I am a fucking cunthair from buying one of these, getting it checked out at the dealer (I live 15 min from AR HQ in the USA), and daily driving it. The prices right now are rock fucking bottom.
The only thing preventing me from getting it is the fear that the gremlins and mechanical issues with the car will prevent it from being daily driven. For context I am not a wrenchlet, but I also do not know what I do not know about this car, as opposed to 90 jap shit boxes.

if you have a good dealer nearby and can find a good example (well taken care of, not modded or only good mods) then go for it

Buy it anon. It’s an incredible car and like you said, they are severely underpriced. Its only negative is it’s only sold in automatic now.
Annoyances:
>had to spend $40 replacing the relays in the wheel well (took 10mins while I had it on the lift)
>had to replace / eliminate plastic bleeder screws
>oil level sensor sucks (not an issue in the QV, which actually has a dipstick)
You’ll want to install adjustable camber arms up front, maybe brake cooling ducts, and I would seriously consider a prefacelift model if you want to save a ton of money. Naturally it may have more issues than a new car, tech won’t be as up to date, but they softened up the steering a bit on the new cars and the older analog gauges are better.

just get a m3 bro
>>
>>29002868
if you buy a new one you will likely experience a CEL within 6 months, and after that never again. as >>29002892 said they're incredible. unlike what he said, get the facelift if you get a qv because 2024 and later get a limited slip diff instead of electronic black box active clutch based torque vectoring. more consistent feel, more predictable, not prone to overheating in severe duty like consecutive laps. if you do get the pre-24, there's an aftermarket swap for a real lsd
>>
>>29002878
Like I said I live 15 mins from Alfa Romeo HQ in the US (Rochester, MI) and there are tons of specialists nearby it seems. I'm only interested in the top end model.

>>29002892
I don't think it was ever sold in manual in the US which is why I opted for the Z instead in late 2024 when dealers started begging for you to buy them. But I need rear seats and I'm in my mid 30s and don't want to look like a boyracer anymore. Also its pretty much a one to one trade for the ones I've looked at. A few I actually pocket money.

>>29002903
I'm not a track hound. This would be for daily and fun driving, and just the novelty of having a cool thing.
>>
>>29002956
>This would be for daily and fun driving, and just the novelty of having a cool thing.
if you want maximum novelty, them get a pre-24 which will have a physical instrument cluster instead of a digital cluster
they really wasted the digital cluster's potential by only having 3 designs of circular dial instead of truly differentiating designs

Ah yeah, forgot the mechanical diff on post 2024 models. Can be retrofitted but it’s expensive.
>>29002956
I haven’t driven a new Z but I imagine it will handle about the same but have 4 doors. The Giulia is what BMWs claim to be (a 4 door sports car). I would probably buy a MT from Europe and try importing it under show & display if I had money to burn.

>>29003135
The vast majority of the parts are also made in Italy. But the transmission is German, you got me there.

Do it. I was buying a car fall 2021 and bought a 4 cylinder. This was in the lot at the same time. I should've bought it but I was buying a house and my down payment and closing costs was 300k. I also would've needed separate winter wheels/tires.
It's been great though. No electrical or mechanical problems in 4 years. Only tire issues because it's potholes and 35 profile tires.
>>
>>29003213
I think the QV will be a future classic someday and is way more special, but you get virtually the same driving experience at 1/10th the cost with a hybrid turbo and a 2.0t.
>>
ok niggers, wife said she didn't mind and to do what I want. Bought a 2019 QV with 35k on odo.
Good bye nissan Z

>>
>>29003843
great choice, now post pics and price faggot.
Note: While the QV has fewer random issues than the 2.0t, some maintenance is (predictably) more expensive. Start searching for good independents in the area, get AlfaOBD/MultiECU Scan on your phone and an obdlink mx+ bluetooth OBD reader so you never have to guess on issues and can do basic stuff yourself (also an SGW bypass plug and some extender cables to make removal easy before taking to the dealer).
Get the metal bleeder screw from alfissimo ($20, maybe $10 if you search on aliexpress/temu) or delete the bleeder joint entirely with a size nw16, 90 degree VDA quick connector ($10 from aliexpress, plus a new ~30mm clamp, maybe an hour of asspain).
>>
>>29003154
>The vast majority of the parts are also made in Italy. But the transmission is German
In reality, it's a Chinese car
>>
>>29004005
Oh, also make sure you get the six different colored obd cables when you get this stuff. Basically all of it is available on aliexpress for under $100 (except the obdlink, although they do sell older knock-offs too)
This will let you do a proxy alignment, reset service intervals, reset diagnostic codes for everything, live monitoring on your phone, and do all basic maintenance without the dealer (or fix things quickly if someone screws up)
Apparently AlfaOBD lets you create new keys too, although I haven’t needed that.
>>
>>29002868
No major mechanical problems, as long as you service it properly. Leave the OBD port alone, plugging in shit can cause odd effects like triggering "service electronic throttle control". Keep battery topped, low voltage causes odd behavior. Don't refill fuel too late as the fuel pump is fuel cooled. The major maintenance point (at least for qv, unknown for i4) is the serpentine built which is an engine out (belt on rear of engine).
>>
>>29004006
You're a fucking dumbass
>>
>>29004019
it’s not engine out, but it is a pain in the ass
https://youtu.be/xX8YkfYxSB0

Different dealers can charge from 1k-4k for the serpentine belt service according to giuliaforums

I'm currently in the market for a stelvio quad or a f pace svr. Absolutely has to be a green alfa but they're rare as hens teeth

Saw an early MT 2L Giulia parked in the neighborhood the other day. Shame they weren't based enough to keep that stick shift.
>>
>>29004164
I just got my belt changed at an indie shop, charged just under 1700 for the whole 40k mile service including belt
pretty reasonable, and the British shop that posts photo instructions of how to diy the belt change charges 1k gbp
>>
best handling and emotional 4 door car on the market by a huge margin.
biggest issue are the column mounted flappy paddles instead of steering wheel mounted like it should be
>>
>>29004591
Personally I prefer that, but I know why people find it irritating.
Btw, how much delay is there between paddle inputs and shifts? I tried manual shifting a Škoda with a DCT and it was such a disappointment because the shift happened like a second and a half after I pushed the shifter. VW's DSG DCT is supposed to be lightning fast, but what's the fucking point in that with an input delay like that?
>>
>>29004629
depends on what mode you're in. regular drive modes will be about a quarter second. fun drive modes will complete before the paddle can return to its resting position. if there's an arrow next to the selected gear indicator, that's telling you that the transmission has preselected the next gear up
>>29004591
giant column mounted honkers are good though?
>>
This car is fully wrenchable and its hillarious the doom and gloom retarded boomers on the internet spread.
The belt is a 2 hour job. Oil changes are easy. The recall fuel module is a 2 hour DIY. If you can change a tire, you can unstick a yellow caliper and change pads. Plugs are easy.
QV is cheaper on parts and maintenance, and easier to troubleshoot and work on, than my old Saab 9-5 Aero. No question about it.
Is this going to be one of those mechanic special cars? Probably. I dont suspect it will ever go the level of the Chevy SS, that car is valuable because a gorilla could figure it out.
>>
>>29004949
Fuel pump recall only affects non-QVs right?
>>29004629
You can buy the GTAm transmission (and suspension) tune off schniz (sic) on giuliaforums. I’d do the transmission tune at least. Honestly, the paddles are nicely done but it feels like wankery.
