Bought a century 55D23L battery for my sister's Toyota estima (I think 2019 and petrol, not hybrid) because she had a few days where she had issues starting the car and had to be jump started despite being driven decently. Thought maybe cos it's 7 or so months old maybe we should just change the battery because we don't know how old the current one isIt's the battery the internet was recommending (ai/google search) and the battery shops were recommending when I checked online and in-store.Anyways I take it to her place and it fits small in the tray by maybe 2 or 3cm in length. It's held down securely with the bracket but I had to add some foam to fill the slight gap width-wiseBut I checked her old battery and it's labelled with 115D26L (it's a Japanese import car so everything else is in Japanese)I'm guessing the 23L and 26L is regarding the size? But how about the other stuff? Can this cause issues if it's left in there and is it safe to use? Can in mess with the electronics in some way?

>>29003965Physical size isnt a major deal.Cold cranking amps is all that matters.
>>29003965I'd say your alternator isn't charging the battery or you got a parasitic draw. The physical size of a battery doesn't matter as long as the terminals aren't going to short out on something like the hood or a structural support.
>>29003976>parasitic drawWhat could be an example of parasitic draws? When I've driven their car I've noticed they always have a USB cable plugged in
>>29003981It can be a glove box light or trunk light staying on. It can be one of the many electronic modules staying awake and drawing excessive power instead of going into standby mode. You need to check things with a multimeter.

>>29003965Does the Estima in this age have something like a 'DCM' module? That is a common issue with Subarus where after a number of years, the little onboard cellular modem module which piggybacks on the head unit, which is supplemented by a built in battery, will A) have the battery on the unit fail, B) 'fail' to get signal, if it was reliant on an older generation of broadband, (i.e. 3g vs 4g). *Those* can be a source of parasitic draw worth investigating. The fix is to get what's called a 'DCM bypass' module. I did the same on my car to remove the Starlink tracking/remote start BS from Subaru. Insert the bypass and existing circuits that it piggybacked on, like your speakers/mics, still work.
