What does /o think of the dodge charger/300c? Hemi models of course. Is a well taken care of low mileage example worth buying? Preferably the first gen

Is there anyone alive who thinks that this abomination looks good?
Everything is wrong about this.

if you're black yes

this is the only generation of charger that looks good. the design has soul. modern chargers are completely forgettable visually.

Big mess of a car to buy ONLY because of the "nigerians" that abuse them. Fleet examples are well maintained usually but idle hours lead to cam/lifter failure. I still opted multiple times now for fleet chargers so I will ignore the N owned ones for sake of this.

with 05-08 you have less lifter failures more valve seat drop out, totaling engine. Your pic is of an 05-10 body style, and 09+ had an engine revision that gained around 45hp (eagle revision, better heads) lowering valve seat issues but saw more lifter/cam issues.

Id opt for an 09+. 11-14 is the weird short gen i quite like that is a more angular version of your pic.

I had to do a cam and lifters (and then some fun mods while in there) on my 14 pursuit after it wiped a lobe from a seized lifter. The MDS issue is part of some of these issues (collapsed lifter) although it seems more common for the roller needle bearings in the lifters to actually fail and sand the lobe down, mine happened to be a non mds lifter that failed so this seems more true.

If you keep fresh oil every 5k mi in them they do last, however I would HIGHLY suggest budgeting for a vvt-non mds 6.4 variant cam, mds delete kit (plugs), and "hellcat" (SRT) lifters, and a high flow oil pump, and do the work yourself (save for the tune, i had a local speed shop throw a 6.4 cam tune and mds delete tune on it, no canned tunes exist for this combo from diablosports crap). I ended up adding a bunch of other things like headers and 6.4 active runner intake and wired it up, doesnt hurt.

Some of these never have those failures, but mine had around 8500 idle hours at 72k miles, and it failed around 90k with no additional idle hours, so its possible. Make sure to check their idle hours in person on the EVIC screen, and miles. Obviously do pre-purchase diligence, other things like test drive, scan it, listen to it.

Above all else, this is a project car, dont do this if you dont have time and money to play with it. GM v8's have same issue

forgot pic, not mine, but is a 14 like mine plus the rt wing. the 11-14 worth it for the taillights alone
>>
I think the 300c can look good. But it's still a chrysler. That's my only gripe really. But I think they will age well and it's still a big American v8 boat which is cool and they don't have these anymore.

Why would anyone want an ugly piece of shit like that? You should like a teenager chasing power on a budget

MDS has absolutely nothing to do with lifter failure, nor does idle time, or VVT or the third gen hemi's inherent design or any other invented reason.
Chrysler simply had a bad batch of rollers. It affects/affected an estimated 2.5 - 5% of all modern hemis (both 5.7 and 6.4).

I know this is bait, anyway.

Retard alert, direct correlation to high idle hours, spurred on by the low flowing factory oil pump, idling starved them, leading the roller failures. Collapsing was different, however directly related to the mds lifters in particular. The lifters were flawed, same with GMs, of which both brands continue to suffer from the same exact failures to this day with their pushrod v8s.

I like the facelifted S version
>>
>>29004384
it's not bait I don't know why people keep making up imaginary issues when there are none. you don't hear about that much anymore cause most of the problem parts have been replaced at this point.
Dodge is still putting the basically same 5.7 in ram trucks and none of them have lifter issues.
t. 2012 pursuit owner with 165k miles & 8k idle hours and no lifter problems

These systems that shut down cylinders seem to cause more problems than good though. What are you saving like mpg? What's the point? Just buy a fuel efficient car if you want to save gas

I have the last gen but it is the most enjoyable car I’ve ever driven. Words can’t describe how fun it is to daily.
>>
>>29004449
nigger i thought the same until my third charger had it, i believe that beats your sample size of 1. It will catch you off guard, dont be a wrenchlet just replace it all, it was like 1500 for all parts and a couple leisure days of work.
