my city raised a big stink about ebikes and every karen/tyler is seething about them being in the road, so now people ride underpowered motorcycles (like those little baja bike things) in the bike paths and take shitty ebikes into the middle of the road because the trails are full of karens and tylers and baja bikes that somehow get a pass from karens and tylers. the other day i saw a straight up dirtbike being driven on the sidewalk. a few months back a dude was on one a side-by-side just driving through the park. turns out the motor vehicles act was incredibly poorly written and all of this is legal

My first bike is 9 years old I still use it once a week atleast. Its going strong. I'm sure it will run fine for 10 more years without a problem. I checked the valves at 30k km and it wasn't even out of spec. I can still sell the bike for a good price. Would an ebike have held up just as well? I doubt it. Cool scoot btw.

I haven't been out of the house for a bit since some road-rage psycho in a fat-ass Chevy Express camper van tried to run me over in town. Crazy fucker even followed me into a parking lot. A number of days before that, it also managed to catch an inch long spiral nail in the rear tire, which I had to replace for $230. I decided to treat the bike to a little hill climb, then went and got something to eat. I took some pictures!

Between 1.8 to 2.3% capacity loss per year, based on older battery systems with meh thermal control, for cars that are heavily (300kkm mileage) used.
For a motorcycle the loss should be closer to 1% per year simply due to fewer charging cycles, and maybe even better than that due to more modern thermal control and better chemistries.
Also, you can replace degraded cells.

I liked it enough to rent it for a day later at another place, but not enough to buy.
It is a fun bike, lightweight and super smooth. It a single, but it's smoother than most twins.
Its quickshifter is awesome once you learn to use it properly.
For me it had only 2 downsides:
- it is loud enough to get tiring after a couple hours;
- it refuses to keep stable speed, its fueling works fine whenever you accelerate or decelerate, but try to keep the speed stable and it'll occasionally skip a beat in an annoying manner. Maybe it is fixable, but fuck it.

Anon your delusions are showing. Nothing wrong with your urals, if I were a ural retard, I'd swap the front and get good disk brakes. Also, good tyres on that POS. Then you'd atleast be safer on road. Maybe a good rear suspension upgrade if I can find one at a decent price.
>>
Yesterday bros, i tried praticing some clutchups with the crf450rl and broken tendons on the throttle pinky
And i absolute failed, hurt myself on the most miniscule rebound into the front suspension, and that smol amoubt of crush potential crippled me in the stunting parking lot for like 10 mins of palm agony
But im wondering if the g2 dirt throttle tamer+stealthy flywheel might level out some of the difficulties i was experiencing
Im wondering if this handicap will be alleviated by these two upgrades or if my early retirement for dirt or even baik in general is scheduled until i can get hand surgeries

Which im at another, now 3rd doctor within the oblast because 1st was useless 2nd didnt want to take the problem and 3rd times the charm

Still have no idea if its grtting surgeries because communism

We are passed global peak motorcycle. TFR in the third world countries where scooters and motorcycles are most popular is sub replacement almost across the board, and where its not, like in China, wealth has increased quickly enough that cars are beginning to replace bikes just like they did in the west in the interwar period.

>be me

given a budget of $2000 all-in and 7 days, what is the most worthwhile bike trip I could do?

I've always wanted to ride out in BC, but in my theoretical scenario, $500 of my budget would be going to plane tickets alone. but that being said, there's not many cool places within riding distance of Toronto. I don't really want to spend 3 days riding to the Maritimes (for instance), spend a day in the region, and then riding back, spending basically 6 days on a generic highway

the other option is riding down south. I'm pretty anti Trump and don't really want to give my shekels to the USA. that being said, is there anywhere worth riding? obviously the west coast would be nice, but that requires flying. is Michigan worthwhile? I can't imagine Ohio or Penn have any good roads

Not really into dirt bikes and don't think they're good for anything off trail, even if they have street tires added. Shitty seats, dumpy engines, dirt bike service intervals, and nonexistent wind protection are just dowsides with no corresponding benefit. This image presents a comparative chart that highlights a specific, humorous rule regarding what vehicles are allowed on 4chan's /o/ (Automotive) imageboard.

The Layout and Subjects:
The image is structured with three distinct two-wheeled vehicles aligned horizontally at the top, each accompanied by its category name and specific model:
Motorbike (Honda Grom): A compact, red and black, gas-powered motorcycle.
E-scooter (Benzina Zero V): A modern, red and black electric scooter designed for urban commuting.
E-bike (Diablo): A black electric bicycle with fat tires and a motorcycle-like frame styling (labeled with "COOCEZ BIKES" on the battery pack).
The Comparison Matrix:
Below the vehicle images is a checklist evaluating three specific criteria for each vehicle:
2 wheels: All three vehicles receive a checkmark, establishing that they share the same basic physical layout.
Has a motor: All three vehicles receive a checkmark, noting that they are all motorized forms of transportation.

Allowed on /o/: This is the punchline of the graphic, showing a divide in community acceptance:
The Honda Grom (Motorbike) is allowed.
The Benzina Zero V (E-scooter) is allowed.
The Diablo (E-bike) is explicitly not allowed.

Context and Humor:
The image is a piece of internet commentary/satire targeting the cultural norms of 4chan's automotive community. On /o/, users frequently debate what constitutes a legitimate "auto" or motorized vehicle worthy of discussion.
The graphic highlights the irony that while an electric scooter is deemed acceptable, an "e-bike" designed to mimic the appearance of a motorcycle is completely banned or rejected by the community. It mocks the arbitrary boundaries of forum gatekeeping, where two highly similar electric two-wheelers face completely opposite rules of acceptance.

It's not a yamaha, the frame is made from thick as hell steel tubing, they're strong as hell.
You can fit normal wheels on the axles if you wish and disk brake conversions aren't any more difficult than just fitting the brake calipers on to a bracket.

Last one. I went to see if a deli I like was open, and found a neat Rebel friend. I'm not sure, but I think his headlight (or at least the lens/housing) might be aftermarket? I could be wrong though, it was a nice bike. I think they were a chemistry student or something because they had a pair of goggles strapped around the headlight with skeletal formulas and compounds written all over the lenses in sharpie.
>>
>>29007350
That looks awful. Just do a full swap with a RE classic 350. It's the same 19 incher and you just need to machine some stuff to fit the front end to the frame.
>>
>>29007382
Doesn't matter what it looks like if it works.
I'm not one for disk brakes anyway because the cop drums in Urals are completely fine for stopping the rig, they're even better for solo use.
>>
>>29007391
>drums in Urals are completely fine
Well, you are a retard.
>>
>>29007392
Perhaps, but that's only because at some point I thought Japanese bikes were good.
There's nothing wrong with drums, they don't magically go bad after disk brakes became more common.

>>
>>29007410
Bruh, my 125 scoot goes 95kph and crosses 100kph in a downhill. I wish there were sintered pads for this lil scoot. Because the braking feels inadequate when there is someone sitting on the back. This one is heavier, higher displacement, I'm sure it does 80kph at the least and it needs disks.
>>
>>29007409
tard kun, disk brakes are not rider aids. ABS or TC is.
>>
>>29007415
Just because it's heavier doesn't necessitate disks.
Heavy equipment uses drum brakes too, the semi trailer hauling 50 tons of chinese scooters stops with drum brakes too.
>>
>>29007419
Ok, I did not know that. I thought they had air brakes which was completely different, but now I know they use drums too. Thanks.
>>
>>29007418
I'm saying drums work fine because the ural doesn't go fast enough for it to matter, and the brakes are the one thing that doesn't explode on the hellcycle.
>>
File: file.png (598 KB, 1920x1080)

>>29007423
They use drum brakes that are operated by air due to hydraulic fluids boiling over in drum applications quite easily, not like they don't do that in disk systems too.
Also makes coupling trailers easier because you just plug a hose in, no need to bleed the system like with hydraulics which takes a lot of time.

Can't be imported, I'm white.

Soviet cars and bikes have a cult status here. After the war we had basically no cars or motorcycles available for the public, Finland barely had any roads in the 50s. The Soviets had motor vehicles, so the Finns bought those en masse.
It wasn't till the 70s when western and jap cars started becoming mainstream here, but even then Soviet cars were very common due to their affordability.

Also because they're superior to anything else ever made.
>>
>>29007828

>>
>>29007829
Aight, what's my GAZ-24 Volga a copy of? (There's one partially correct answer I will accept)

The IMZ M72 is a license made variant of the BMW R71 and some parts of them are cross compatible, but from the K750 onwards they're their own thing really.
OHV Urals and Dneprs are also completely unrelated aside for being shaft drive boxer twins.
>>
>>29007832
>GAZ-24
1. they rot like crazy, none remain today, not even the successors (outside of sanctioned Cuba)
2. GAZ plant is dead for a reason
as soon as cheap western import cars came in, GAZ was unnecessary for taxi parks and was replaced, only them relegated to producing Gazel mid loggie commercial vehicles, and then still died soon after.
Soviet shit is only "good" in a vacuum of absence of international manufacturers import, in which case it dies due to no competing ability.

>they're their own thing really.
And that's a bad thing.

>>29007869
when you do a carb rebuild, is it just smarter to go ahead and buy new seals and stuff?
I'm probably gonna try seafoam first.
>>
>>29007832
>what's my GAZ-24 Volga a copy of?
Valiant Falcon LeSabre Hardtop Coupe, duh!
>>
>>29007873
Idk where you get the idea that I'm a commie, but whatever. I'll call you a germoid in turn then, which is worse than being a commie honestly.
GAZ is superior, people weren't ready for such finely crafted automobiles, the western population was afraid of their superiority so the jews killed GAZ to retain their shares and stocks.
>>29007886
The OHV ZMZ-24D engine in them actually has roots with the Ford AA truck, albeit there's nothing common with the AA engine and the ZMZ-24D by this point.
Henry Ford personally travelled to Russia to set up the what became GAZ factory, initially building licensed Ford AA trucks and Model As.

Could someone who knows a little about 2 strokes tell me what’s going on here?
I put 8oz of seafoam in it, and I think it helped a little but not much. Idles and throttle response is just fine, but it doesnt pick the front wheel up and as you can hear in the higher rpm’s it kinda wants to bog down. Unless the previous owner was lying, it only has like 4 hours on the top end. Is it just a simple carb clean?

>>
>>29007946
Give it choke when it bogs. If it helps, too lean, bigger main jet.
Spray some brake cleaner around the flange at idle, it'll die if you have a vacuum leak

I’ve never had a Suzuki, but I know with their dirt bikes, they’re like the only company that still puts a kick starter on their 450’s. They still make the DR650 and it’s essentially been unchanged for like the past 30 years or whatever.
So for me, I take that as they have a business model that says-
>Dont fix what works, and we don’t care what other companies think and are doing
So I can get behind that. I assure you unless I get a Ural, my next bike WILL be a Suzuki.
>>
>>29007882
Yeah I'd spring for gaskets at least but you can usually get away with not, and desu I'd probably see if seafoam does it first like you lol. I'm more on the ball with this stuff now, but I remember not being so.
>>

lol yeah, I’m kinda scared I’ll mess something up. I gotta get the fork seals fixed anyway, so I may just ask whoever I take it to to get that done to look at it.
Part of me wants to text the guy that sold it to me and told me “nothing at all is wrong with it”, but I don’t think it’s worth doing that.
Also, video’s up here. >>29007946

Totem pole of jap brands by reliability
#1 Honda
#2 Suzuki/Kawasaki (tied, some years better than others)
Suzuki has the pro/con of never changing shit for over a decade. Meaning, you trade innovation for consistency. Parts on a 10 year old gsxr will work in a newer one. They're walmart.
Kawasaki has had good manufacturing until recently with their 600s. I personally think kawasaki made some of the best carburated sport bikes but since the efi switch, has been playing catchup outside of their halo models such as zx10 / h2
#4 Yamaha they had the most recalls of all jap brands and in fact they have the title of most recall campaigns issued in motorcycle history. The only reason people shill this brand is because of the R1.

>>

Length is intimidating if you're also going to use it in the city, it translates to turn radius.

How do they manage to make a motorcycle that is 11cm shorter, 7cm slimmer, with engine that has one less engine block, with smaller wheel 17in vs 19in, with smaller fork and shorter rear shock, but weigh the same?

I got a meteor 350, not planning on doing a belt conversion since I take it camping. If you want something with a belt as standred at the low end Cfmoto does a 250 cruiser.
You might fall in love with the Hunter and might spend more money upgrading and adding stuff to it.
One thing with the Hunter is you see in the picture how near her heel there is a small dent in the exhaust that is get some extra room so your heel isn't on the exhaust. Take it for a test ride and see where you feet sit on the pegs.

Why some bikes have those piss bottles on the handlebar while others don't?
>>
>>29008029
some have front brake liquid expansion reservoir on handlebar, some don't
mine have it in black aluminum box
piss bottle is on the rear brake
I'd prefer they didn't put front brake master cylinder on the handlebar altogether
>>
>>29008033
I know that that is, but asked why..
>>
>>29008029
Ease of access or the designer has OCD
>>
>>29008036
I guess between the need to have lever on right handlebar, obviously, and brake calipers down on the front disks, there is no better place to put reservoir on? I don't understand or condone plastic piss bottles though. All bikes I had had enclosed aluminum box. I guess "why" is cutting costs?

If any bike is properly maintained then it should last a lifetime. Your scoot (qt btw) is a prime example of that.

more so for liter bikes
