So, what will Ford call this abomination?

>E-Mav
>Mustang PT
>Bronco EV
>Thunderbird

Also, how long do you think it will be until the price is actually $48,000 for the base model (plus $1800 destination fee)?

You guys think youre joking but nameplates become available to other manufacturers after 25 years of being out of production. This is why Ford had that monstrosity 25 years ago based off the Mondeo platform that they called Cougar and also why they reused Maverick.

Fortunately the Pinto nameplate is super AIDS and nobody will ever use it again.

No one puts markups on a mass produced economy car. If the only appeal of a vehicle is the price then putting a markup on it is the dumbest thing a dealership could do. And since it's going to be so readily available people will just go 5 miles down to the road and get one at msrp

How small is that fucking bed? Using the tires as a size guide with their 27.6" diameter, that bed looks at best 4.5 feet deep. Fucker better have back seats that fold forward to extend the bed.

They don't. Go on any car sales database and find me any economy car listed over MSRP. You won't find one. There's over 22,000 new Mavericks on autotrader right now all listed at or below MSRP. So why would any dealer ever try to mark one up when you can go 10 minutes and find one for cheaper. This isn't peak covid pandemic anymore dude.
>>
>>29009923
This, I got my factory order mav $1k below msrp and rejected all the addons.

The problem is both dealers and consumers. I went into the dealership to buy a mav and they tried to add $10k of bullshit through trims, ppe, extended warranty, service packages and blah blah. I didn't ask any questions about these things, just let them talk and say "no". If they refuse to budge and say you HAVE to buy the one with the bullshit add-ons I just say ok I'm going to the other dealership bye.

Yup and it's great so far, Ford knows how to make a truck. Shit has 2 cupholders, a good drivetrain, a bed, it's fast and quiet, and it's so luxurious there's a TV built into the dash in the base model. Not like my money is doing anything else.

Looks like a passenger van with the back cut off. Idk why "trucks" are so popular when it's basically a Ford E class evonovan with the back cut off. Why wouldn't more people drive the van version if they really needed space to transport things? You literally get more bed space and the option to carry more passengers.

>jellybean F150
>mistake
The jellybean was a massive success though. Enthusiasts may not like it but it was a gigantic financial win for Ford and pretty much singlehandedly changed the entire US truck market and turned pickups from blue collar utility vehicles that were usually secondary vehicles into the mainstream do-everything daily drivers they are now.

That's not an accurate image anyway though, it's clearly modified from the spy photo in OP and is either somebody's photoshop rendering of what they think it'll look like, or more likely something an AI spat out.

>changed the entire US truck market and turned pickups from blue collar utility vehicles that were usually secondary vehicles into the mainstream do-everything daily drivers they are now.

Thats a fucking mistake bro. A financial success but a societal mistake. Just like all the normies migrating to the internet during the coof. I love pickups, they help me move my things that make me money and are a good tool if you need to use them unconventionally. But the fact that even the used ones are basically expensive cars now is pushing me into the van and cabover territory.

I know a lot of people feel that way, but for many more they're really the only good option on the market these days. Most people can't afford to have multiple decent vehicles anymore and a lot of people need the capabilities a truck offers often enough that it's a reasonable compromise, especially given how popular outdoor recreation has become in recent years. Anything else that comes close off road is just as expensive, usually even worse on fuel, less comfortable, and lacks the utility and convenience of a truck bed.

Maybe I'm a unicorn but I use the shit out of my crew cab 4x4 Ranger in every capacity - just yesterday I went on a hike from a trailhead that would've sucked to get to in a Forester or RAV4 and impossible in anything less than that, a couple of days before I hauled my mountain bike in the bed (which I do at least 2-3 times a week) instead of having to use some janky rack or put a muddy bike inside a carpeted passenger compartment, I've got a hard tonneau cover I can install in 20 mins and then I have a giant sealed and secure trunk when I need it, I use the shit out of the back seats both for passenger purposes and as a trunk for shit like groceries, I saved literal thousands when I moved a few years ago by being able to rent a trailer for a few hundred bucks instead of a whole U-Haul truck, and it's a great commuter that isn't even awful on gas. There's no other type of vehicle on the market that can do all of those things so competently.
>>
>>29011040

I'm not saying they should be designed for housewives, just the the trend set by the jellybean has resulted in genuinely useful products for at least some people, and I think a lot more people than detractors give them credit for. IMO there's some real flawed logic among people who hate on modern crew cab trucks, they act like it's a choice between that or not buying a car at all rather than comparing them to similarly priced non-truck vehicles with comparable passenger space etc. where the downsides of the truck become pretty minor in comparison to the utility you get out of it, even if you don't use it that often.
>>
I have a Maverick as my personal vehicle and a Ranger as a company branded work truck. The Ranger has a cap on it and it's full of pest control related tools.

The Maverick could totally do the same job with the size of the bed it has. This EV with a smaller bed would still be viable for the job. The bed is needed because a bunch of poison can't be in the cab I'm driving in, and I need easy access to the various traps and supply stockpile. I'm only using like 100lbs of payload in a bed full of stuff.

But they will only consider a Maverick and not this EV because sometimes you drive over 500km in a 9-5.

>The bed is needed because a bunch of poison can't be in the cab I'm driving in
This was a thing for me when I got a truck too, in my case it's because I go shooting on BLM land and don't want to drive home with lead-covered steel targets in the passenger compartment with me though.
