I really like king of the baggers, it's really exciting racing
but it makes people seethe like very few other topics
can't talk about it at all with my family from spain who are into racing
>>
>>29010582
It's like racing horses when you have cars. At first people were racing tourist bikes because it's all we had, then bike got better for racing, so there's no need to race a tourist bike.
>>
>>29010586
seems like a particularly bad example, since watching horses race is still popular and exciting.
In any case, the KotB bikes are race bikes. Like any other series there are rules about the shape and layout of the motorcycles. The motoGP bikes are not the absolute fastest bikes manufacturers can make. From a principled PoV the situation is the same.
in English it's a "touring bike" not a "tourist bike"
>>
>>29010592
And some races like The Isle Of Mann are Tourist Trophy not touring trophy
>>
>>29010596
It's a tourist trophy because the driver (the first TT was a car race) is completing a tour of stages, making him the tourist. The cars (and bikes) were then as now known as touring vehicles, not tourist vehicles.
>>
>>29010597
Any bike can be a tourist bike, but not every bike can be a race bike.
>>
>>29010599
if you build it to follow the rules of a racing series and then you race with it, it's a race bike. how else do you intend to define "race bike."
I.o.w., why is it different for KotB to say "your bike has to have bags and a v-twin even though you could make a bike faster without those restrictions" than it is for MotoGP to say "your bike has to have a naturally aspirated engine with only 1000cc even though you could make a bike faster without those restrictions"
>>
>>29010600
the main point of motorcycle racing is to make the bikes faster, why would you even need empty bags on a race bike?
>>
>>29010605
if the main point is to make the bikes faster why do you need to have a naturally aspirated engine, why are you only allowed 1000cc, why are you only allowed 4 cylinders, why is there a maximum aero area, why are you restricted to a four stroke engine? Couldn't you make a faster bike if you eliminated any of these restrictions? So when these are in place, why is motoGP a race bike, but the KotB rules are in place, it's not a race bike?
This is what I mean by seething, I had this exact conversation almost word for word
Next you'll say "well it's different because originally there was more experimentation allowed"
>>
>>29010537
Small bikes are fun, but as your first bike i dont recommend the 4r (idk about the 25r), you have to rev her out to do everything cause 4cyl so i think the 2cyl ninja/z400 are better
>>29010582
I'd like it if it wasn't "Watch Indian and Harley race while we tweak the rules so Harley can win more without innovating"
I wish everyone else could participate
>>
>>29010609
Because you also need rules for safety not only speed, bags are not needed for safety or speed

unfortunately it's not really even "watch indian and harley race" since indian doesn't have a factory team, it's "watch indians and harleys race." With indian being sold to PE i don't see the series sticking around much longer, indian motorcycle quality was already kind of dodgy in my experience, and I can't imagine this betters it.

You can't seriously believe this, actual good racing doesn't happen when HD is involved. They'll either get rule changes in their favor or leave. HD was dominating last season, but 2 races into this one and all of a sudden a rule change is needed in favor of Harley?

>turbos are dangerous
is this the only way to make a forced induction engine, or is there a way to do it where boost is controlled smoothly by engine rpm? that would be super, if so
in any case it just moves the problem slightly
1000 cc makes you safer than 1100 cc because...?
the only real answer way these things make the bikes safer is by making them SLOWER which is also the same thing empty saddlebags do
>>
>>29010679
This is them parading around the corpse. The original royal enfield died.

you must be american, race bikes also need to turn - more cc = heavier bike
more cc = faster top speed = more dangerous

Same tier as ural basically or chink clones of hondas that are bulletproof from as long as theyve had time to copy them ironically

>>
>>29010738
as the anon who actually bought the bike you are correct in saying it’s not the same thing as a vintage RE. But at least some models are actually based on them to the point of using the original tooling I believe. Anyway it is a cheap bike which is reliable, easy to wrench on and looks cool. The only objective weak points are underpowered engines with pretty frequent service intervals which in my case is fine because I’d rather not hit a tree at 140mph in my first season (we can save that for next year) and I can check the valves myself if necessary.
>>
>>29010748

I think if BMW approached moto america and said "hey we want to race a r18 based bike" that moto america would say yes. That would be cool. I think if Kawasaki said "hey can we race a vaquero based bike" or if Suzuki said "hey can we put bags on an m109r and race it" that moto america would be amenable. I would like to see that.
I would guess, however, that other manufacturers feel basically like euros feel about KotB "uhm that's not a real race bike for [reasons which are not principled in any way and apply to MotoGP on inspection], so why would we do that"

>instead of scooter cucks
you seem to have fallen into the trap of thinking that because scooters are the default choice for non enthusiast motorbikes that it is impossible to be an enthusiast for scooters. or perhaps that someone who is an enthusiast for scooters is not a “genuine” enthusiast, whatever that means.
>>
>>29010863
I've fallen into no traps because traps are gay.
Scooters are for casuals who lack the hardware to comprehend shifting, again nothing wrong with scooters and the other toys but they do not have a spot at the table with actual motorcycles/motorcyclists.

You can be enthusiastic about scooters but you are not a motorcycle enthusiast nor ever command the same level of appreciation, respect, admiration, etc that the crusier bros, sport bike bros, naked bike bros, adv bros, tourer bros, etc etc get.
>Loading language to insuate that scooters are the default when motorcycles existed longer than scooters (1800s compared to 1900s)
You're working off a false pretense or you're actively attempting to gaslight people into thinking scooters are motorcycles (they aren't and that's okay)

Okay I'll bite the most uncreative bait ITT.
Nah, I (as do most people) think "big" bikes are just objectively cooler, more interesting, and have a higher threshold for satisfaction over the course of a riders life.

The toy bikes, are cute but won't be "cool" in the traditional sense. No matter how hard you insist on the contrary. The respect just isn't there like it is for [insert any actual motorcycle here]

I've never met 1 scooter/ebike enjoyer that hasn't been insufferable. Yeah, sport and crusiers dudes can get egotistical but as a whole they're not nearly as delusional as the chest puffing toy bike enjoyers that constantly go on diet tribes trying to prove their worth and insist to others that they're cool and they're hip and whatnot when nobody is impressed and nobody really buys into it.

>tldr it's fine to enjoy those toys and theyre great for super dense cities like NYC, but to delude oneself into thinking they deserve the same level of respect that reeeeel motorcycles and their riders get is just silly and proves all of my former observations
>Scooter-Ebikes insist upon themselves

>Nah, I (as do most people) think "big" bikes are just objectively cooler, more interesting, and have a higher threshold for satisfaction over the course of a riders life.
I must be a weirdo.
For me sumo always was the coolest type of bike, the lighter the better.
I also get more attention on sumo bikes, I rarely get that "rev it" gesture from girls when riding other types of bikes but plenty when riding motards.
I think the era when a dentist on an overpriced hog was cool has long been over.
But the era of riding like a jackass on lightweight nimble shitbike will never be over and will always be fun, making it feel and look cool.

How many hours will you be on the saddle for?
If it's longer than 6 hours total then you probably want dedicate touring or at least slapped windshield on the duke

no one says this. the closest it gets is that they deserve the same level of respect but a different form of it in that both are enthusiasts of some sort (sorta like how train foamers and trainset manchildren are the same level of autism, but different types)

but no one thinks scooters are "cool" like sunglasses at night leather jacket kinda cool. who tf hops on a scooter and goes "chest puffing" even (((influencers))) get updoots and ad revenue from saying how chill and just generally pleasant scooters are, not how they are still le tuff guy on a vespa

Respectfully. I'll take a "That didn't happen" for 500. I've been thrown heart hands and rev it gestures a lot on a motorcycle. I can't speak for scoots like that because I'd never own one.

Women find scooters cute, and fun because they're low stakes and quirky. They're seen as a very soft thing. Unlike motorcycles.

AI Overview
Modern electric vehicle (EV) motors typically spin between 10,000 and 20,000 RPM, reaching up to 30,500+ RPM in recent high-performance production cars.

It is road legal, passed inspection and is registered.
Getting it plated was funny because it's an ex militsia bike, meaning it has no frame number due to the frame being considered a "consumable" part.
I explained this to the inspector who tried to find some sort of VIN on the bike and he eventually went "well I don't think anyone is trying to steal a heap like this, so it's whatever" and gave it a pass.
When he was making the documents for it, he got so confused by the model names, markings and everything that he gave up and went "do you want to come and fill out this, because I have no idea about any of this."
Original documents were in Russian to boot with Russian model codes and everything.

Cast aluminium, although I think that eventually boiled down to my own prior mistakes and being old pistons.
The engine was seized when I got it, I had to hammer the pistons out of the cylinders, put new rings on them and back in they went.
When I got the engine running and was tuning it the exhaust valve adjuster backed out of the rocker arm and the exhaust valve didn't open at all, it's a wasted spark system so it was banging against the exhaust valve while compressing, knocking in a sense which might've twisted the conrod and damaged the piston. I didn't bother checking for damages because it fired right up after putting the valve afjuster back, rode it for a couple of thousand KM after that before it exploded. Granted I was doing 100kmh indicated by the speedometer, gps speed was closer to 140kmh.

I also have a Ducati dealership within walking distance (I could literally push the bike there) which seems like a huge perk considering I have no space or tools to do my own maintenance.

>but RE before jeet took it was shit and basically going under
That's not what happened. The Indian army picked RE to make their standard motorcycle, which prompted RE to build a factory in India. The factory was expanded and they were selling well over there. The main company back in England, however, was totally fucked because they were a British manufacturing company after WW2. Enfield Britain managed to limp along until finally imploding over the course of the 60s. They were totally liquidated. Enfield of India, kept right on keeping on as the same old Enfield. Some guy actually tried to sue RE when it returned to the UK market, but the court ruled that RE was the same, uninterrupted RE that started way back when.

TLDR English enfield created India Enfield before dying and handing off the torch to their Indian branch. There is a continous and uninterrupted company history and is totally unlike Triumph or Indian.

Now have 2 concreted ground anchors, 19mm chain on one wheel and 12mm chain on the other (should swap this to 19mm some time I guess).

Thank god I live in a white area.
I never take the keys out from the ignition in my cars, the doors are unlocked, my workshop with all my tools is unlocked, my house is always unlocked.
My bikes don't even have an ignition lock, just kick it and it'll start.

Where I'm from we just shoot thieves. I actually cannot remember the last time someones bike or car was stolen here. People just leave their bikes in their yards. Thieves know they'll probably die if they try anything.
What I'm saying is, get a gun and kill them if they try to steal your bike.
>>
>>29011735
>I have 3 baiks one of them is 125cc scoot, am I corrupted :(
no its not the sum of all your 'kus, just individual bikes. if its over 125cc you will become corrupt.

I'd love to but if you try and stop them in merry England, chances are you'll be getting a charge too.
>>

Oh you have bigger problems than bikes getting stolen then. Maybe you should try getting out of that shithole before investing money in anything that's just gonna get taken from you.

I got myself a very nice modular helmet on a steep sale and it’s one of the best pieces of gear I’ve purchased
I really can heartily recommend a nice modular helmet wow
Separately, I think the nightster has really nice lines for classic potential, been sketching out some designs with the very old style seat
>>
>>29011829
Why is there a penis under the seat? Also did you check the manufacture date of the helmet? They are like batteries or tyres, you gotta buy fresh off the press, not the ones that have been sitting on the shelf for years.

Not doing this discourse again
In any case, these old seats were often spring mounted, with one or two supports. The popular one support mount with a spring was called a pogo, seen here

well his old yamaha scoot is over 20 years old now
the carburetor just broke down and he figured its time for new one
and the chink Zontes 150x is faster, lighter and cheaper than NMax so he went with hat instead
>but muh resale value
usually I would agreed but on smol scooter its not much of an issue
>>
>>29011866
He's going to learn a painful lesson about why it's cheaper to buy chinese. Just make sure he adds inspecting the welds to his preride inspection if you want him to live for too long.

Find a service manual for it before buying. I don't know about Zontes, but I know Benda has some of the shortest service intervals I have seen.
>>
>>29011773
Those brothel creeps. I can easily know this is some kind of Balkan mutt, probably Albanian.
>>
>>29011694
Airtag. Let them steal it and tell the police there are funny german people in that house that said mean things online and they will probably burn down their house.
>>
>>29011963
The service interval is the same as any others scoots
If anything the only main issue is its aluminum frame that they use to get it to be light
but they also offer 2 years warranty for it so there is that.
The dealership is also nearby, which is one of the big reasons he went with it.
The owner of the yamaha dealer here is also the owner of the zontes dealer, and the buildings are literally next to each other and share the same service center, so you are taking it to the same mechanic for service anyway. Worst case scenario he can just trade it in for a yamaha
It used to be yamaha-kawasaki but the owner dropped kawi for chink brand cause it turn out selling smaller scooters in volume is more profitable than selling brand new ninja nobody buys new. The reason he get that chink one is mainly cause he is getting 150cc light maxi for the price of 125cc standard scooter
>>
>>29011977
The worst case is that he dies when it fails instead of just getting stuck on the side of the road
>>
>>29011866
>Nmax
Should get a zuma. They have VVA (basically vtec)
>>
>>29011988
New Nmax has this so called boost button YECVT which is an electric controlled pulley that let you essentially shift down into powerband on CVT
which is super cool but the bike itself is almost twice the price of the chink option
>>
>>29011944
Hey the good news is they're earning Darwin awards. Imo it's like a problem that solves itself
>chang shills buy dogshit bike
>chang shill dies by an inevitable critical failure such as frames cracking (Chinese machining metals are contaminated aka inferior), electronics failing/catching on fire, the stock rubbers popping, the shitty made wheels shitting the bed, catastrophic brake failure from the terribly made master/slave cylinder or brake pads fading out from the most mundane of rides, etc
>chang shill pushed the slop on other suckers dumb enough to buy one
>they also inevitably die from Chinese quality control
>No more ox farmer shills left standing besides the ones earning their months supply of rice from the motherland
Meanwhile us free world Chads just keep winning no matter who else you're into be it the Italians, the Americans, the British, the Japanese (which btw, all Chinese people are actually Japanese mixed with Indians)
Just let the room tempature IQ ones check themselves out and the rest of us will just keep winning

It WAS here. China achieved a lot thanks to child boom and western countries moving manufacturing there. But it's all going away, China bacame another Japan in 90s, it's just not very obvious yet. Western countries don't move their manufacturing in China anymore, it's now Vietnam and Myanmar. China demographic is fucked more than everyone else including South Korea, their pension is absolutely fucked. Give it another 10 years and they are done.

China missed it's opportunity with motorcycles.
>>
Anyone recognise this front end, what bike it might be off from?
I think the wheel is from the same bike as the front is.
>>
>>29012010
The West doesn't have any more manufacturing to move and Chinese have more than enough capacity and capability to erode the remaining Western businesses into oblivion.
>>
>>29012017

>>

I forgot about that. Sadly the Nmax isn't in the US for some reason.
>>
>>29012019
>muh three gorges
The obsession china-schizos have with this one dam is bizarre. It's like the American version of the vatnik babbling about "muh nooks".

>>29011829
Modulars are over hated. People keep talking about them like it's 2006 and they aren't safe or quiet. Meanwhile, the two quietest helmets on the market are modulars and ECE regs maen they get tested to the same standard as full faces. I've got a RPHA 91 coming to replace my schuberth that fell down 6 flights of stairs.
>>
>>29012019
See how the chink shitter instantly got irritated and started dreaming about western death? It knows the hard times are coming to China and it knows that he will spend his 40ths working in a gulag factory because someone has to support a billion of old chink farts.
