I think the biggest reason electric vehicles are popular with younger people is that you don't need to go to a fucking dealership and listen to some gross scumbag talk about "Heavenly Dream Drive Mode" or whatever the fuckI don't understand how anyone under the age of like 60 could go to a GM or Ford dealership and not feel like they're being milked
>>29011746>
LOL
>>29011746I just don't have the time with ICE cars anymore. I'm working 60 hours a week. I can't go and service my car twice a year on top of the other shit that breaks down. I just leased a reliable EV instead and I don't have to think about anything anymore. Mechanics are scumbags and I don't trust them anymore after what they did to my old cars. People bitch whenever you lease a car but the fault is with the scum bag mechanics that soured people on owning older cars.
>>29011746I bought a Polaris GEM E4, and snow tires, and an aftermarket cold weather kit (battery blanket with thermostat, overmolding for the door, portable battery heater). It's a retarded POS but I fuel it in the yard with a solar panel. I have the factory controls wired to a bypass so it's neck snapping fast and 65 mph if I flick the switch.Fuck ICE fags. I'll fuckin ram you it's a golf cart, fuck you.
>>29011746Electric cars aren't popular with young people though. Unless your definition of young includes 35-45 year olds
>>29011918Not to mention that ICE cars have so many moving parts that you basically need to be a mechanic if there's any problem with it at all
>>29011746>>29011918>>29011923>>29011939Yeah but you all sound gay as fuck THOUGH
>>29011746idk why auto dealerships exist at all in 2026 ngl
>>29011746I just enjoy not going to the gas station where you have to stand around with poorfags. That's really it
>>29012091I don't care. Sounding gay beats having a part time job dealing with a car. I prefer driving cars, not tending them.
>>29012110What do you drive that requires so much maintenance?
>>29012115It used to be a low mileage 15 year old Passat. Always something warning, always some shit falling apart. I sold it off before it even reached proper mileage just because it was getting so annoying with shit falling apart. But I recognize that Passat is probably not the best example of aging with grace.
>>29012096retarded laws passed a hundred years ago by kikes and their retarded corrupted puppets
>>29011918>Working 60 hours a weekLmao
When I went to Ford to buy a Maverick the dealership guy just shat on it the entire time like it was ick and said it couldn't do anything, backseats can't go up, nobody gets the EPA mileage numbers in this town, etc.I ran through their obstacle course autistically rejecting everything and forcing them to factory order mine, in which the whole time they still kept trying to sell me something else. They started offering me warranties warning me that almost everything on the 0km vehicle will break. When I picked it up the guy shat on the wheels (xl steelies) saying I have to get rid of them. Then I just drove off not to return to the dealership again. I called them to buy a quart of rear diff fluid for it and they asked $130, but rock auto has the same bottle for $47.50.
>>29012096How would you even phase them out?
>>29012104Going to a gas station convinces me democracy does not work
>>29011918My car's starter went out on a road trip this July 4th weekend. 900 miles from home. $1100 to get it fixed, not to mention pushing back my returning dates and getting fucked over at work. I'm really starting to hate the ICE car maintenance and issues.
>>29012291It's a nightmareMy dad moved to AZ recently and he told me he wanted a Tesla since electricity is basically free out there, and he asks me to take care of a lot of paperwork stuff since he's a tradesman and doesn't like talking to peopleWhen we were driving to the Tesla dealership to pick up his car he was preemptively complaining about how they're going to be harassing him about how he needs the long range one or how he should get their charging plan or get it wrapped or get whatever else. When we got there and it was just "Please sign in here, your car is over there, let us know if you need anything else" he was completely flabbergasted by what a painless time he just had
>>29012301I've got a model three and granted it's brand new but over the three years I've had it I've had to do the followingWindshield washer fluid twiceReplaced a tire when I drove over something sharpThe only time I was really pissed was when some moron in Brooklyn did a hit and run on my car and I had to get some body work done, and it took a couple weeks to fix it up. But that could happen to anything with wheels imo
>>29012307BUT I will caveat my own point by saying this: Different manufacturers make very, very different qualities of car.I drove a Kia Niro while my Tesla was in the shop, and literally everything about it sucked ass. Every software quirk was annoying as shit, all the chargers sucked (At one point I couldn't get the charging cable to fucking release my car,) the regenerative braking basically only existed on paper, it was just garbage and I'm sure things would have been breaking left and right if I had it any longerI hear F150 Lightnings can be fickle too but idk
>>29012304I had to sit through PPE seminars where they acted like I was an abusive parent going down a slippery slope full of regrets for rejecting it. They wanted my mechanically sound 250k mile 2010 Accord as "a donation for someone needy to possibly change their life" LOL.I only wanted a base model with 3 boxes checked, bedliner optional because it could be done later.>Green>AWD>Tow pkgThey called me in to look at Green XLTs that were more expensive without tow pkg and shit like that saying "what difference does it make it this one is $3000 more on such a big purchase".After the sale they still hate me.
They're popular with rich millenials who lease vehicles, like gadgets, and do not like to wrench. They use that torque to keep up with the Joneses who have a slightly newer Rivian/Taycan/Tesla than them.
>>29011751/thread>>29011746You must be at least 18 to post here.
I dont care at all what you shills try to push. Ive driven a yer hybrid EV bullshit. I hated that stupid dumbass car. Felt like the cheapest piece of shit that cost 50k to make
I don't think people are buying EVs because of the maintenance but the maintenance part is awesome. My Tesla is nearly 7 years old over 80k miles and I had to replace the charging port door when a sensor broke. That's it. Still original brakes because so much of it is regen braking.
Lot of shills in this thread lying
>>29011746I want to experience Chinese luxury EV maximalist slop in a dealership, as presented by a Mexican guy just out of school in his first real job, where the Chinese corporate masters trying to make sure the brand takes off and that they hit numbers are breathing down sales' necks to get the over the top culturally irrelevant "golden heaven cloud ride" marketing word tracks perfectly memorized. I also want to see an empire of dust style documentary about the same subject
>>29012544Do you know what else requires zero maintenance? A leased ICE vehicle... You're going to bring up "paying for nothing" which is going to be you when your $20k EV needs a $20k battery pack.
>>29012596Well unfortunately for you I actually did research on the topic at hand so I know that battery replacement is pretty uncommon. As far as degradation goes, they nearly always have over 80% even after 1000 charge cycles. And in the event that it does suffer a rare catastrophic failure (after the 8 years warranty runs out) they only cost between 10-12k to replace.
>>29011746I'm probably gonna get an electric golf cart
I too wish for dealers to move on but lets no pretend saying no and leaving is hard.No one young is driving let alone an expensive EVI have considered a commuter EV but could never justify the cost or time. But muh 30 minute stop nigga ill drive 8 hours in a day just to take Grandma to tea.
>>29012618>i did some research on this and blahblahblah>the website or google image search i did says batteries normally have 80% life after 1000 cyclesWow super genius.

If I had to buy a car I would have to buy an EV or be forced to park further away from my house. The city center is a zero emission zone and I can't complain about breathing clean air.Thankfully I'm not into cars, I prefer two wheels. They are more fun and also not subject to zero emission rules. But I consider buying an electric motorcycle anyway just because they feel more enjoyable, more relaxing. The lack of noise and vibrations lets you experience the flight on two wheels. The correct question is not "why EVs are popular?", the correct question is "Why would anyone buy a stinky noisy high-vibration high-maintenance vehicle that consumes expensive juice when they have a quieter cleaner smoother option?".For motorcycles the answer to the correct answer is one word: range. For cars, there is often no good answer, so people make the obvious choice: buy a nicer vehicle.
>>29013736>For motorcyclesE-Bikes are not motorcycles.Unless it's at least 1000cc ICE it's not even a scooter.
>>29013752It rides like a motorcycle, weights like a motorcycle, looks like a motorcycle — it is a motorcycle.
>>29012854during coof people started modifying long-range mobility scooters to have enclosed canopy things like those shitty trail "UTVs" and big gearing to hit 30-40kmh then died after like a year. people tell me it's because they werent legal but people have ebikes and monowheels and shit now so idk how the concept hasn't come back and poors aren't driving what are essentially tiny golf carts everywhere
>>29013759Thanks ChatGPT!
>>29011918>I'm working 60 hours a week.kek
>>29013834You know that punctuation sign was used before LLMs existed, right?
>>29013736>would anyone buy a stinky noisy high-vibration high-maintenance vehicle that consumes expensive juice when they have a quieter cleaner smoother option?because they used to be fun.now everything tries to mimic the EV experience while requiring the effort and maintenance of a regular car that in another era, would've been - if not fun - actually engaging to drive.
>>29012301if you have the time and tools to restore an old car to running condition they can be really good for dailying. because they were built in an era where the owner was expected to do a fair bit of work to keep them running and things had to be replaced or serviced relatively often, most cars as a result were built with lots of room to work in, basic tools were all that was needed for any roadside repairs.with today's aftermarket and advances in tech, you can now push these service intervals to nearly that of modern cars while still being able to swap shit out on the side of the road if something does break.
>>29013867>because they used to be fun.Is this really the case, or is it nostalgia talking?I'm not a car guy so I really don't know.Due to the raw, physical nature of motorcycling both ICE and EV are equally fun (with differences ofc, just like V2 is different from i4), can't complain in that regard.
>>29013880drive a land yacht from the 60s, then drive a land yacht from today (e.g. bmw 7 series). today's cars are much more refined. back then they had seriously boosted steering (i could turn the wheel with my pinky while the car was stopped before i had it modified for more feel and effort), but there's still something about them that makes them fun to drive, and it's not just having a big honking vee ayte that also sounds so fucking good either.
>>29013847They think anything under 1000ccs isnt a bikeThey have severe brain damageDont argue with them

>>29013716How do you deal with the dealers suing you?

If they had simply kept building reliable shitboxes no one would even consider EVs. Also misguided “safety” and emissions rules that actually decrease safety and increase emissions and also ruin cars. >>29012329those donations go to israel, unironically
>>29011746I personally love to go in person. You see.. by the time I’m ready to buy a car I have saved up cash and waited to time the market for dealer and factory incentives. At that point most of the better colors and trims have all been sold so you get the more extreme colors which I for one do not care what color my car is so this is what I do.Right when I get the dealership I park obnoxiously in the front get out and just stare at the vehicle I want, usually the highest trim available, often times stroking my chin in an over the top ponding look. After the overly polite sales man greets me I almost always interrupt them mid-sentence to ask if this is all they have and if they have any of some not on lot color or trim. After listening to their apologetic retort it is at this point that I ask about ordering that specific model and color. As you know, the dealership must pay using their credit line, upfront; limiting their ability to purchase better selling inventory. This is when they always try to sell me an on the lot version of what I’m asking for, usually in a similar color. So I contemplate their proposal but ask for the car to be heavily discounted. Now this doesn’t have to be a battle of wits or a bazaar barter. If they decline to discount I simply leave and come back a week later. But if they also consider it then this is when things get fun. It’s when, after agreeing on a dealer discount, but before anything is signed, I mention the factory rebates. This is when every single sales manager gets vocally upset. About half of them revoke the dealer discounts. Thats fine, I’ll see you next week. I learned this from my grandfather and it works pretty well, I have gotten exactly what I wanted trim wise 100% of the time at 30% discount. With motorcycles, you wait 6 months
