Are wilwood brakes any good?
I can't say I trust my OE brakes very much.
I've put HPS pads & high temp DOT4 on, but still don't have the confidence I want in them.

if you're cooking brakes then pads and rotors will make more of a difference than pistons 95% of the time, and the 5% of the time it doesn't you're going to know enough to not have to ask strangers on the internet

You’re not gonna see brake rotors climbing past 1,000°F outside a real race track.

I ran into problems with a two-piece bolted rotor on my race car.
The aluminum hat expands faster than the outer ring once it gets really hot. Makes the outer ring cone out.
You can see the bad wear pattern inn my pic.
Brakes would start to pulse a little when hot, and the pad knockback would worsen.
I had no clue what was causing it until some bald HillBilly running a stock car told me why not lug float rotors are no good.

The pad did not overheat.
The rotor didn't overheat either, temp paint showed around 1,200F.
Pretty normal for rotors on track.
It's the warpage from the non LUG float design that was the issue.

So then post your brake ducting. 1200f instantaneous and sustained are 2 different things. Aluminum expands twice as much with heat as steel. If it were an inherent design flaw with 2 piece rotors no race team would use them. You're doing something wrong.

That would be 1,200F as the highest temp the rotor got.
Temp paint only reads the max temps.
I'm not rich enough to drop $3,000 on a IR brake temp recording set up.

Float rotor= good on track
Pic has a deflector missing to move air to the rotor center. It fell off driving back home.

So assuming your "deflector" is just the dust shield with a hole cut in it, You're just cooling the back side of the rotor. Different rates of thermal expansion etc, youre gonna end up with a concave rotor like this. You need to direct air through the middle of the rotor with your setup so it evenly cools the front and back face of the rotor evenly.
