Are wilwood brakes any good?I can't say I trust my OE brakes very much.I've put HPS pads & high temp DOT4 on, but still don't have the confidence I want in them.
>>29012527I have the forged superlights and like them
>>29012527>>29012532>Not using a floating Brake rotor. It's like you fags want shitty brakes.
>>29012593brakes aren't the limiting factor. stock brakes are plenty to lock up the tires. better tires are going to be more useful than better brakes.
>>29012527What's the thought process of using dot4 fluid to give better confidence in your OEM brakes?
>>29012527>I can't say I trust my OE brakes very much. You don't need anything more than genuine brakes. If Police cars can drive around all day and take part in Police chases with stock brakes, so can you
>>29012595>brakes aren't the limiting factor. stock brakes are plenty to lock up the tires. better tires are going to be more useful than better brakes.
>>29012611lol got em
>>29012595I agree that tires are more important. But 2 peace non-floating rotors are dogshit. Those types of rotors get hot and warp.Causes pad knockback and brake judder.>>29012611Low quality baitI'm disappointed in you.
>>29012619>But 2 peace non-floating rotors are dogshit.>Those types of rotors get hot and warplol you are talking out of your ass
>>29012623>This nigga doesn't know what a fully floating brake rotor isNever been on a race track eh?It shows.
>>29012679Never owned a car or turned a wrench? It shows.
>>29012686Ya, I know you haven't.You've probably never even seen a track pad let alone install one.The $700 price tag is enough to scare you away.
>>29012527>Are wilwood brakes any good?yeah they're bredy gudif you're cooking brakes then pads and rotors will make more of a difference than pistons 95% of the time, and the 5% of the time it doesn't you're going to know enough to not have to ask strangers on the internet
>>29012593For anyone not on a proper racetrack, that's completely irrelevant. You’re not gonna see brake rotors climbing past 1,000°F outside a real race track.>>29012623I ran into problems with a two-piece bolted rotor on my race car.The aluminum hat expands faster than the outer ring once it gets really hot. Makes the outer ring cone out.You can see the bad wear pattern inn my pic.Brakes would start to pulse a little when hot, and the pad knockback would worsen.I had no clue what was causing it until some bald HillBilly running a stock car told me why not lug float rotors are no good.
>>29012784so let me get this straight, your brakes overheated outside of operating design and that's somehow the brakes fault? Post your home depot brake ducting so I can laugh at you.
>>29012598higher number better
>>29013035The pad did not overheat. The rotor didn't overheat either, temp paint showed around 1,200F. Pretty normal for rotors on track. It's the warpage from the non LUG float design that was the issue.Anon, please read before commenting!
>>29013406So then post your brake ducting. 1200f instantaneous and sustained are 2 different things. Aluminum expands twice as much with heat as steel. If it were an inherent design flaw with 2 piece rotors no race team would use them. You're doing something wrong.
>>29013507That would be 1,200F as the highest temp the rotor got.Temp paint only reads the max temps.I'm not rich enough to drop $3,000 on a IR brake temp recording set up.>no race team would use themNo race team uses a NON float 2 part rotor. That's my whole fucking point here.....Non float rotor= bad on trackFloat rotor= good on trackPic has a deflector missing to move air to the rotor center. It fell off driving back home.
W I L D W O O D ILDWOO
>>29013810So assuming your "deflector" is just the dust shield with a hole cut in it, You're just cooling the back side of the rotor. Different rates of thermal expansion etc, youre gonna end up with a concave rotor like this. You need to direct air through the middle of the rotor with your setup so it evenly cools the front and back face of the rotor evenly.
>>29014340Damn anon, you are dumb as fuck.Like fuck bro.
>>29012527Wilwood are cheap off the shelf slop
>>29012527I'll let you know.I bought the Spec Corvette racing kit but haven't installed it yet.
