Motorcycles didn't have clutches early on, and when they first got clutches (they were sold at the time as an option, and were called "free engine"), the clutches mainly replaced decompression levers to make starting the motorcycle easier. One of the early marketing ploys on motorcycles was to remove the pedals - but this was before the kickstarter - to show how certain you were that your motorcycle would easily be push or paddle started into motion.
For timeline, the first Harley-Davidson and the first Triumph with a clutch came the same year, 1911. In Triumph's case, they spent a few years without gears (gearing was originally accomplished by changing the belts), but Harley went right away to a three gear system.

Kawasaki made Hybrid, and its a "strong hybrid" meaning muscle bike rice rocket, and its got issues. Not sure if its PHEV, but I don't think so, it charges batt off ICE.

(btw all Toyota dealers in SF Gay Area, including their Service Dept "prius expert" are so stupid they didn't know about the CRG feature where the motor charges the batt in about 25 miles from.)

Anyways, why I want is a commuter/adventure PHEV about size of 650 V-storm. Twin water cooled 300cc able to sustain 80+mph (with some streamlining), and the rest battery.
Make it able to go up a few flights of stairs in EV and 5-10 miles EV range.

Be able to LARP as "just an electric bicycle" on "no motor vehicles allowed" Open Space parks. Also include good Power Outlet including 110V, even if a fuse limits it.

Maybe make a version that is AWD.

Get a long and small diameter wood screw and it screw it into the seal. Then with a prybar or pull side of a hammer extract the seal via pulling the fastener head.
Just be careful not to score the sidewalls as you set the screw in the seal.

Side-by-sides and those car wide 3 wheel mobility scooters are the greatest sellers at powersport dealers these days. They allow buyers to get something to stave their midlife crisis without putting in any minimum effort like the MSF
>>
>>29014582
My local powersports dealer told me motorcycles are the smallest part of their profit, even after snowmobiles in my part of the country
I think this is why BMW, Harley, Triumph, and the Italians have so much more SOUL these days than the big four, but especially Yamaha Honda Kawasaki who have very large powersports markets besides motorcycles.

A while back I posted about how I got a notice from police impound that the bike I sold was involved in a crash, and hadn't been registered in the new owners name.

I was curious so I filed for a copy of the police report. The very nice, polite, and excited guy that bought it nailed a pickup truck in an intersection with a passenger on the back and they both ended up in the hospital. Him with life threatening injuries.

This feel is really fucking me up.

If he didn't sell that bike the buyer would end up on different bike withing another universe timeframe, where he most likely would not crash. So yeah, it's kinda on anon for selling the bike to exactly that guy.

same is true of most companies actually. any [THING] company only truly shines when they make [ADJACENT BUT NOT THING]. you think bombardier is good at making skidoos and seadoos and planes and shit? no. overpriced slop. the real shit is goddamn buses motherfucker. they make the best city buses on the goddamn planet and no one asked for them to do so, they did it just for the love of the game (the game is defrauding the quebec government but somehow they fucked up and lost contracts but made the best friend-shaped vehicle this side of a railway)

another option is get a bike lock
and loop it through your helmet visor to handle bar or frames

>>
>>29014640
Yeah I mean I know it's not my fault, it just feels bad that a really nice bike that should have brought many years of joy to future riders is destroyed, and that two people got seriously injured in ways that are definitely going to fuck their life up even if they recover ok.
>>29014658
He fucked up, no doubt. He chose to try and run a yellow, didn't make it, and the driver of the truck didn't wait to see if he was stopping before he entered the intersection. At least that's how the report reads.

It's a stupid mistake but it's an easy one to make, and if you have been there yourself you're probably lying. He did it, and he got unlucky. At least they were both wearing helmets, jackets, and gloves.

>>
>>29014794
Option 1. Store it in a backpack and bring it with you (smartest option)
Option 2. Dedicated helmet lock system
Option 3. Hang the helmet off the handle bar that is closest to the fuel tank then lock the steering with it closed. You can do it in a way that doesn't allow you to slide the helmet off the bars. Be sure to take off your Cardo unit if you do leave the helmet because it's super easy to slide off and pocket it.

Personally, I'd rather carry my helmet just for peace of mind knowing where it is. It also makes for a fantastic cudgel.
