Whatever shitbox these guys were driving they'd install 10,000 watts of amplifiers in a displayable location, and just jam speakers and TV screens wherever they'd fit. It was coupled with rice because like the rice, its all just for show. It made the car unusable for anything other than taking a photo (for what was known as a "magazine cover shoot" because they didn't have the internet for instagram yet. Whoever had the wildest, most impractical sound system wins the show because it had nothing to do with the car or the look of the car, it was all about the interior.

They've stagnated ever since because realistically they've peaked in their utility.A 50 buck 4x50W bluetooth pioneer nowadays will absolutely rape any fancy 90s head unit in pretty much every sense aside for aesthetics and MUH SOUL.I paid 600 bucks for a period correct head unit and another 500 bucks or so for an amplifier, speakers, a bluetooth receiver and a days worth of work to get the same results as the placeholder 50 buck bluetooth pioneer headunit did.But it does look SICK AS FUCK GOD DAMN

When they do work, theyre awesome though, and I like that its the TOTR model, with electronic cassette control etc, and a phone. It also has AUX input so im using that with some cheapo bluetooth receiver for now bcs i havent managed to crack the CD changer bus.And the gooseneck....for some reason it sold quite well in my country back then, so theres quite a lot of them, and theyre comparatively cheap compared to international prices but still...i have 2 of them too rn, and only one works marginally okay...even after resoldering and shits. DESU im really over it, and im planning to just stick a modern DSP after the radio, and call it a day.And answering the guy asking about old audio, man it sucks, and your best shot is to buy one thats already refurbished, or buy one cheap and get them recapped and so on. This is true both for car audio or home HIFI stack lol. Ive been burnt too many times buying old shits. Probably what would be worth it is old good home speakers with some nice modern amps
