Are there any detailers here? I have put wax on my car for over 10 years, but I want to learn how to properly polish a car; which polisher should I get?

Start with polishing your grammar.

Polishing by hand is safest. Turtle Wax polish is fine.

Since you seem new to this, some definitions:

Rubbing Compound: A harsh abrasive meant to scour through rough imperfections.
Polish: A fine abrasive meant to take away fine imperfections and leave a mirror-like finish
Wax: A coating on top that can protect the paint/clearcoat and give a shine of its own.

Compound and polish act to wear away your paint/clearcoat. You don't "apply" them to the surface, you rub with them to take off the roughness and bring it down to smooth, and smooth is what gives you the reflections. You should stay away from compound due to its ability to really cut through paint. Unless you have a Ferrari there's should be enough paint/clearcoat for decades of reasonable polishing.

For a finisher I use Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions ceramic. It's just spray on and wipe off, unlike waxing which takes work to buff off.

Watch watch AMMO Clean guy on YouTube.
His content is repetitive but good for a few watches.

>which polisher should I get?
As a beginner you would want a random orbit polisher, rather than a rotary polisher which is much more aggressive.

Solid advise. I agree with your post.
