LOL, I did it. 3lb motorcycle battery on order for the Coupe to save 40lbs.
So I'll need to figure out some way to connect it.

A jump pack for backup is under a pound.

Dieting is free.

Why not covert to AAs? Way less wait
>>
Is that thing enough to crank the starter without immediately going flat?
>>

I’ve done this a few times. Make sure to minimize vibrations and heat and carry a backup jumper. Just use thick gauge wires, one side screws onto the terminals the other side screws onto your harness wiring.

lithium batteries crank much better than lead acid, it’ll be fine. But has less overall capacity so you can run them dry quickly if you leave the lights on or whatever.

Newfags. Want to do the job properly, convert to button cells

8Ah can crank at 680A for 42 seconds.

I'm planning on encasing it in styrofoam. Should even out the temperature.

Anon, using motorcycle lithium batteries on cars is a bad idea.
I know guys that tryed this on race cars and their car would start malfunctioning mid-lap because the battery voltage was dropping.
I would say 15 amp hours the absolute minimum you should have on a car.

Yea fuck off I'm good

Losing 40lbs is hard unless you're a complete fatass

actual retard logic

No it is physically incapable of providing more than about 220 amps.
the highest quality most brand new lithium battery built for low resistance (your lifepo4 chemistry, chinese special is none of these) would have about 1 milliohm internal resistance. that resistance number means about 220 to 250 amps is the physical limit unless you're overheating the battery severely.

if you're doing it to reduce weight you're much better off doing a relocation instead.

Just get an XS Power battery idiot

I went from 153 a week ago to 138 today.
Just get a disease where your body eats itself (including organs like the brain)! Super easy, barely an inconvenience. Fucking sucks if I’m honest. I’m comically skinny and vomit multiple times a day, not intentionally.
I think OP has a decent idea, nothing wrong with saving weight in a car if you can.

Dude what could go wrong?
>Lithium battery + exorbitant amount of heat
Imagine torching your DD because you wanted to trim the weight of a grocery bag for your commute to work.
One less idiot on the road I guess....

There are and for a good reason lithium batteries for cars so if you think about changing your battery for weight just get a model for cars save some weight and be happy about it.
