The optimal size for riding is around there because it lets you enjoy bikes with lower weights and normal tire sizes. If all you ever do is off roading, being tall is great. Otherwise its not. Also a 33 inch seat height is nowhere near as crazy as you think, and a t7 is going to get you everywhere a tuareg will just as fast and without blowing up.
