Scissor lift in garage with low ceiling - yes or no?
I'm losing my mind when I have to work laying under the car, using jack stands. Would this be an improvement? I still would not be able to get under the car while standing up, but at least I could be hunched like a medieval miner?

do these things have safety mechanisms like locks for in case something breaks while everything is engaged?
the hydraulics look like a single point of failure that would make things go south quickly if they gave out while the car is in the air

Yes they do.

Also fuck working on the floor. Took me like 2 hours to change my headers and overpipe on my frs crawling around on my back. Would have been 15 with a proper lift. My garage ceiling is only like 6 feet when my garage door is open.

The ones we had in our vocational school 2 decades ago had locks to them.
I think you can see the locks on these too in the middle of the base plate, a cam and tooth type of thing or whatever you yanks call them.
You engage them by lifting it until it goes click then backing down until it locks into place.

Think you need doggy board instead

The real question is why are you spending so much time under your car?
Ya theyre nice to sit on a stool and do brakes and suspension but they limit what you can access by design. Youre not pulling a transmission or exhaust with one for example.

Benefits of this over quickjacks? Obviously it can go higher, but it's still not high enough that you can actually stand under it, and the access seems way better with a quickjack.
