Hey everyone. Just bought my wife a 2019 Porsche Cayenne Turbo with 34k miles. Engine is 4.0L TT V8. Test drove it for 20 minutes and had no problems. After purchasing, 15 min into driving home this sound starts happening and got Engine Control Unit pop up on the dash. Anyone know what this sound could be coming from? Not sharp enough to be a rod knock imo. That softness to how the tapping begins and ends sounds like there's an oil cushion that is being squeezed out through a passage such as with a lash adjuster (aka lifter) or cam phaser and I'm leaning toward it being a phaser due to the volume. If the tapping proves to be in the area of a lash adjuster then I'd be worried about cam damage since that's really loud which would suggest significant free play is present.
