Best gasoline engineBest diesel engineBest EVHow the fuck do they do it? Serious answers only
>>29022973There's no such thing as a good diesel engine. They're all various degrees of bad. Diesel cars are the most unfun cars ever.
>>29022973>Best gasoline engineM30>Best diesel engineM57>Best EVLow barI've a theory that BMW is capable of making good stuff, but only when they're prodding Benz in an attempt to one up them.Benz has been severely lacking lately.
>>29022976the ones in ships and locomotives are kinda cool
>>29022973>Best EVNot sure about that. The i4 is good but so expensive. The iX3 has impressive range and charging but it's still a hugely overpriced standard SUV by day's end. Whoever makes a no-bullshit low priced EV with good range will basically win the whole market.
>>29022973OM617 is probably the best passenger car diesel ever. For truggs the Cummins 5.9 and for everything else the Detroit Diesel 71/53 series. Best ICE is probably the 2UZ Best EV is whatever the chicoms are making rn. Germans cannot compete. So yeah I disagree. Pre 95 or thereabouts BMWs are pretty good I like the character of an M20 over an M30. I don't like the new ones really too unreliable and ugly af.
>>29023004>Best EV is whatever the chicoms are making rn. Germans cannot compete. The Germans have already upended the chinks at the EV game too. The CLA250+ and the BMW i3 makes Chinese crap look like decade old stuff.
>>29023005Last I checked the german car industry was about to go belly up due to being unable to compete with the low margins that chinks are able to operate at for a myriad of reasons. I'm not an EV or gook shill, I drive a 30 year old german shitbox, but it's looking bad rn is it not. Who's buying an i3 when you can just get an equally sovless transportation pod like a BYD for a third of the price.
>>29023004>Best ICE is probably the 2UZif you're going to pick a V8 it has to be the LS. it's too versatile to be anything else.
>>29023025I was thinking in pure, raw reliability terms and the ability to rack up miles without any major mechanical work being required other than routine servicing, but looking at it more holistically it is hard to fault the LS.
>>29023009Things are dire everywhere. China is also having a massive crisis but are hiding it. I think the German brands will prevail and chinkshit will be banned entirely from the west.
>>29023004Didn't the 2uz suffer from cracked manifolds and I've heard of cases where the crank moved against the thrustwashers and hit the block, don't you yanks call that crankwalk? Also it's got a timing belt so that immediately drops it bellow whatever yanktank shitbarge chain driven vee ayte.I wouldn't honestly put it above even the BMW M60 V8. Maybe on par.
>>29023062Idk I'm Ausfag I just have a 100 series sahara and she goes mint. got 470k on it all I've done was rocker cover gasket, water pump and timing chain. It was meticulously maintained by the old guy that owned it previously tho. It's that classic beige on beige retiree spec.
>>29022973Blik met wielen.
>>29022978I like the M30 but it's a boat anchor known for eating camshafts and breaking rocker arms.
>>29023112Fair enough, I'd still say it's either the M30 or M50 despite the seething they cause.Overall best BMW engines, although I'd personally claim the M70B50 V12 is the best engine BMW has made and overall best engine ever made.
BMW peaked about 4 years ago, I don't know whats gotten into them but their current offerings are a flaming trash heap. If they dont figure it out soon China is gonna put them out of business.
>>29023147The transmissions behind them are very reliable, mine hasn't let me out of 2nd gear in 6 months. My big black dominatrix asks many things of me.
>>29023027The LS in a Express or a work truck goes through 10x the abuse and neglect a 2UZ will ever see in it's life. The timing chain in a LS is usually good for the life of the engine where it has to be replaced every 100k miles in a 2UZ. imo that disqualifies it from being abuse friendly and low maintenance.
>>29022973The only ones who still give a shit and have a dedicated audience of sports car buyers.Mercedes gave up making good cars after 2015-ishAudi/VW have been making the same unreliable cars since the 90sHonda has been coasting of their "muh reliability" and selling overpriced fwd econoboxes for a while nowSame with Toyota except for the gr86 (subaru) and the supra (bmw)>subaruThe only real current competition I see are Ford with the new Mustangs and Chevy with the vettes.
>>29023001>Whoever makes a no-bullshit low priced EV with good range will basically win the whole market.Unironically China. Everywhere that they're allowed to enter the market, they dominate the EVs. >inb4 china bad!! >:(Yes. However, unless the EU or US unfucks 50 years worth of bad industrial policy (they won't), that ship has sailed.
This is now a BMW hate thread
>>29022973It appears you have posted the bmw logo instead of the ford logo like you intended to anon
