Bought one new in 1980. Cost $499 from the dealer. It actually would manage 45mph and got me to school and back. Eventually chopped the forks down, put cafe bars on it, hopped the shit out of the motor, and put a big-ass carb and expansion pipe on it. Then it would go 55mph at 12,000 RPM. Sounded like a chainsaw on crack. Good times . . .

One guy here recommended replacing the rear shocks with longer 280mm ones (~$100 in parts, DIY labor) and replacing the 16 inch rear wheel with an 18 inch for better handling I guess? Anyway, I think I’ll do the oil change / spark plug change myself, maybe new tires, and see how it drives. Found one in good shape for $1400 that doesn’t look like it needs anything.

Yeah. Not sure how necessary that is, but seems easy to do. I also found someone who makes new reeds from carbon fiber for like $30, might be an easy maintenance item too.
