Well /o/, do you zipper merge, or are you part of the problem?
>>
what if you live in nog ville and getting in front of someone for any reason is treated as a slight. in that scenario, you either get over when you notice the lane closed up ahead or you risk the person you have to merge in front of being a nog and blocking you. it happens.

Staged video. Its impossible to have that many cars

Imagine if you were in a cafeteria and there were two lines to get food, but the one you were in closed.

They didn't just close it suddenly, they put signs out that your line was closing in 10 minutes, then 5 minutes, and finally 1 minute. Most everyone in front of you moved over as the time ticked down and a spot was open, but you stayed in place knowing your line was going to close and you would have to move over anyways.

Then when your line finally closed and you had no choice but to move over, you try forcing your way in and get angry when the people who moved over earlier don't want to let you cut. You act like it's some huge societal problem and start screaming and crying and stamping your feet that you did the right thing and it's everyone else who was wrong.

That's what you look like when you zipper merge.

this isn't getting solved until full autonomous reaches a critical mass

I prefer to stop and react to some faggot trying to zipper merge than to butt heads with some retard who doesn't want to let me merge
>>
>>29026861
More like staged because no one will ever let you in if you try this shit.
>>
non zipper mergers need to hang
>>
mathematically speaking, does that actually move a higher volume of cars through the bottleneck faster, or does it just make the line appear shorter but since the amount of cars stays the same the transit time does too?
>>
>>29026950
it actually makes it slower through the bottle neck because of the braking and reaction time required to zipper merge (which never ends up being a zipper merge)

how long the line is has little to do with the rate of flow through the bottleneck

but retards tend to mentally model traffic as a queue rather than correctly as a flow
>>
>>29026848
Beaners can't zipper merge. That's why I added a tow hitch and bull guard
>>
>>29026848
>Well /o/, do you zipper merge

I do, I'd get in a little earlier because I'm not that blatant. They're unironically right though, not using both lanes makes the traffic congestion worse than it needs to be.
>>
>>29026978
>it actually makes it slower through the bottle neck because of the braking and reaction time required to zipper merge
If you're doing it properly nobody needs to change their speed.
The ideal traffic flow on a multi lane city street is a staggered column travelling at or above the speed limit, where every car can freely move between lanes as needed.
>>
>>29026907
lots of spic-nig cycling goes on here, yes
>>
Mutts can't drive, why does this need a thread?
>>
>>29026848
It's because of retards like this that uber slow traffic, massive jams and bottlenecks happen.
Also, Tesla... Might as well drive around town in a good cart
>>
>>29026848
You're not zipper merging if all the retards already pilled into one lane.
>>
>>29026950
Yes. Both lanes are able to continue moving up to the merge then move into a single lane. You only get the stop and go traffic jams when retards all pile into one lane early and back up traffic bumper to bumper bringing both lanes to a stop. My city knows this and will paint solid white lines and post stay in your lane signs a mile ahead of the zipper merge section when taking a highway birdge to a single lane and only have dashed lines at the merge with a sign stating to take turns. At 1st they didnt do this and we had retards all merging early and backing up one lane and then forcing a stop and go traffic jam but once they did the forced zipper merge it allowed cars to flownfromn2 lanes into one at highway speeds.

>no one will ever let you in if you try this shit.

Sadly, there is always some dumbass who lets the line jumper in.

"Zipper merges" are bullshit, as it requires HUMANS to behave like robots and humans simply don't behave that way, there will always be assholes who zoom up to the head of the line and push their way in, forcing all the cars to break and come to a stop, further delaying everyone.

I've lost count of the times big rig truckers got pissed off and blocked the outside lane, whereupon traffic _immediately_ begins flowing smoothly when the assholes get the door shut in their face.
>>
>>29026848
ok but he's still stopped at the bottleneck anyway. i will never understand why people seethe about "zipper merging" from either side

>aieeee but im not at the front of the line always
>aieeee but someone is skipping the line
the line still moves at half speed either way because of the lane closure THOUGH
>>
>>29027382
>the line still moves at half speed either way

Except that’s not true. If everybody moved over the moment they saw the merge sign, traffic would roll right thru the work zone.

Traffic grinds to a halt at zipper merges because of assholes racing up to squeeze in at the front.
>>
I don't zipper merge because I live in an area where I have never had the need to zipper merge.

Uhhuh, except this isn't a lunch line with a non existent lane, this is a line of traffic where some people are predictably slower at moving forward thus creating gaps for one to enter which speeds to the whole procession. Zipper merging helps relieve congestion but people don't do it because they don't want to "look bad" for seizing the brass ring of logic.
I would love to see a graph that tracks zipper mergers and whether or not they took the Clot shot. Zipper mergers are princes among men.
>>
>>29026848
you wait i will drive on the bumper of the person in front of me to prevent a zippertard
>>
i stay glued to the front guys bumper just to prevent zippers from getting in, go ahead try to wedge in i am not yielding
>>
when someone is glud to my rear bumper i let the guy trying to zipper merge go past him and in front of me. the resulting seethe in the rear view mirror never gets old
