I'm now old enough to want this car. The 2014 D5 variant seems like a nice compromise between modern safety options and old school reliability. Is buying diesel stupid nowadays?
I've heard that the D5 is the only diesel worth getting. Personally, I want a S80 V8, although I'd imagine maintaining one would be hideously expensive.

>>29029300I drive the same year stock Volvo V70 D5 and the electric seats are very comfy. Longest drive without a break was around 3h, back felt fine. Car has ~ 250K miles aka 370K kilometers. Would love to try V8.
>>29029299cheaper to maintain compared to say a S60R Yamaha did good work on that V8it's pretty robust but the whole issue is that it's trannyverse and the engine bay is extremely tight so wrenching on it isn't fun and that is where the expensive to maintain part comes in because labor takes awhile and because of that labor costs alot especially for quirks like the alternator being shoved down into the bay or the whole dash needed to come out to replace the blower motoreven the valve covers are very much unfun to get open to replace the gaskets that have a tendency to leak especially they get older

Is the D2 variant pretty much useless? 115hp doesn't sound like much at all. Is it even functional in modern traffic with half the drivers owning 400hp EVs?
