God I can't wait till I finally get home and can buy some good noise-canceling earbuds. I can do heat but I can't fucking do sound anymore man. Used to when I first started out but not anymore. Having to sleep next to a busy highway or a reefernigger just murders me.

Speaking of, do y'all have a specific brand you use? I don't care about the money, I will shill out my entire salary if it means I never have to get earraped during rest hours again.

The Honda CR-V is such a brainlet vehicle. Chances are that if you see one going the same direction as you, it will ruin someone's day by going the speed limit in the hammer lane.
>>
I think I understand why you guys in the US find highways stressful lol
>>
>>29033153
It can go as high as 85mph speed limit in some places. There's stretches of I-80 where the limit is 80mph for basically hundreds of miles with few interruptions. Coming around a blind corner at 76k doing 72mph down a slight grade to find some retarded jiggaboo stalled out in the right lane and an equally retarded bitch to the left of you taking their sweet time passing is a real fun experience.

I shaded over into the hammer lane and got on the brakes doing it and dumb bitch got on the shoulder and suddenly remembered how to push the pedal all the way down. Technically I could've just plowed into the groid stalled on the goddamn highway and if they had died I wouldn't have been at fault because they're that monumentally retarded, but I'd rather not kill anyone and I'd like to not be out of work for a month while the investigation exonerated me and the truck got fixed. But yeah it's like 95% boredom and 3% gridlock and 2% pants shitting terror where decisions you make in milliseconds determine the course of your and other people's lives. There's a reason why I get black out drunk at least once every time I go home and park the rig.

>>

Yes, but not because you can't be engagement for a retarded social media post, but because you work for a shithole with high enough turnover they have to make tiktok videos to keep asses in seats. Likely because they don't pay shit.
>>
I've learned the hard way to not deliver to a large coastal metropolis city unless you're starting the day already close by.

Do not think you're going to drive 500 miles to get to it, deliver, and then still have enough time to park.

From here on out, I will make sure to stage just outside of cities, before delivering. Dispatch and planners and DMs can bitch and complain, too fucking bad. I'm keeping my CDL clean.
>>
>>29033964
Same if you have to run mountains. Shit takes fucking forever and there will be zero parking available along your route. Plus you run the risk of dealing with a breakdown or a road closure. Best to start with a full clock, not worth it unless you've got more than half minimum.

Yesterday there was an Indian who locked himself out of his truck. Old guy wearing a turban. Sikh looking mofo.

Anyway, I'm no fan of poos in general, but I decided to help him because I know how much it sucks being locked out of a vehicle. He was using a lockout recovery kit that you get at the truck stops, with the wire and door wedges, the plastic container was on the ground in front of his truck, with the rest of the kit.

Anyway, I help him get the wire fished around his door handle, he thanks me, I say no problem.

Next morning I see he left the plastic packaging right on the ground in the parking lot.

I tried to have a moment of humanity, where I wanted to do something nice, and then see he's just a fucking disrespectful street shitter who throws his trash on the ground.

Yeah, I just wanted to see if there would be a tiny reprieve from my worst assumptions about people always being proven to be accurate. It's exhausting and demoralizing. Thought maybe I'd get proven wrong. Nope, he's just like the ones who dump their trash in the river back home, except he's here and not there.

Since starting this job, one of the hardest parts for me has been seeing that we're actually so my much worse off than I had even realized. Most truck stops, I swear I could be in Mogadishu.

It makes me fucking sick to be surrounded by filth every day and night, but what can I do, I'm not rich enough to be insulated from the reality of the situation, to just numb myself with distractions until I die, pretending like everything is alright.
>>
>>29038676
There is plenty you can do but none of it will improve things, for the fight was already lost 60 years ago when (((they))) blew Kennedy's head off. Read siege by James Mason, or alternatively its about 22 1/2 hours in audiobook form, those who see the world for what it is may find their hopelessness reversed by a change of perspective
>>
>>29038676
You've basically only got two real options. Either hope the mystery meat grows a soul and try to get it to happen by leading by example around them, or move to a different country. I tend to be the former but I'm prepared for the latter although in saying that as shitty as things are in the states it's way worse basically everywhere else. The fuck I'm gonna do, move to Russia or China? Pretty sure both would kill or imprison me the second I got off the plane.

The really demoralizing part isn't the foreigners honestly. I expect them to be retarded because they grew up in hell. But seeing other Americans that grew up here their whole lives that live and act like mongrel dogs, regardless of color, is what makes me want to give up. No manners having, impolite, churlish, entitled, retarded broke no financial discipline having ignant wiggers piss me off more than anything and they're everywhere.

>>29040518
We have Trucker Path that people can use to report parking availability at a truck stop or rest areas.
While Massachusetts does have more than two truck stops, the one that anon is referring to are major chain truck stops that hardly ever has available parking, due to them being located at major travel lanes.

Company also has zero issue with me turning a 34 into a 48 if I ask beforehand.

And my home life was trash before getting a cdl to begin with. I prefer being out on the road.

Delusional or naive, you have to figure that one out yourself. The idea that these mutts, will suddenly after 2000 + 2000 years, will make any kind of self improvement despite the very obvious state of decline the modern world is in because of them is absurd, remember they needed the wheel invented for them.
As for Russia, the nation that sends tractors to their front lines and cannibalizes museums for their antique weaponry to fight a nation not even half their size? What do you think you'll get there besides drafted or black bagged? And China? There's a reason its called the yellow tide, chinese stood with blacks in slavery in the early days of the United States' industrialization not because they were just different from evil whitey I guarantee you.

If you have a way to get internet in the truck, get a cheapie android tablet and Trucker Path. Worked pretty well for me and only rarely trolled me unlike Co-Pilot where its at least a bi-weekly occurance.

Starlink is pretty great for internet in the truck. You can just set the antenna flat on the top bunk and get solid speeds and uptime even while driving.

I've been using the same Garmin OTR 710 since I started driving 4 years ago, It's how I survived doing multi stop routes in Seattle and other towns I'd never been to before.

55 in a 25 with 3 people ahead of me going faster than me, you should see the bull haulers on that stretch.
>>
>>29055520
Guessing a downhill stretch with a truck-specific speed limit? Only time I go past that is when I'm deadhead or bobtail and theres no worry of losing control, but even then no more than 10 over regardless of the normal limit. Roadjannies are bloodhounds that hunt us doggedly so I try to keep it kosher, and I also take pride in my job and try to lead by some example.
>>
>>29055520
Bullhaulers don't have to give a fuck about tickets because their company will pay them and don't give a fuck what it costs to insure them because nobody else will work that hard and risk death that often for that little money. Unless you're living like you don't care if you die, slow the fuck down retard. Speeding gains you almost no time and highwaymen will rob you blind and fuck you out of a career just because they think it's funny and whatever bumfuck county they're in needs the ticket revenue.

Besides I know you're trolling because 30 over is reckless and you'd be going to jail if you actually did that, not shitposting.

Literally shitting in a bucket at a rest area rn. I don't understand anyone that does OTR or regional that doesn't have a way to piss and shit without leaving the vehicle and at a moments notice. I know local guys don't have the room for it in a daycab but I think they're retarded in general so they get a pass.

Five gallon bucket with a sealing lid, trash bags, bungee cord, kitty litter. Put two bags in the bucket and use the bungee around the outside to hold them in place. Put kitty litter in the bucket. Shit, wipe with paper towels, put paper towels in bucket on top of shit, clean up with wet wipes, put wet wipes in trash bag on your passenger arm rest, put more kitty litter in bucket, put lid on bucket. Shit isn't hard. You can even piss in a jug first so you're not flooding the kitty litter and making the bag heavy for no reason before you shit.

Febreeze for afterwards. Bleach wipes or hand sanitizer to wash your hands when you're done. This isn't hard to figure out.

A)any plan they come up with that doesn't have enough time for you to take a shit is doomed to fail
B)I've found that the quickest way to make something that you're waiting on to happen is to take some sort of action for yourself. In this case taking a shit. You'd already be gone if you'd taken a shit back when you first thought about it.

I've got 124 days at my first company. I'm making about $600 a week. Is there anywhere I can apply to that will hire me and not have me locked in a sleeper cab with a 500lb hambeast, I mean trainer? CA license with every endorsement and TWIC card. Spotless record.
>>
>>29057758
I watched some moronic slav waddle back and forth at a Lowe's I was dropping off at to try to talk to like 3 or 4 different people to see if he could get unloaded before me, I was able lip read the supervisor say "I can get you unloaded after him" as he pointed at me, the way he speed-waddled back to his truck in anger still makes me laugh.
>>
>>29057779
600/week in the US? That sounds like borderline slavery. Even here in europoor land they were paying greenhorns 800€/week.
>>
>>29057849
Averaging around 45 hours a week, and I'm paid $16.90 an hour. Granted the company I'm at is what it is, but I'm just here for experience and to learn the job. I've worked hard on shaving off time where I can, and organizing things so shower/bathroom trips and laundry etc are as quick and easy as I can make them for now without creating a better organization system. I've got $10 till payday right now because parking ate through my weekly budget, and that has to go towards water. I have enough bulk food to eat for the next week or two so it's not a big deal. I'd rather not be scraping by like this for too long. I can't even transfer until I save up enough to be able to afford to rent a car and move the stuff in my truck because I don't have a vehicle. So yeah, I'm basically a slave, but slowly getting out of the hole.

It's a lot tougher to drive if there's not enough weight on the steers. You lose steering feel and it becomes delayed and progressive. (you move it to an angle and she only steers a bit at first, and then it catches up. So you end up overcorrecting)

>>29055598
T680 needs it all the way in the front to even have 11k on the steers @ 80k with a tipper trailer. Putting it in the middle will lift the left steer when accelerating away from a stop and she won't turn. Needing to take your foot off the gas to make a corner ain't cool.
It was an interesting first few days on the job until I figured out what the fuck was wrong.

Diet soda is actually worse than regular though, but both should be avoided, especially when you're already eating other goyslop like low tier pizza with fake cheese.
>>
>>29066906
The healthiest way to consume soda would be none at all. Second healthiest would be to just rarely have a regular full retard pop and the smallest serving of it possible. But if you're trying to tell me that a fat bastard getting diet instead of regular soda so they're not sucking down an extra 2k kcal a day of fortified goywater is a bad thing, I'm going to call you a nigger. Weighing 600lbs will kill you faster than artificial sweeteners.

The real move is just drinking tea with like a spoonful of sugar in it, or just drinking water. I also wouldn't begrudge someone having a single 12oz regular coke if they forego carbs almost entirely with everything else they eat. The real metric is calories and as long as there's less than you're using or close to it going in you'll be fine for the most part regardless whether you're eating cheeseburgers or salad to do it. Personally I lost the most weight just getting fuckoff huge bags of baby carrots to snack on because you get full on practically zero calories.

Truck was in the shop for a week. Got it back, all the food in my fridge went bad. I was also completely out of water. I was planning to order groceries and pickup meds, and DM is pressuring me hard to just get rolling. Figured I'd just pickup an empty and park and get my stuff then. DM knowingly and willingly assigned me a red tagged trailer. I refused to move it and went to park so I could order groceries. DM then gets pissy, so I double down, and explain that its illegal to move it after they claimed that a red tag is just so the yard dogs know not to move it. I called them out on it, doubled down some more, and told them flat out I refuse to drive illegally, and that I'll be working safely, legally, and within a timeframe that sustains both, and that they're going have to wait for me to get my stuff handled first. They continued to pressure me by saying they thought I had that done by now. No, because you kept delaying me. Do I just keep pushing back on this scumbag? New driver, just trying to get my experience and go somewhere else, but also need to protect my license. Tired of the nigger behavior from my DM, the filthy jeets, and the ESL roaches. I am, and will. I'm currently parked waiting to fill a prescription, because I know that if I leave now, there is no garauntee I will be back in the area to pick it up before I run out. I've stocked up on food, and have a full tank, so I can wait them out for a while if need be. Is it possible they will just fire me at this point just for waiting to fill a prescription? The only reason I have been able to fill them before has been sheer dumb luck. Though I've cleared out a good bit of gas from the fires they've been lighting, and it does not seem wise to bet on them keeping their word as far as getting me near where I can pickup my medication. Nothing wholly against the company itself, but the behavior of some of the employees is in need of smoothing out.

Same poster from earlier here with an update. Picked up meds today, and told DM this. Here's the exchange. Am I fired? I packed my stuff and I haven't gone to the terminal yet. I know bait when I see it, but part of me is hoping it isn't wholly bad. Thoughts? I did ask to be trained in flatbed months ago, but didn't hear back about it much other than I'd need to swap trucks to do it, though given the recent developments I don't trust it.

DM - I need truck return to the yar d to be reseat ! if you are going to ch ange to flat bed right now is a goodt ime for it i need truck retunr back to reseat

DM - please call the Terminal Manager immediately

Driver - I have picked up my medication, and taken care of the basic necessities that I needed to take care of before being able to safely and legally begin driving again. I am ready to go as soon as I receive answers to my previous inquiries. I do not mind starting fresh in the morning if that is the safer thing to do. I do have an email that the terminal manager is able to reach me at if need be. If not that then the tablet works aswell. Thank you

DM - bring the truck to the Ter minal and see the Terminal Manager in the morning

Yes that is how they type. Either all caps yelling or broken up words. Idk what to make of this. I'm homeless outside of this truck, and just want to work. I have no one. I went ahead and sent them "Will I be seated in a different truck and transferred to the flatbed division? Everything I own is currently in my assigned truck. I do not have a place to stay, or anyway of safely transporting my belongings outside of this truck. let alone the resources to get it. Please let me know here on the tablet beforehand so I can plan accordingly." Idk what to do. I know I can't sit here for too long before they probably send someone to repossess it.
>>
>>29069809
It's pretty obvious to me that they want you gone. Usually they starve a driver out rather than fire them if they have enough trucks for one to sit around a couple weeks. Perhaps they don't have one. These guys clearly aren't a good fit for you so imo once you get the truck back to the terminal it would be best to just move on. Pics of everything about the truck you're moving out of with some that show some defining feature of that terminal visible.
>>
>>29069818
I have no money to do so. I'm homeless and broke because I had to sit for a week waiting on repairs.

>>
>>29069819
OK, you do you but I give it a 90 percent chance you're fired the instant the TM sees you. And no, none of what's just happened will be the official reason. They've been down this road a thousand times before so you're not beating the house so to speak.

IMO you handled the whole thing wrong. You should have been ready to go once the truck was ready especially since you sat a week and that prescriptions errand could have been done. Groceries? Just get something for right now and then stop somewhere on the load. Red Tag? Per se, that means nothing. You needed to be specific about what you found wrong on a pre-trip that was non-DOT and made the trailer unsafe and then made arrangements to get it fixed one way or another. As it is, it's clear you were stalling and might have cost them at least one load possibly multiple depending on what the load plans were.
>>
>>29069824
What do you mean?
>>29069830
"Should have been" project onto someone else. A red tag is a red tag, is a red tag. Just because it can be run doesn't mean it should and if it was a significant enough defect for the trailer to get one, it is not unreasonable to just hook up to a different trailer given that there is a multitude of them in the yard. I also had given the DM the info, and the ball was in their court as far as emailing fedex, and they dropped the ball on that. I couldn't have taken it if I decided to anyways. The medication I take is regulated to where I cannot pick it up outside of a very specific window. There is no way around it.
>>
>>29069830
Also there is no legal requirement to explain the defect on the red tag to the DM. Even if it were something minor that could be run, I can still refuse it because l I am protected under FMCSA 392.3.
>>
>>29069834
>A red tag is a red tag, is a red tag
You're being willfully obtuse. A red tag is not a DOT failure in itself. YOU needed to pre-trip it and find out what was wrong with it and then tell your DM, preferably with pics/video, about a failure on the trailer that made it illegal to operate. Oh and BTW, the drivers in the company I'm with now sometime use red tags to mark trailers as "theirs" for a variety of reasons. Perhaps the same occurs there. As for the other trailers, you don't know why they're there but you do know they wanted you with that one so you should have taken it or had a DOT reason why it couldn't go right then.

I wouldn't necessarily say to avoid it, because everyone's experience is different, but it's a well known company that provides opportunities to people who wouldn't have one otherwise due to a variety of factors.

The (very) low pay is the main reason to quit Stevens. Which in my view is a pretty big one.
>>
>>29069886
the guaranteed 1k weekly is bullshit by the looks of it but on poor weeks im making +$700 which is p good for my single ass, coming from lube/auto repair jobs when i was making like $350 a week sweating and working my ass off. now i sit in a AC'd airride cab listening to boomer CLASSICS with noise canceling headphones. for a first cdl job to get experience its pretty ok imo

>>29069896
Stevens has always been a sort of "welfare to work" program for the under/unemployed. I found that out by talking to a few lifers at truck stops. I just wish I knew that beforehand. It's on me for not doing my homework.

When my "agreement" is up, I'm gone like the wind. I've had side gigs that paid more ten plus years ago, than what I get from Stevens in 2026, living and working in a truck 7 days a week for months on end.

So one should be okay with being willfully ignorant and committing safety violations in a line of work where one "minor safety issue" can result in killing cars full of people. You are why prisons exist.
>>
>>29070694
>At one point they even blatantly said "Yes" when I asked if they wanted me to run illegally.
As a non-trucker, wdym? They wanted you to run a shift over the legal time? Boo fuckin' hoo.
I got fired for having type-1 diabetes (the one that makes you skinny, not the one from being fat) and having low blood sugar once - I worked in a cubicle farm but it was in a car factory so they claimed it was too dangerous when it isn't. Shit happens, after federally suing the company through the EEOC I got a whopping $2,000 but spent about that much in the process.

Trailer with tires that are ready to blow. Malfunctioning trailer doors where the cargo isn't secure, steer tires that are bulging, drive tires that have cuts in the sidewall, trailers with brakes that don't work. I can keep going for a while. Not even the bare minimum was being met. Paperwork that is expired, not giving updated paperwork when asked, purposefully setting drivers up to get tickets and fines so they can be kept as slaves because no one will hire them with a ticket in the first year except that company.

Ok, yeah, that's serious stuff.
I was once lead warehouse receiver and it was always hilarious talking with the truckers about dumb shit that goes on. I'm sure I pissed them off doing validation checks wasting their time, but it was my job.
>>
>>29070731
Which is why I refused to drive the red tagged trailer, because I found that stuff on trailers that never even got a red tag. >>29070685
This guy is a completeky retard bro fag for even considering to overlook those issues, and just "run it driver" because it not only could kill him, but tons of other people aswell. He is on the same level as the jeets and flip flop drivers that he gaslights himself into believe he's better than. Heck, he's even worse because at least they do pre trips sometimes.
>>
Railyards are true hell.
>>
This place has turned into reddit and you fags have soft hands. Obviously don't do shit that's retarded, but being willing to be stupid the smartest way possible will get you far in this industry. I oscillate between that and being a safety nazi over shit that actually matters that can kill people. That you can't tell the difference between the two or assume it's a binary system in which a person is either all good or all bad is a reflection of your own stupidity and ego.

When I say "just run it pussy" I mean shit like the trailer passes a pretrip but the inspection sticker is two months out of date so you run it at night, not bulging steer tires and rabid niggers in the cab. Ultimately though it's my own fault for casting pearls before swine and most of you won't be in this industry longer than a few more months anyways, so fuck it. Good luck in the winter retards.

Shabbos Transport sent me to lovely New Jersey today where, I was the only full sized semi driving around within a ten mile radius, on streets made for box trucks, and not one English speaking person anywhere to be found, including at the receiver.

I got through it, because I'm good, but fuck me I really have to get a better fucking job than this trash bottom feeder "training company".
>>
For some reason I thought white people lived in New Jersey. Or at least Italians. I get there and it's all 4 foot 9 miscellaneous brown people. Not seeing another white person in New Jersey is one of those things where you really notice that we're beyond cooked.

>>
>>29075273
Those NJ roads were built for old-timey trucks, not the semis of today. It also historically had freight trains running directly through certain towns. All but a handful of rail died when they started building modern Interstates on and around those old freight lines.

Not all of us. I won't do shit that will legitimately risk lives but I'll get a little sketchy with it to make the weenie wiggle. Honestly I'm happy to see that a lot of people won't put up with it because they shouldn't have to, even if those same people will shitbag it through a construction zone doing 5-10 over as if that's not as dangerous as pulling a trailer with a bald tire or running on a drive that's missing a chunk of tread.
>>

Legitimately skill issue. Cuckneckticutt is worse. Taxachusetts is worse. The five burroughs in NYC are worse. Fucking buffalel is worse. NJ is an easy day more often than not and you're also a fucking retard if you're not running that part of the country overnight. I've done 500+ mile days running NY/NJ/PA because I started at 2200. That's much of the industry now unfortunately. Starter mega business model is churn and burn. You're an expendable commodity. Best move is to get out ASAP, so it was probably a blessing in disguise.

Don't listen to the people who say you can't find a job unless you have ten years experience and all that BS. I know people who found jobs with zero experience, a few months experience, etc after leaving starter megas. There are jobs everywhere.

Already have several job offers. Should be back on the road in a week or two depending on how long it'll take to get to orientation. Better pay, better equipment, actual time off instead of being out the entire time. Organized my evidence, made a report, and even been offering to send it to companies that have asked why I was fired.
>>
>>29076982
>"Fuck off, bitch, your approval means nothing to me you piece of shit nigger."

Scratch that, one job offer. The draconian network of soul sucking demons known as swift said no, despite saying yes not 24 hours ago.
>be me
>clean mvr
>clean criminal background check
>unrestricted license with every endorsement
>twic card
>can read cat in the hat without needing to take off a second shoe
"Sorry, your work history has too long of a gap in it."
So, the recent job I had where I had the nuts to say no to driving equipment that would have cost the insurance company money, isn't a factor for you? Don't you jews like money? Literally offered to send them the chat logs I have. I am putting it on a fucking platter, and they're being picky over somwthing that is now null and void due to recent work history, but they'll hire an Indian that can't speak or read English to drive on public roads and kill people. How does that work? Will someone who knows more about being a psychopath explain this to me please?
>>
>>29077084
Because they hire in bulk companies like swift can afford to be picky for some guys. Head for a smaller fleet if you can like PAM or PTL.
>>
>>29077098
Got an offer from Pride, waiting on my mvr. I'll apply to PTL too. C R England offered me several dedicated accounts, same with Covenant.
>>
>>29077139
Pride a shit. Sketchy guys who try to push newbies into leaseops or training and I hear they dont comp stuff like straps and bars. Also enjoy being capped at 62mph even on cruise.
>>
>>29077142
I survived Western Express without being pushed into training. Doesn't get worse than that company. It's only up from here.
>>
Looking like it's a choice between a Dollar Tree account with CRST, AB account with C R England, some other account with Covenant, or Pride Transport. I know the Dollar Tree accounts eat CDLs for breakfast so I am not exactly wanting to do it, though I don't mind touch freight. Of all of these, which one would be best for someone who is still relatively new at only 4.5 months? Not trying to overwhelm myself because I'm still learning.
>>
>>29077363
What home time are you looking for? My own job (JB Hunt local intermodal) has a 3 month requirement and pays quite well, and is home daily.
>>
>>29077369
By well btw I mean 1200-1400 net a week, depending on miles and activity with the 10cpm bonus for weekend work.
>>
>>29077369
I'm not picky on it. I don't have a preference. I was out for 4.5 months straight with Western so anything is good to me. Does J B Hunt do otr? I'm currently homeless so I'd need to be able to live in the truck.
>>
>>29077431
Yeah they do OTR. Not paid as well as local I'm sure and don't know about your location specifically but you can check here https://drivers.jbhunt.com/available-jobs
>>
>>29077084
You're overqualified and they know you'll just leave in a year or less when you get tired of dealing with the bullshit and start getting offers to make real money. Meanwhile Saar'maam will never bitch and will work there for 30 years for bottom dollar.

Swift is for fatties and retards that think a 2700 mile week is a big deal and won't drive more than 9 hours a day but still want to take a 34. You dodged a bullet. Honestly you should stop looking for starter companies unless you don't have a year or 100k loaded miles yet and even a lot of the "no noobs" outfits will still take a chance on you with six months or 50k loaded miles if everything else about you is pristine.
>>
>>29077453
I only have 4.5 months and 20,000 miles. Illegally terminated from Western Express due to refusing to pull a red tagged trailer, and then refused to drive until I could pick up my doctor prescribed medication, which if they actually read my DOT Med Card when they scanned it in page by page, they'd see it's nothing but a boon because I legally get to take meth. I would like to see English proficiency tests being enforced for everyone, not just drivers, because the pure ignorance and stupidity I have had to deal with just to get a job and go to work is insane. I want to work, I enjoy working, fuck, I'd work for a week free if need be to have a paying job at the end of it just to prove I'm not a retard. I am doing everything I am supposed to, and still get fucked by saar ma'am that can't even read the gauges let alone understand what they do and why they are there. Fuck, I could probably take the damn engine apart and put it back together if I had the tools.
>>
>>29077467
I have been fucked over because idiots make assumptions about things they don't even know about, and assume are true when if they actually fucking used their eyes, and didn't get upset would find out that they are just burning money because they can't help themselves from eating pissed on breadcrumbs that they themselves laid out and don't even have the awareness to realize that they did it in the first place.
>>
>>29077467
Western is widely known as being the shittiest mega in the game. They actively recruit from prisons. Whoever told you to go work there hates your guts. Shotgun applications to the other starter companies and see what lands then get your year and move on to somewhere better. You can pull six figures gross or net just doing basic bitch dryvan and the occasional reefer load after you get your year done but for literally everybody their first year trucking is just pure distilled suffering and you have to just thug that shit out and learn how you get fucked into being someone's bitch to make sure it never happens again.

Don't hit shit, don't get fat, bitch as little as possible and assume everyone is retarded and find a way to not let it make you angry. Other than that just keep it between the lines. And for the love of fuck please don't be the guy leaving the shipper with your tandems slid all the way back.
>>
>>29077501
No one else would hire me because of spotty work history which I had no control over because of health issues caused by previous health issues that were out of my control. I was dealt a shit hand in life, and have been paying the price for beating death several times without my consent. Doctors should be put in prison for doing what they did to me, and it is still in a legal gray area even decades later. Performing life saving procedures without asking whether they should.
>>
>>29077516
PAM was good to me even after having gaps in my work history. They're pretty chill. Money sucks until you get a year and start being a trainer but they have good equipment and if you're literally just not retarded you'll be a star over there.
>>
>>29077775
They're not hiring out of my area, abd i don't want to transfer my license because the state I'm in garauntees hourly pay of at least minimum wage for all time spent on duty not driving. I'm not in a financial position to let go of that safety net and risk being completely fucked by corporate greed.
>>
>>29077964
I'm literally homeless with just what I can carry. Western left me stranded with nothing because I refused to break the law for them and risk the one thing I have that can get me out of the shitty position by abusive demonic soulless parents put me in. Nothing is worth risking that.

I don't mind running shitty loads, or weird hours, or driving in the rain or shitty conditions. I want to work. No matter what the old boomers say, or all the people that have shit on me and said I'm "soft" or "weak" or "lazy" or whatever the fuck. I just won't risk my license hauling illegal equipment. I'll do the shit work, just meet the bare minimum basic standards to have the vehicle on the road and not be a ticking time bomb because no matter what I do it's my fault if I drive faulty equipment and it ends up killing other people or myself. At least with the basics covered I have a general idea of what to expect as far as shit going wrong. If that's too much to ask for, the bare minimum, then that company shouldn't be in business. I guess wanting the bare minimum standards that is literally written into law with blood is too much to ask for these days. Even though the boomers gave that blood for it to happen. "Fuck you I got mine" needs to die out, and soon.
>>
>>29078725
That's fair, and I've seen plenty of western trucks that were in dogshit condition. And the company I'm at currently will fucking terminate you if you haul a trailer or drive the truck when it's damaged or wouldn't pass an inspection. But at the starters you have to pick your battles. I wouldn't cry about a missing mudflap I'd just run at night or replace it myself with a strategically acquired replacement. If it's got a bald tire or won't hold air every time you stop until you've rolled a quarter mile to reseat the bead then yeah fuck them shits getting fixed.

Things do eventually get better but your first year you just have to thug it out. I ran mountains in PA with no chains in chainup blizzard conditions my first year, ran overweight a bunch of times. It was stupid but I didn't want to literally starve. That's trucking. Same as having a gun in the bunk even if you get fired if you get caught doing it because bears and ceiling bird enthusiasts could give a fuck about corporate policy.

I'm starting orientation with a new company next week, big step up from Westwrn Express. Any advice as far as how I can smooth out the bad habits that were forced upon me by Western? I do my pre trips/post trips, check the trailer brakes, all the wiring and hoses in and under the truck/trailer, check all the caps, actually use a tire pressure gauge on the steers everyday, basically what I'm supposed to. I'm just used to working and fearing I'm going to get fired or that they're purposely wanting me to fail, and idk whether that's necessarily the case with the company I'm going to. Very big culture change from what I've been riled to believe and what I've grown accustomed to. I really don't want to fuck this up, it's my first real job. They're paying me more just for a single week of training that I requested before testing into my own truck than I've ever made in a paycheck. For me it's like a gift from the gods that have been what seems like stacking everything against me my entire life.
>>

>I really don't want to fuck this up, it's my first real job.
you're going to fuck up at some point, just make sure that the fuck up isn't something that can go on your record, and learn from it

>t. almost 6 months of driving and went into this field with your similar mindset and still getting spooked by shit every week
>>
I check tires and fluids every day and do walkarounds to check lines and the fifth wheel/jaws and make sure the trailer isn't fucked several times a day but if we're talking getting on the skateboard and looking at the bottom of the truck like I'm a donut muncher trying to hit quota that's a once a week thing. Usually on my 34. Judging by the number of people that just pull the knobs and close the curtains I would agree that most do a slapdash job pretripping if they do it at all.
