A lot of lap times aren't set by the manufacturer. Anyone with a car and a stopwatch can give it a shot. And they have. They're just not that good. If a McLaren was capable of setting a sub 7 lap, why wouldn't someone do it? Why would they do a 7:08 and go "nah that's fine I don't feel like trying again"
