>>29032099For what it's worth, In my 5 years of ownership there's only ever been one set of speed bumps I've come across that would just *barely* touch the lowest part of my exhaust if I drove over them too quickly, but they were exceptionally aggressive non-standard bumps put in by the owner of the property; I've otherwise found the remaining 99.9% of speed bumps to be a non-issue with my setup, even when tanking over them at speed, though it is about the limit for what you'd want on a street-able car. If in the future you ever feel the urge to improve the look by lowering the car slightly, don't be afraid to drop it down by 30 or so mm.

Hey guys. Check your amp fuse.I was having some funky electrical issues, pulled over to check the battery terminals, they weren't loose. I jiggled the amp cable and shit starter to spark and smoke immediately. I yanked at the positive terminal and tried to remove it, but it was on tight. Thankfully the previous owner who installed the amp also soldered the shitty fuse holder which had its cover come off, and short against the chassis. The solder melted off and I was able to disconnect the cable from the positive terminal.No damage, I crimped on a new cable and wrapped the fuse block with electric tape.Heeve my warning

Hello I have a question.I got an ND a couple of weeks ago. It is my first manual car and I think I am doing pretty well considering how hilly it is where I live. However, my starts are still slow and my 1-2 shifts are still (usually) a bit jerky. Do you think I should rev more before I hit half clutch OR should I hit half clutch and then rev more while I am letting out? I'm having a hard time grasping this, I usually rev to ~1200 before half clutch then add throttle after I hear the revs drop but it takes me a wittle bit to get moving and I get honked at sometimes :(Any tips on smoother 1-2 shifts?Thanks :)

Can someone sell me on MX5s?My cousin had one about a year ago which he absolutely loved but had to sell due to an engine failure costing more than what it was worth. I was half tempted to buy it at the time but my aunt intervened and flat out said no because she didn't want a family member to take on the hassle of having to salvage it. Fast forward to present day and I want to save up for a nice car but stuck at what to save for. I would really like an FD RX7 as I think they look and sound sexy, and longterm I am not too concerned about maintance as I can always have a pot of cash for the eventual engine rebuild when it comes to it. However everywhere I go people seem to have MX5s and people seem to really like them, which takes me back to when my cousin had his. They're the fraction of the cost of an RX but they don't have the perfomance at least on paper or... the looks. I get that's part of the charm that they're cute but I am a cynical bastard and not twinky enough to drive one without a tinted window hardtop. However if I wanted to uglify an MX5 it would still be half the cost of an RX7 so that can be solved too.

I bought a brand new Miata in 2024. It was a blast at first, but now i'm at the point where i'm on the verge of selling it. I like to go on roadtrips and it's so fucking limiting. I can't take it anymore. I can barely take anything with me. Even worse, I can barely bring back gifts without having to pay to ship anything large back. On top of all of this i've now got second human bean in my life which means even less space for storage AND when we go on trips they also have bags of their own. I've had to get a hitch installed on it even just to make it viable awhile back which was another large expense for what should have been a fun car. Simple to put I will never buy another Miata in my life. Sure it's a great car if all you do is stay within 50 mi of your house, but god forbid you actually do any real driving with it. Also telling me to do laundry every other day is miserable on trips where you're trying to enjoy life and have fun. I fully regret not getting even the GR86 which had way more space.

Ball joints will inevitably wear out over time, the boot simply prolongs it's life by stopping anything abrasive from getting in. Easiest way to test them is to get a set of tongue-and-groove pliers to pinch the top and bottom of the the ball joint, and squeeze it together multiple times to check for any play. Flyin' Miata has a very detailed video on this topic.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4fJgks7N7Ww Just fyi, lower ball joints simply bolt in place, but upper ball joints are *technically* not replaceable and require the whole arm to be replaced; but there are aftermarket options for replacing just the ball joint if you have a press, however.

My wilwood calipers are giving me some real griefThose little wear plate shim things that protect the caliper itself from the ends of the pad base keep like half dislodging and scraping on the rotor. Makes this horrible sound but only occasionally. My pads are damn near brand new, I pulled wheels off to check. People probably think there's no pad material left when they hear that squeak though which bothers me. I might just run without those wear plates next time I change my rotors.

When I got the callipers initially I used 6 of the wear plates (doubled up on the bottom side) per caliper because that's what flyinmiata recommended and I didn't have this issue till I switched to just 4. But I also only have this problem on my front left, the right is totally fine. They brake fine but I'm thinking about what I'll replace them with down the line. I don't want brembos, and an AP racing setup would cost 4k and be wicked overkill
