There were no cars behind me and in front of me as far as I could see. At that point it did not matter which lane I was in, I just focused on fishing my camera out of my jacket without steering out of my lane lol. iirc it was Rimrock Overlook, in the Allegheny National Forest. Managed to take the trip the exact week that all the leaves changed. Literally perfect timing.
I have pics from the start where everything is green, and by the end its all red and yellow and orange.
My only regret is that I wasn't able to go too far off the beaten path.

I was worried the internet said "oh rimrock overlook has tons of steps" but the steps were super easy, jake rock was a slightly harder walk on like a semi-paved trail that was kinda fucked up

pine creek has the best views, not the allegheny national forest - though it is pretty and peaceful

try the ice break trail, there's very little parking just a little turnout with barely room for 2 cars on the dirt west rim road (south of the barbour rock overlook, easier to access from the north) but its a short hike on a little used trail - .7 mi each way to a 180 view that's better than most

its old growth forest but the trail is in pretty bad shape its blazed but not well trodden and if you go past the short loop the longer loop is very hard to follow and I felt like I was gonna die trying to do the whole thing + it was late but the surfacing was just awful cuz there was so much deadfall and it was just an obstacle course

do check out hearts content though if you havent thats much less zany and nicer trees too, tionesta is almost all hemlock which is interesting the interpretative sign suggests the whole thing would have been like that in the anf, hemlock predominant with beech and old cold weather deciduous trees as the understory, its kinda ugly lol

I am enjoying the scenic landscapes in here, not replying to all of them, but they're nice.
I rarely go more than a couple hours out of town. I'll sometimes pick a state park and drive the fun roads there and back.
Picrel is one of my favorites. You go down a big hill, take a bridge overlooking a dam, then there are a bunch of banked corners for miles. Nice nature trails through there too.
