Example, I'm an analyst office drone. Everyone on my floor golfs because CFO and CEO golf, they probably meet other CEO's and CFO's golfing and so does all the management. For that anon it might be the gun range, bowling alley, fishing club, what-have-you. The point is to get your foot in the door by knowing somebody. I'd literally just google search/ai something like "why does every actuary do X hobby" or something, then join the biggest club or whatever in your area and don't make an ass of yourself.
