Any other /o/tards with back problems but still want to enjoy driving? Kicking some tires on options: nd miata, brz, 2015+ mustang, nissan z, type r / type s. Something more towards having a reasonably compliant suspension but still sporty enough and manual.
Or maybe I'm retarded and should just quit this shit as a hobby.
It would be a weekend car...

get whatever you want and put it on bags

Your core is not strong enough to support your body so your spine is compressing

Rower here - my back is fucked beyond belief but I had a 370Z manual for several years. Currently have a vintage Mustang (also manual) and a motorcycle.

When bad back episodes occur they're nearly undriveable, but the rest of the time it's fine.

i've never considered this. It's compliant but still...fun to drive?

additionally, my shit is fused from L2 and up to most of my thoracic. old style surgery they did for scoliosis. such is life.
>>29036295
ok my shit is bad but not this bad + it's getting better at least.

>old style surgery they did for scoliosis.
Funny, I narrowly avoided that fate by having a scoliosis that went undetected for too long. My back's crooked as fuck. Can't really ride a bike but never had any problems with cars.

mcdonalds meme aside, unless you go with hydraulic (panamera hybrid,720s, old mercedes, vaporware chinese shit), porsche air ride (panamera, taycan...) and/or hydraulic/48v active swaybars - all coil sprung 'sportscars' ride largely the same

>put it on bags
agree - but leave it at reasonable ride height for full travel/complaince.
i've did a single autox run in a bagged vw mk5 golf and it was fun - no worse than stock anyways.

>Seats.
maybe more important than suspension for back problems. other than ingress/egress, seek out recaro optioned cars (beater suggestion: mk4/5 vwshit). a properly fitted racing bucket is even better - but worse egress. all the lateral support removes a lot of the smaller back muscle flex correcting for car movement.
while healing from a back injury, i could drive all day in a thickly padded recaro spg on a heavily sprung m3 - but driving a softer land cruiser hurt like shit.

it pains me to say this, but a macan or panamera w/ air suspension is more enjoyable than most of the cars on your list. can adjust height when doors open to aid getting into, 2017 panameras got a 3 chamber adjustment for rebound and compression (macan 2-chamber upgrade sometime later) with a more reliable 48v active rollbar.
i know its a retarded looking car, germanshit, and expensive - but its in depreciation freefall (many for $30k and falling).
i needed a dog car and test drove a few - multichamber air+active rollbars are the only real tech advancements in cars the past few decades.

I need to sit down in some recaros again. I had a car with them and loved how it just held me in place. i can't remember the lumbar being bad or good. is that part pretty supportive, generally? i'm sure on a car like a porsche or even bmw there would be some adjustability...

Mynwork truck is an Isuzu NPR. 8 hours a day. My back looks like a spanish question mark.

in one of the top gear America specials, they were at a trophy truck race and were concerned about the jumps when they would be driving.
it turned out, that all three adored them because they had such long and well dampened suspension that it was manageable even as old men.
so whatever ride you get, a very well tuned suspension should benefit you greatly.
