they dun goofed
at least it's on double wishies and the engine is what it should be, but the review said it has fake v8 noise that is annoying

What, were you expecting something good in current year + 12?

there's nothing fucking gayer than that.
>>
>>29037408
Some local guy spent like $45,000 on one and ran it at our autocross events.
It's fucking travesty.
The handling is trash
Acceleration is bad
The fake V8 noises it makes.
Looks like shit.

I'm pretty tolerant of all sorts of cars.
But that car is just an abomination
>>
The electric charger is actually good (you're like the motherfuckin' knightrider) but the MSRP they imagined for it is too high, so even though you can lease them for basically free you would still have to insure a nominally $75k brand new car
>>
they are putting a v8 in it next year so just wait i guess
in 10 year ppl with be glazing the 6-pack tho as like an american rb/2jz

Did they design it shit on purpose.
Or did they design an e-boat and then when the winds shifted frantically tried to salvage it
>>
>>29038121
I think to make something that can house a big heavy battery you have to compromise the design, and they didn't create a separate platform for evs and gas ones. I mean really there never should have been an EV at all there should be a hybrid and a gas only one. EVs are stupid. But the bigger issue is for so long Stellantis was using a shitty oudated platform that everyone hated - EMP2 and they finally replaced it, but with something barely better.
>>
>>29038109
To be fair the new base model I6's 4.6s 0-60 and 13.0 1/4 @ 106mph flat out embarrasses the old base gas engine and even beats the old R/T.

This is what happens when you allow a European to run an American car company, then fire said European in a rush after losing billions, then forcing the American company to panic release

https://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/a73274721/2026-dodge-charger-sixpack-rt-sedan-test/

All-wheel drive is standard—in the old Charger it was limited to the V-6 model—and our car's optional launch control-aided traction helped the 2026 R/T post a better 60-mph time than its forebear: 4.7 seconds, versus 5.1 seconds for the previous 5.7-liter V-8 Charger R/T. Filter out that off-the-line advantage, though, and the new car is no quicker on the move: 5.7 seconds from 5 to 60 mph, versus 5.6 for the old model. Similarly, the new car's 3.0-second 30-to-50-mph time and its 3.8-second 50-to-70-mph run are each 0.4 second behind the V-8 car's.
>>
>>29038160
It's also being compared to an R/T. Not a Scatpack/392. The R/T was never considered very impressive. It was just a minor step up from the V6. So using that as the comparison, the slow trim, is somewhat disingenuous.

The 392 is where it got serious and was legitimately fast.
>>
>>29038199
anon this is the lower hp v6 tho
they make a higher hp 500+ hp i6
this is the lower hp 420 variant
so the comparo makes 100% sense
they fucked up
god forbid fiat have to design an actual clean sheet dohc v8 or a sports sedan
>>
>>29038206
>god forbid fiat have to design an actual clean sheet dohc v8
They didn't even have to do that, all people wanted is a Hemi with revised lifters, fixed hemi tick and maybe aluminum block
>>
>>29038211
If they had revised the Hemi to fix the lifter tick issues, gone aluminum block, used both direct and indirect injection like the coyotes and bumped compression, you’d have a winner of an engine. But the real issue is the fact that the platform will forever water down whatever engine you drop in it because it’s so goddamn heavy.

I just don't get why they dicked with the Charger. Cops loved them. Drug dealers loved them. Boomers loved them. Rental car companies loved them. They basically shot themselves in the foot since rental companies wanted nothing to do with what they turned it into (backpedaling with the ICE + sedan models is a few years too late), cops didn't like it either and replaced their fleets with more Explorers/F150s/Tahoes since the ICE + sedan models also arrived too late and were also not really as friendly as a fleet vehicle anymore. Boomers and niggas alike both liked the old one for it's muscle car charms and V8 noise and torque - more than just speed alone - so despite the EV and I6 models being "faster" in some cases a lot of people already got turned off of it.
I've only seen two on the road since they were released, which is crazy considering how many new Chargers were being sold yearly previously.
>>
>Six cylinder Charger in 2019: $31,000
>Six cylinder Charger in 2026: $50,000
Think of all the sales Dodge missed out on from all the Privates who can no longer afford the monthly payments.
>>
>>29038396
The portuguese eurocuck ex-CEO of stellantis forced it. He said he "didn't know why Americans liked V8s" and forced the Challenger to be cancelled, the Hemi to be cancelled and the nu-charger to be EV only. They were selling 140k Charger/Challengers every year. After the switch to EV they sold 7,421 ev chargers in 2025.

He was fired. Hemi was brought back and the EVs are effectively cancelled.

>car based on dedicated new platform with newish repurposes ferrari engine
more expensive
shocking!

>>29038436
hemis shouldn't be brought back
they need to make a new v8 that isnt a ferrari and isn't pushrod but they are lazy - that's the biggest issue
>>
>>29038558
Pushrods are based, cuckboy.
>>
>>29038147
Again, this is just the base engine. Think of it compared to a V6 Charger/Challenger, the base EV supplements the R/T and the higher hp EV the Scat.

Keeping that in mind the new base car is almost 2 seconds faster to 60mph, 1.5s faster through the 1/4 with a 10mph advantage in trap speed and is over a second faster to 120mph than the V6 was to 110mph. This is a huge leap in performance for the base car. And makes the old one look embarrassingly slow.
>>
>>29038665
you are comparing apples to oranges
there is simply no base na 6 cyl engine anymore
and the turbo i6 is slightly slower than the v8 was when lag is accounted for
there's just no rental car engine anymore cuz its not intended for fleet sales
>>
so is the challenger just dead or what

Yeah it's practical. But the problem is that there are better EVs and there are better muscle cars. There is a reason why they only sold 7,300 EV Chargers in 2025.

How good does it need to be really? I don't take my cars to the track, and I don't care about maximizing muh range. Just want something that's not a bloated crossover but also has an actually useable trunk.
>>
>>29039270
>How good does it need to be really?
Technically, just good enough to get you a to b consistently, which practically any car qualifies for.

However, you're spending tens of thousands of dollars on this item. You should be wanting the best possible one that satisfies your purposes and preferences. So, respectfully, "how good does it need to be really" is a gay and retarded question.
>>
>>29039111
>donates his kids inheritance to a jeet using an AI render of alexis texas as a profile pic
Choked on my drink. Also checked.
>>
>>29039272
>good for a to b
>200 mile range (in perfect conditions, no AC, no heat, no speeding)
>>
>>29039301
When one says a to b they usually mean just commuting to work, friends houses, grocery store etc. 200 mile range is sufficient for that. Though not ideal if you have to publicly charge. If you have a house and charge overnight and don't plan on road trips with it, it can work fine.

That being said 200 mile range is shit and it should be better.
>>
>>29039320
realistically 40% of an EV’s range is unuseable unless you want to destroy your battery (must be kept between 20-80%), so you have a ~120 mile range. Then if you drive normally and use the AC or heat or have hills it’s even worse. Sure, that technically may still get you to work and back (assuming no traffic, lol), but good luck doing anything else like picking up food on the way back or going shopping after work.
The other problem is that the insane battery costs mean they have to cut costs everywhere else to be somewhat competitive after subsidies (EV charger is now $72.5k? lmao…) Meanwhile a nice, well-built car without these compromises can be had for half as much.
If you have a home charger (more cost) then it’s not as inconvenient, but if you, like most people, live in a pod then an EV means you’re spending a substantially longer amount of time filling up than an ICE vehicle.
Instead of living in denial, EV fans need to admit to these limitations and figure out something that works better than batteries or just relegate EVs to the niche they’re suited for (fags & indians).
>>
>>29039353
I personally don't want an EV. My buddy is about to buy a Ford Lightning after his Hyundai Ioniq 5 battery took a shit and the dealer replaced it with a refurbished battery. He's in love with EVs because of muh efficiency autism.

I on the other hand have a manual Challenger SRT 392 because I don't give a fuck.
>>
>>29039353
there's a lot of indians tho
im gay and I hate evs...
>>
>>29038667
I'm simply pointing out the reality of the current model line. The article you cited even called it the base model.
>>29038856
The whole model range got more expensive, you can't say it's not the base model because you can't get a cheaper or less powerful one. I mean you can, say it. But you look like a coping retard performing mental gymnastics.
>>
>>29039819
>The whole model range got more expensive
it went from being a frankenmonster of a shitty 90s fwd platform mixed with early 2000s mercedes suspension and steering parts to a dedicated new large car platform + a much nicer newer engine
>>
>>29039819
I didn't say it wasn't the base model, I'm saying that it's stupid to compare a 70k+ car to a 35 - 40k one. It's like comparing a base 911 to a base Camry ie fucking stupid
>>
>>29039824
>“We had access to a platform that was somewhat [like] the E-Class Mercedes,” says Tim Kuniskis, head of passenger cars for FCA’s North American division.
>>29039827
I'm not saying Dodge was smart to turn their base model car from a 28k car to a 51k car. But it's also not 2015 anymore so comparing the cost when new is also retarded unless you also consider inflation and that a base '15 is 40k in modern dollars and the '17 AWD GT would be 45k. So for only 5k more you start with AWD and get a car that absolutely shits all over the old base model.
>>
>>29038860
the pentastar is plenty tunable its just not a vq
>>
>>29039886
Watch the Rob Dahm video on it to see what I mean
>>
>>29039852
As I recall it was genuinely a frankenmonster with the steering rack from the older E class, and suspension bits from the newer (early 2000s) E and S class as well somehow all bonded to an LX Chrysler frame. Obviously building a new platform in 2024 is gonna cost more but the real issue is the new platform isn't much better and the packaging efficiency and interior space are horrid and even more compromised because they are building an EV version off the same thing.

>Just want something that's not a bloated crossover
It's bigger than most crossovers.
>>
>>29040009
nobody bothered trying to tune the pstar because the press did everything possible to bury it and the cars equipped with it and chrysler post bankruptcy simply couldn't support two architectures at once with performance parts.
>>
>>29038252
Going aluminum would shave off like 100lbs off the nose which would be more than enough imo. That's before we go aftermarket and put on a carbon fiber hood or lightweight front wheels. The NA Hemis only 'slightly' overweight for the most part, and the iron block is 90% of the reason.
>>
>>29041008
Nobody bothered tuning the rentalshart because it has low overhead due to the shitty single exhaust port cylinder heads and open deck block. You can't build them NA because nobody makes cams for them and even if they did you can't even put long tubes on it to take advantage of them. Then if you go turbo you can only go so big before the single exhaust ports become a restriction. It's the same reason Ford Racing makes 4 port EcoBoost heads and RTMG makes them for the EA888. The only option to try to make power with them is a centrifugal supercharger kit and even then you end up with less than 500whp for the cost and effort. They're junk.
>>
>>29039111
>BRA BA BA BA BA IT NEEDS A RELIABLE FAHVE SEVEN HEMI
Hey, the sixpack sales numbers said it, not me.
>>
>>29041032
the pentastar is a quad cam engine it doesn't have "single exhaust ports" it has integral headers which have far more volume and flow better than tubes, the downpipe elbow and cats are the restriction.
the lack of performance parts for the pentastar from the factory is the reason for the lack of performance parts in the aftermarket.
maserati 3.0TT heads with tubular headers fit on a Pentastar block how come nowbody is fucking with this?

>>
>>29041032
