I'm tryna roller paint my Volkswagen Transporter (Eurovan). Doing it outdoors, can't afford a roof over it.And goddamn is this hard.There's definitely a learning curve to mastering the perfect texture. If there's too much paint or you roll it for too long, it will look like the skin texture of a fat girl's ass. You know, that cellulite shit?So I'm only doing layers so thin that they completely rub off when sand paper as much as looks at it.I literally see primer glowing through the paint.And there are always visible roller marksBut the worst of all: green aphids. Dunno what the fuck it is about this paint but every aphid in 100 mile radius tractor beams to my car and gets stuck in the fresh paint.This shit's a nightmare.Picrel, someone who did it right. Probably inside a garage.

It might takes month to dry and I'm just applying more and more every day lol

>>29039056Hey man, I would recommend you go with hammerite, it’s enamel and enamel paints are way easier to work with and brush on, once they harden you can clear coat them if you wish you just have to wait two months to be safe. Hammerite makes paints that don’t have the broken texture as well. I like the silver one and coat everything with it

Once hammerite is dry you can try wet sanding it to get rid of any orange peel or bumps but I’d leave it as is.

Do you have a compressor? Do you want a textured finish or do you want smooth? At this point I'd say step back, let shit dry for a week, then hit it all with a da sander to scratch it up and smooth it down or scuff the shit out of it with some scotchbrite and then try again or say fuck it and spray on some raptor liner for ultimate textured coverage.

>>29040315>>29040318I’m sorry to hear about the strings from the roller, try another place or a test surface with a very wide brush as that will eliminate most brush marks, in cases where I didn’t use a spray can I found brushing on paint was superior as it gave me more control and coverage than a roller. In any case give up the roller. Stop using it. Grab a wide ass brush (8-10cm) and first do the perimeter of the metal and then long horizontal lines from top down of the body panel left to right as you go down. If you get runs, you can brush it out, just be careful not to press too hard to not leave more marks in tacky paint. If you can’t brush it on, buy some spray cans but even I dont like using rollers
OP once again. My latest attempt.Hammerite + roller. Applied a bit more paint this time.You have to roll every area precisely the same number of times or else there will be a visible difference in the texture.Oh and the black spots are flies. Cant do anything about em anymore.

>>29040386Congrats on getting the interior to a finish you’re happy with >>29040390For the hood in general to determine if enamel is hard enough to scuff and repaint you dig your nail into it and if it doesn’t leave a mark you can start roughing it up, it depends on the weather as in when it’s sunny and hot it goes harder quicker. Do this of course in a corner or some place less visible. As long as it’s the same brand and formula it should cause problems. In my experience it depends on the weather, hammerite left in the boiling hot sun on a dry day could be sanded and repainted after a day or two, but check with your fingernail. If you put on a thick coat or mixed it with other paint it might take a week. Check with your nail to know if it’s safe to work on. You can work on another body panel while you wait for the hood to dry
