i wanna buy a car for my daily commute to work/uni. i never had experience with volvo before but drove couple toyotas and mazdas. i want something with 200+ hp to have some fun driving but i dont have friends or someone i know who drive volvo. is it good choice or should i look at something different?
>>29038101If you're looking for a daily commute, maybe the diesel version is better as it can rack up insane mileage. But I take you live in US so you probably don't have that.
>>29038103i live in canada so its cheaper to drive gas
>>29038101Should be a solid car. There are a few quirks because it's swedish. Not sure about this specific year or model, but I'm sure there will be a couple things to look out for depending on the mileage. They used an AC compressor clutch that would fall out of tolerance and need re-shimmed at some point, for example. I don't know if they still had them at this point, but if it's a 5 cylinder it probably does.
>>29038101Get a c30 instead. They're cooler
>>29038175Nah they're super gay.
>>29038175If you want people to constantly stop and tell you they've never seen a Volvo like that before then this is the only option
>>29038181Yeah no shit it's a Volvo lol
>>29038101I remember seeing lots of them on the used market with burnt out Haldex units. I don't know if it's because it's particularly weak, or it's retards running them with mismatched tires, or both, but "AWD doesn't work" was pattern I noticed in ads.
>>29038187Quick google says its due to clogged filters overworking the pump, potentially blowing fuses and burning them out.
op is here. so i read a decent amount of articles and it appears to be a solid car. for context i have a 1991 miata which is my project car and i rebuilt its engine and transmission with my younger brother so i think it wont be much of a problem to keep s60 in good shape. i looked into c30 but i cant find any good options in my region. thanks everyone
>>29038105>what are winter tires
>>29038101Buy something else. https://www.carcomplaints.com/Volvo/S60/2013/
>>29038182doesn't happen in europe.t.c30driver
>>29038761They sold 10x more of them in Europe vs North America.OP is in CanadaEurope also got a lot more trims with different engines, NA only got the T5
>>29038101I have that car, different engine. From the perspective of maintenance, cabin air filter is a pain but doable if you're flexible. Good luck if you ever need to change the blower though.Vacuum pump has bad seals and oil will start to leak eventually, but that's not a difficult fix. Definitely check the ATF because these Volvos are sold with "lifetime" fluid and dealerships won't touch the gearbox until it's basically dead already.
