Using slaves for the manufacturing part you can undercut the market on labour costs and maaaybe be competitive, provided the product is also good in addition to being cheaper. I don’t see how else we do it. You’d still need to reimburse the actual smart people for their work so you’d have to subsidize the fledgling industry a bit for awhile with government grants. Hopefully after long enough you could ditch most of the slaves through automation or whatever but you really need to lean on them in the beginning to get a competitive advantage. Not sure how you would go with making sure the slaves did a good job of course. The quality control division would have to be on their A game. Also maybe the riot control division and the corporate brainwashing and propaganda division would have to work pretty hard too to keep the underlings in line. That might lead to some cost blow outs. We’d obviously need to import the slaves because the locals won’t do it, unless we disappear them or take them from orphanages and correctional centres.
