I'm shopping for a Maverick and I'm torn.
I really want the hybrid powertrain and I also really want the towing package. But I also really want a used ~MY24 because the of the interior. Normally I'm not one to make a big deal about a touchscreen, I used to have a Tesla so I'm used to them, but the setup in the Maverick is pretty bad. It's not that the hvac and media are on the screen but that they're just done badly.
I don't know if I should give up on the screen and get a MY25 hybrid with towing or give up on the hybrid and get the turbo instead. I'm not getting a hybrid without towing because at that point I would rather get a sedan. I only need light truck work but I still do need light truck work to get done.

Have you considered the fact that it's a weak piece of shit and you'd be better off with a Subaru wagon and a $500 trailer?
>>
Kia Sportage is way nicer if you can stand not having le macho truck to compensate for your penis size.
Do you need to tow more than 2500 lbs?
Also, I never touch the touchscreen really except like to hit cancel route I just enter stuff through voice control but they do charge you 20 bucks a month to do that.
>I really want the hybrid powertrain
Kia has a hybrid but honestly the NA is better and will last longer

The little 2.0T has some torque for a no-truck. It’s not a bad shitbox so far, I enjoy being able to park in normal sized parking spots and I can hang 8ft lumber out of the bed,

The Rangers are sweet but I would rather put the money towards my mortgage than a trugg payment.

Get a used 2025 awd hybrid with 4k tow. They fixed a ton of shit with it over the pre face-lift and most notably the transmission is stronger now too. The 2.0l is alright but I dont see the reason to get it over the hybrid. The drivetrain in the hybrid is smoother, less complicated, more efficient and arguably will last longer. Its a beefed up version of the transmissions being used in the fusion hybrids as taxies in NYC going on 300,000 miles etc.

That's the entire point of the maverick. Take this photo for example. I had to bring my old toilet to the dump. You think i want shit water sloshing around the trunk of my crossover? I just got home and pressure washed the bed out.

It does truck things and yet it still gets 6l/100km, and still fits in regular parking spaces, and still drives like a regular vehicle. If i wanted a "real" truck i would have bought a "real" truck. As a bonus the bed like 4 feet off the ground so not only can you easily reach in from the sides but its extremely easy to load things into and out of it. Trucks have lost the entire point of what it functionally means to be a utility vehicle for the sake of marketing numbers.

I've been living in my house for almost 2 years now and between all the renovation projects and my wifes gardening projects we've literally never once needed a bigger truck because most companies charge a much smaller fee for delivery than I would be paying in extra gas dailying a full size or mid size truck.

I own a '23 hybrid. I never tow so I didn't make it a point to get one with a tow package. However after some research it has a bigger radiator, a transmission oil cooler, and brake controller for the 7 pin. That's it. If you're towing you want way more truck than you need because it's just better. If your towing a light duty trailer and know for certain you're regularly moving 3800 pounds, get a bigger not capable truck. The Maverick can do it, it's just not smart.
The bed capacity doesn't change even with the towing package, so don't hang your requirements on that. Are you just wanting it for that 1 single time you think you might tow something small or do you actually tow regularly?

The hybrid is bullet proof and so is the ecvt transmission. They made slight changes after the '25 model year, but there simply aren't problems with the hybrid drivetrain prior to that. It's a long proven drivetrain that was developed with Toyota and has been around for decades in NYC taxis. Post 25 they also put the HVAC into the touch screen and made the screen slightly wider instead of that stupid cubby hole.

I read recently the 2.0l Ecoboost isn't great and the transmission paired with it is fragile. I like my hybrid because it gets 35mpg highway and 45 in city.

Like it or not the maverick is more capable than your favorite weeaboo crossover.
>bbbut u don't NEED to tow up to 4000lbs!
Some people do. Some people need just a little more utility than what can be provided by a sedan or crossover but don't need a full blown half ton

Bunch of liberal PUSSIES this fucking thread.

When you’re a man, you don’t feel a need to daily a lifted F-250 with LEDs in the wheel wells. Ask your sister how much of a man I am, and it has nothing to do with the minitruck.

Also I’ve driven plenty of large diesel truggs, I don’t want to DD one.

To tow what, your 1979 Jetski?
A Dodge K-car could tow that shit.
Cut the bullshit, omit the "towing package" that you don't truly need.

Now that is interesting.
Talk about taking a beating.
Have a source bro?

says something about how fragile and insecure masculinity is in America that men will dream of and idolize a horribly built compact crossover (that they would deride as such) once given a faux pickup shape and a towing package because they are so desperate to project an image of authentic machismo
>>
>>29040404
It's not possible someone just wants a crossover but with a bed? If someone was so concerned about appearing "masculine" via their car then why wouldn't they just get a used half ton?
>>
>>29039706
Just get an F150.

I have a 2025 XL hybrid AWD 4k tow Maverick, and also a 2019 Ranger

I'm not sure what you mean by the hvac is done bad in the screen... You press plus or minus to set a temp and leave it. The controls are always on the screen. When I'm turning on heat or AC the only button I'm usually hitting is the fan speed controls... Setting 22'c AC will automatically come on when it's hotter than that, and when it's colder out like 15'c it will not turn on the AC and will heat instead, so I only use the fan speed to decide how much hot/cold I want.

I almost never touch those buttons and cannot imagine choosing an entirely different drivetrain because of it. 2025+ hybrids both FWD and AWD have a bigger electric motor that allows faster EV mode and 1sec faster 0-60, the old horsepower and torque numbers no longer apply and I suspect it's more like 220hp now since it's been upgraded similar to current Toyota hybrids rated the same.
>>
>>29040428
Oh yes that's so smart let me carry around piles of loose dirt and mulch and rocks and shit in my carpeted enclosed passenger compartment and just put a tarp down. I don't see why everyone doesn't do this.
But also it's less about the bed (even though that is infinitely more convenient) and more about the towing capacity. Nothing else in the bracket tows as well. Bronco sport tops at 2700, Explorer starts at 7k more and I don't want 3rd row seating at all.

In the maverick PR material they show a mountain bike going in the back seat. It's exactly my bike (2022 trek marlin 5) which is an all-rounder casual ass mountain bike that fits a maverick owner mindset.

I only care that I can do everything well. I just bought ratcheting bed bars to further enhance my ability to put garbage in the bed

>>29040541
Not everyone is as concerned about their status and virtue signaling as you are. It sounds like you're not capable of making a decision about anything without worrying about how society is going to perceive it. Obviously there's scenarios where that's a valuable asset that unfortunately a lot of people lack, and thus Walmart is full of overweight people in pajamas, but sometimes there are things that you need to do for your own personal benefit, like choosing which car you want to drive.

The fusion hybrids used the hf35 transmission, 2022-2024 maverick used the hf45, now updated to the hf55 in the 2025+ models.

In PowerBoost. Twin turbo hybrid, gets decent mpg for a half ton. Full size Maverick.

Getting a twin turbo truck with a 10 speed transmission is really kind of the antithesis of what the maverick as a hybrid is
