Not quite as rare, but exceptionally unexceptional. The Chevy Vega Cosworth. New wheels, some exterior design trim, and an engine tuned by Cosworth. Except they undid most of the tuning to lower costs and comply with emissions standards, taking the horsepower from 300ish on prototypes back down to 110. More than the base model's 90, but not exciting at all.

>>29039932Cylinder lining is actually pure silicone, it used a horrifically complicated manufacturing process where the block is an aluminum and silicone alloy, and the aluminum is etched out of the lining through various machining steps. That said, it actually holds up pretty well, there's loads of other stuff that breaks before that. Cosworths test models with the same block could rev to 9500 with no damage, so I reckon there's plenty more you could get out of the engine, especially with a better fueling setup.

In a way, that engine in general is somewhat futuristic in the tech it used, but it was still the early days for those things, so a lot of them broke down prematurely.

the 97-2002 v6 camrys also had a $3000 dealer option trd supercharger built by magnusson. Few people bought it because it was sold as delivering only 40 extra hp, but toyota failed to mention that this figure was measured at the wheels, and was being compared to the factory power rating taken from the engine, so you were actually getting closer to 100 extra hp. the kits are worth silly amounts of money now.

The first one from 1982.To commemorate their wins in the 1981 and 1982 NASCAR Grand National Series, Buick brought out a special trim of the Regal to drum up some sales volume. 215 charcoal gray cars were given silver side paint, shadow-lettered Buick mark on the rear quarter, some black trim pieces, and some interior trim pieces. 180 of them were generic Buick Regals with the same NA V6 making 125hp. Only 35 were the turbocharged Sport Coupes. That's 180 humdrum cars with an appearance package out of the ~225,000 Buick Regals made in 1982 or the ~1.8 million second gen Regals made in total.No Grand Nationals were made in 1983, but it would come back in 1984 as the blacked out, "dark side" coupe everyone knows and loves.
