The problem is that there's pretty much no comparable car that does what the STI does without taking some serious compromises. GRC is fun but a mostly FWD shitbox and the Golf R is way too numb. For me, I bought my VA STI in December of last year and probably will be only holding on to it until this upcoming December, I don't want to risk long term reliability, so downgrade a bit to the VB.

Z resales are in the toilet and modding a 50k mile car would not make it worth more. Its not like 2.0 vs 2.4 86s (and even then...if your choice is between a $10-14k 2.0 and a $20-24k 2.4...is the newer car worth $8-10,000?)Z is just mid, idk. Nissan set them up for stability at high speeds. You really have to try to get one to oversteer. The steering is okay, STi and Miata feel better. Shifter is a little crunchy/notchy with short throws. Not a fan of the clutch feel but mine is on 20+ year old clutch fluid which I'm gonna swap soon. I feel like if Nissan gave them an actual LSD it would've been a legendary car; they're really setup to push/understeer stock. Only thing I really like is the ride and soft forgiving clutch. Horsepower is okay; about as quick as the STi and a little quicker than the new ND1 I picked up. VQ is a good engine desu. Not sure why people keep claiming it hates to rev. Its not like a S2000/RX8. It has the powerband of a small mini-V8 or a Turbo 4cyl imo. Its a high point of the cars. I just couldn't connect with mine after nearly 4k miles.
