Difference is that normalfags originally were drooling over torque before bhp as high torque = high acceleration, with racefags only really taking notice of bhp figures. Then cars started to go beyond 200mph and normalfags were amazed by the high speed number and found out high torque isn't what made those cars go so fast, so they payed more attention to bhp as a measurement. This then wen't full circle when more and more cars broke the 200mph barrier and it seemed like a less impressive feat, but the fixation on bhp numbers remained.It's also a cope crutch. You're not a shit driver because you can't handle your car up against another sperg, the sperg just has the higher number than you. It's a carfag social score that you can increase with investing in modification and wear proudly at some bumbfuck parking lot meet.
