Genuine question: What makes it THREE times the price? I know the crash cell means it was never actually an M4 G82 off of the Dingolfing assembly line. I know all GT3s can take hits and jumps that would destroy a real G82. Its built with modularity in mind, to be repaired under stress.The P58 block is allegedly the same as an S58.
they're not built to sell in high numbers and racing teams will pay a lot more money for a car than civilians will. race cars are expensive because the manufactures can often charge that much and still have teams lining up to buy them.Some manufacturers want to be known as the more affordable option. GM reportedly had the cheapest race cars whilst Ferrari had the most expensive.

Basically everything else has been replaced with racing specific parts. The engine on the M4 GT3 isn't even in the same place, it's been moved backwards for better balance. The transmission, entirety of the suspension, almost everything inside the engine, the entire interior, and all of the body work is completely custom to the race version. As it may surprise you, none of those parts are cheap. For an idea of how much is different, here's a picture of the engine bay. A fair bit more than the $47,395 that they ask for the Type R road car.

if the race car doesn't fall apart 1m behind finish line, it was built too heavy and remains in a non-optimized casual lifestyle mode. Consequently all "race cars" outside formula one are marketing slop for larpers.

Manufacturers can charge what they want for competitive cars because racers want to win and they're only buying these cars to launder dirty cash anyway so it doesn't matter what it costs.
Found another picture of the M4 GT3. What you see in white (along with the major engine components and some other odds and ends) are all that remain from the road car. GT3 cars are like 10% road car and 90% race car. The M4 GT4 is much, much closer to the road car. Goes for around $250,000. Quite the steal compared to the $625,000 that the M4 GT3 would cost you.

Race cars are homologated to a specific class (GT3, GT4, etc.) that can be very specific on what is and isn't allowed in the construction. You're buying an M4 GT3 specifically because you want a car that is built to the GT3 rule set.
