What was going on with Lexus designs in the 2010s? Were we living through economic golden-age because how were these shapes profitable to produce for a mid range sedan to be sold overseas.

Normies love Lexus.

The geometric hour Glass shapes aged pretty well.
Initially I thought they were ugly but, it grew on me.

They stuck with traditional slushbox automatics for all their cars and for a very long time, no rnd wasted on cvts or dual clutches, plus on their eco models they could use their "eCVT" (which isn't really a cvt but way simpler and more robust than any modern transmission). This kept manufacturing costs low

mid 2010s
they still have some good style until 2013

the 6MT they gave the 2nd gen IS250 told me Toyota/Lexus couldn't give them a good manual transmission even if they wanted to
the 8 speed was pretty good for what it was and what it could do at the time and was durable than DCTs of the era.

That grill is awful and why I avoid all Lexus on top of being Goyota trash.
>>
>>29049117
The 6-speed the IS250 got was literally a truck transmission, no surprise it felt like shit

I think the 2IS has a nicer exterior, but the 3IS interior is a nicer place to be, and imo the slatted luxury grille looks better and less busy than the F sport mesh one.
.t gen 3 IS300h owner who maybe would have been happier with a 350
(I still like my car its a solid daily, pic related)

idk but my anime body pillows and i love my is500

Many such cases

Lexus has made some questionable design choices but only on their front ends, weirdly enough. I say this as a Lexus enjoyer, I love every single angle from my 2013 ES but that front grill is a bit much.
>>
>>29048894
This type of front end really only works on the RC and LC because they actually look like sports cars. Putting this front end on literally anything else (gs is es) makes it look out of place.
