Damn it

No actual damage to the lights, everything still works because that bottom bit is mostly decorative.

Am I allowed to keep driving like this or do I need to get it fixed? I am going to get it serviced in a month or so, is it ok to wait until then? What should I buy the parts off eBay and do it myself?

Pls help...

I didn't see the bollard, i was doing a three point turn because the parking lot suddenly became a one way road

It's between two disabled parking spaces... you know, so people in wheelchairs can't actually get out of their cars

>No actual damage to the lights
For now.
Shit's open now so it WILL fog up frequently, everything inside will corrode and the tail light will stop working in a couple months.
>>
>>29050346
oh no
a honda fit taillight
what a loss
>>
>>29050347
They will constantly pull you over with a non working tail light in a couple months tho.
If getting bothered by them non stop isn't an issue for you sure go ahead and live that life.

the bulbs still work retard the plastic case is irrelevant
however you WILL get shit if enough of the casing is broken to allow the unfiltered white light through, in some jurisdictions shining a white light from the rear of your car while moving forward is illegal and a cop would want you to put red tape over the hole.

OP here

If I get a replacement part on eBay is this easy enough for me to replace myself?

How long do you think I can drive around like this before it becomes a problem? Im a student with not much cash right now, but in a few months I will get a payment for my work experience. Today was actually the first day of my work experience so I can't be without a car on weekdays for the next three weeks

Do you live in europe? I can post a junkyard website where you can get parts for cheap. https://rrr.lt/en
compare the price of a junkyard light with ebay
there is probably a video on youtube on how to replace the light

Sorry, im in australia, area called east gippsland

It seems I'm going to have to buy this thing and fix it myself. I'm not completely useles, I did once replace the clutch cable on a cg125 motorcycle myself...

I could order the part and have it here by the end of the week, I just hope the lights don't die before then because of the rain or something
>>
>>29050372
Put some clear packaging tape on it. I drove around like that for years when I got a little hole in my taillight.
>>
>>29050374
Good idea!
>>
>>29050374
This, I did the same when I was in similar situation as OP
>>
Update

It has died... replacement has been ordered, hope i dont get arrested in the mean time, fuck
>>
>>29050389
In the mean time you could try to carefully take it out and inspect.
If just a plug yoinked out you could stick it back in and glue it into position with some tape (all happening on the backside of course, do not wrap it around the front side kek) until you get replacements
>>
>>29050389
>>29050391
OH and also I hope you collected the shards because you could try to puzzle piece them together on the rear light and insert them in the hole and THEN put CLEAR tape over the tail light to make them hold in there.
The tail light would look way more presentable like this until you can swap it and the cops may not jump you as quickly if the tail light looks sorta complete instead of having gaping holes in it.
>>

>>29050391

I did not, I was in the way.

So the running light seems to work, but the turn signal does not. Now the left turn signal is very fast and only uses the front and mirror turn signals

It was raining heavily

do the hot water trick on the bumper to push it back out, then stick a new light in. not hard.
>>
>>29050397
lack of resistance in the circuit. hopefully a smashed bulb and not damaged wiring but cross that bridge when you come to it.
>>
>his car doesn't have radar and a camera to make up for shit driving skills
Get a new car gramps
>>
>>29050415
This, fix the bumper first with hot water.

Cars without radar and cameras normally have functional windows, cars with cameras and radar awe awful to see out of. Go figure.
