Don't buy a Kia they said. It's not reliable they said. Buy a Toyota instead they said.

https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a73402826/2025-2026-toyota-camry-recall-blank-instrument-cluster/

Toyota is recalling more than half a million Toyota Camrys for a faulty instrument cluster that may leave drivers without a speedometer or working turn signals, among other key functions. Documents filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) say 508,354 Camrys may be affected.

The recall specifically applies to 2025 and 2026 Camry Hybrids with a 7.0-inch instrument cluster. Documents say the digital display may not turn on when the vehicle is started, which leaves a blank screen in place of information about speed, turn signals, hazard lights, and warning buzzers. Driver and passenger seatbelt warnings, as well as an alert for if the car's key is left inside, have also been noted to malfunction.

During its internal investigation, Toyota found the issue to be a software problem that's only present in Camrys equipped with a 7.0-inch digital cluster. The malfunction extends beyond the car's screen, however, as it also may deactivate the outside turn signals and hazard lights, which the NHTSA says is an increased crash risk.

Goyota slop gets recalled all the time. They can't into electrical systems. Those Japs are still stuck in the 80's.
>>

The electrical system works fine, it's a software issue. Mandeep strikes again.

>may leave drivers without a speedometer or working turn signals
And we are supposed to pretend with you that it's totally the same as a car setting itself on fire because it's a kia?
All other brands are better than a kia/hyundai/genesis. All. Other. Brands.

Believe it or not, too many.

Believe it or not, new Toyotas and all Kias can both be shit at the same time.

Honestly with today's bargain bin electronics in cars there's no guarantee any brand isn't gonna be shit.
Mercedes-Benz suffers from it, as well.
Doing a vehicle order coding job when installing an OEM alarm system risks bricking the entire infotainment system to the point of needing replacement.
Same when changing country coding after importing one.

can't trust any brands any more, have to go by model and sometimes even year
>>
if you're in search of an actually reliable car you are looking for a honda/acura or toyota/lexus from the years 1998-2014.

But can you name a kia/hyundai/genesis currently being made that HASN'T had some sort of fire related recall? I thought it would be the santa cruz because who the fuck would ever buy a shitty santa cruz... but the tow package for the santa cruz caused a fire related recall. I'm stumped.
The electric ones seem to have a relay catching fire problem and the gass ones are ass.

Can we go back to normal cars? Even if infotainment screens are occasionally useful, they shouldn't be used for anything beyond the radio. No HVAC, no gauge cluster, no settings beyond audio/bluetooth. Like this should just be common sense.

camry is an american car

depends on how convenient it is for the narrative. the Eagle MK III for example, many would say is a jap car. any jap branded car that is good even those built outside japan the japs get credit. if it's bad, then the blame gets shifted on whoever built it.

no, normies bitched at them for being stuck in the 80s. they caved and made their perfectly ordinary cars more EXCITING and SPORTY and look what happened.
