Dear Americans, this is called a handbrake. When you pull it up, it prevents the back wheels from moving. It can be found in between the driver and passenger seat.
>>29052138Yes americans know what the E-brake is. They choose not to use it. Also only retarded brits and canadians use it at every stoplight. I dont care that you were taught this in school. Stop it
>>29052144>E-brakeLmao
Mine is down by the pedals, actually.
I use that everyday. It sucks because it is hard to remember since I live in one of the flattest states in the country, but I am paranoid I will forget it when traveling if I don't make it a habit all the time. I also still use a physical key which cant be removed until the car is in park so it is likely redundant.
>>29052144>used to pull my handbrake at every light>get a new car with an electronic brake>requires foot on brake to engage/disengage and takes 5+ seconds to do so>engine shuts off at every light>get honked at constantly as car has to basically do a cold start and slowly releases the electric hand brakeHow do euros deal with this?
>>29052206They dont do it
>>29052207No. It is compulsory in Europe to use your handbrake at the lights. You can get a fine for blinding drivers behind you with your brake lights.
Anyone else use the hand brake anyway for a better launch regardless?
>>29052206my car has brake hold which does this automatically. any time you come to a complete stop it enganges the parking brake and disengages it when you hit the gas. i never use it though. no auto start-stop thankfully.
the fragile european mind cannot comprehend the vacuum operated auto-release parking brake pedal
>>29052138what do you do on an incline? warp your brakes?
>>29052138whaa? I thought you were supposed to keep both hands on the wheel?
>>29052138>it prevents the back wheels from movingIn some cars it works on the front. You may like to check that before impressing the girls.
>>29052206Handbreak in traffic stops is neurotic performative nonsense.
>>29052209"In Europe"
>>29052138>When you pull it up, it prevents the back wheels from moving. It locks the front wheels, you fucking retard. You'd know that if you ever changed a tire, which you havent.
>>29052379Low IQ or bait
>>29052149e-brake emergency brake ebrake handbrake
>>29052453it's rare but does happen, my 92 fwd loyale had front parking brakes, no way to break rear traction at all except yaw
>but what about the americans?
>>29052209Bullshit.Definitely not here (part of Europe). No one does it - except maybe indirectly via the "AutoHold" function. The handbrake is for parking, and allegedly there are even countries who don't even do that but park their cars without the handbrake so that you can push the other cars while maneuvering into a space (again, not here).
>>29052144>>29052206>Manual cars>Electronic Brakes>Engine auto on/off>Using parkimf brakes at stop signs/traffic lightsWhat the actual fuck is wrong with euros?
>>29052746Don't forget "you'll be ticketed for hurting mr goldstien's sensitive eyes with your *brake lights*"
There is no reason for using the handbrake for any reason other than parking. I’ve driven only manual for over 20 years. I even drift, but I’ve never used the handbrake for it. If you need the handbrake to not roll on a hill then you suck at clutch control. It’s for parking and professional drifting at high speeds on sticky tires. That’s it.
>>29053456Ok thanks, certified expert
>>29053456Post car
>>29053491Okay, that's not difficult. There's no reason to use the handbrake other than for parking. If you need the handbrake to not roll back on hills, you can't drive manual at the level of my 75 year old mother.>It's about time to go>Bring clutch to just before the bite point>Move right foot from brake pedal to throttle as you feather the clutch into the bite zone then roll on throttle>Zero rolling backYour car?
>>29053456>If you need the handbrake to not roll on a hill then you suck at clutch control.Pretty much every modern car, even manuals with electronic parking brakes, have hill assists. I scoffed at the idea initially, but it's actually one of my favorite features of my Civic Si.
>>29053515Good job. You posted car when no one else did. My cars auto and rolls back on steep hills. Enjoy the clap*clap* *clap*

>>29053451Are you actually this retarded and gullible?
>>29052226my car has one of those where its supposed to automatically disengage when you shift into drive but its stuck disengaged so now i dont have a parking brakeare you sure its vaccum operated? idve imagined electromechanical
