Well this is fun. There was a little more rust in my tank than I realized, and my CB1000 ate some of it. Now I get my first ever rebuild experience on four 32mm Keihin carburetors. I had cleaned the tank last summer and thought I had gotten everything out, but I think some that I couldn't see came loose over time, then the gasoline dissolved it. There was shit caked on the upper intake mesh for the petcock as well when I pulled the tank off. I usually put it in an insulated garage with a full tank of ethanol-free gas, and treat it over the winter.

Holy shit carb parts are expensive. I'm keeping the original jets, but fuck me I've hit $1k already. I legitimately wonder if I would've been totally reamed on labor as well. I hate not being able to take it out, it keeps me sane.

While i didnt get the exact sag parameters yet, i wanted to go for a quick ride and see how the new tires are and if axle was at least ok
10 mins in i go off a bunnyhpp and flatten my ghetto ziptied license plate
Things almost completely destroyed

So im back here, had a happy littlw drive but i also forgot to install the side fairing cause i kept getting distracted by dumbass shit
Oh well, spring felt good even missing like 30mm of preload, i want to trail ride it once i get this license plate holder reattached
I think i have to bend my exhaust pipes back or maybe i attached it and tightened the wrong spots first during the most recent reassembly
I didnt actually have a partner to view my measuring tape while setting the sag; instead i used my borescope and twisted to see via phone screen lmao
>>
>>29052279
Yeah It's kind of tight to fit stuff under there. The line comes off the fuel valve and across the frame to the inlet on the other side, in kind of a shallow S-curve. Still though if you have some suggestions for brands or places to buy, I'm all ears.

>>29052282
>>29052287
Yeah I live waaaaaay outta' town, and it takes like 2 weeks for parts to show up, I have to do a lot of wrenching myself and I stopped relying on auto shops a couple of years ago unless it's body work. It's one of those jobs like transmission work where since you're gonna be in there at the time you replace things, especially rubber seals, just to be sure for hopefully the next 40 years. Unless I hear otherwise I don't think anyone has touched the carbs on this bike, if that's possible. I'm the second/third owner since my dad traded the original owner for airplane parts before I was born.

>>29052238
The last ride I took pic related on, I was trying to sus out the fuel issue and went to the end of a scenic lake road. A crowd of 20-somethings on modern bikes showed up and after everyone chilled a while they decided to do an impromptu group ride into the evening. It was funny, when they saw my bike they were like "dude that thing's a huge flex, holy shit. Air cooled?" They could outrun me on the straightaways if they really wanted to, but it kept up with them well. I took up tail position as we went across town, and it was funny because we encountered a bunch of state police at one point. The motorcycle cops were cool, but when one of them fell in behind the pack he actually cut in front of me, like they didn't even consider that I might actually be in the formation. Fucking 2-3 cruisers including a... what is it, a Dark Horse Mustang as well? My bike is strangely low-profile unless I go out of my way to be retarded. There was something major going on, so we were disregarded.

We wound up on the back side of another lake loitering in the dark. It was like they had nowhere to hang out.
>>
>>29052338
I don't have brand suggestions, but making fuel line slightly longer wouldn't hurt it. Also those filters are tiny, walnut sized.

Genuinely why the fuck didn't you just run a tank of seafoam through it first and give it an italian tune-up? That + an inline fuel filter (which it shoulda already had) would have saved you any downtime at all. The fuck, anon. We're reaching levels of wrenchlet previously thought not possible.

>Modern Moto culture is OF hoes, stunt fags, straight line warriors, and petty divas that do it only for external validation

The cameras I don't care about because you can capture some cool/funny irl shit, what I think is super lame is how narcssistic the scene is now much more than anytime in history before. My guess is that happened when social media became mainstream on phones. Nobody authentically enjoys motorcycling or motorcycles, they just enjoy the attention of being perceived as a motorcycle enthusiast because it supplies them with something they most likely lacked most of their life: Attention, recognition, and in some instances admiration.
Bikes attract egotistical halfwits, for every intelligent person with a genuine passion there are 3 clueless morons that got into it because they saw 1 poster/social media post/their friend roped them into it.
Don't even get me started on the deeply unserious post modern millennial derived self defeating silly billy shit that these new riders do. The fuzzy covers, the goofball gimmicks, the corny cartoon-like expressions and behaviors while on a bike. All of that shit, is deeply wrong. Bikes aren't risk free nerf toys, they have life altering affects and while yeah we can all agree a motorcycle can be considered a man-toy jokingly. The reality is, you can easily be maimed, crippled, burned, or outright killed from the experience. That's part of the fun and fulfillment. The issue is, being unserious heavily distorts the perspectives of the audience that soaks that shit up. They think it's a wonderful whimsical new hobby filled with nothing but sunshine, rainbows, and kitty's when it's actually not.
Idk, maybe it's old man hollering at the sky hours but the shit that people let fly is NOT cool man.

>>
>>29053178
Except you've already failed by omission. You wouldn't be squawking for attention if not. "Not caring what I look like!" to you, I'm sure, is a carefully curated aesthetic, and thus inauthentic. It's more authentic to just like what you like. If what you like is something ugly, that's fine - there's beauty to be found everywhere. For example I have a soft-spot for old rusty moto-guzzis. I just like them.
You don't have the justify your aesthetic choices, but pretending to be superior by omitting them is really telling and funny to me.

To register a carb bike, I need less than 3.5% CO on exhaust test. Is this achievable for JP carb bikes 90's-00's? I know there are mixture adjustment screws on carbs, but is this as straightforward of a process as setting CO modifiers in diag menu/through diag port on injector bike?

Can I do it on the spot or do I have to pop up the gas tank and get into the guts with a screwdriver? Because former might be allowed during the test, latter - definitely not.

those engravings give you no tactical advantage whatsoever
you can be free not to care about how other people think of you, but that will never change the fact that you look like a retard

Is your bike a boy or girl?

Is this shit normal for engine mounts? Between frame bracket and engine there is like factory steel washer that was spot welded in only 2-3 places. I can stick a piece of paper between frame and that washer until the place where it's spot-welded to frame.

Yes; Shoom and Shoomers

As a European who has never ridden a cruiser in his life Indian bikes look 10x better than Haley Davidson. If I had to buy a cruiser, I'd get a bobber by Indian.

The scout and their engine blocks in general look like shit plastic though
At least they kept the linework.with a brand like victory; indian bikes are reminiscent of some of the cooler victory bikes and their design- they remind me of same tastes

I thibk /dbt/ only really had indian scout and indian FTR owners, i havent rwally seen baggers with thst brand on here

But if i want indian lines and curves, i dont think id buy one, but the m109r looks very similar in style
But some stupid reason, regardless of all these shits, its probably better to just build your own fucking vtwin at this point with a crate motor
Japanese dont have options except across brands
Harley new baiks are riddled with electronics cancer to lock you out and certify their certified handiman is the only one you ask for permission to fix your bike
Plus, S&S makes better versions of harley motors than milwake fucknuts do

Anyways, i feel like indian is just there: underappreciated and just barely failing to meet the mark of some quirky things

Speaking of crate motors, wonder how hard or possible itd be to stick one inside japscrap frame, i tried to research this and had zero luck for those swaps

Is is the desert sled something now desired sll of a sudden

W800 ngl i would wonder if theres a 2stroke conversion possible, because thats what id want to do to the piss twin, make it piss missle 2 stroke and have bubba huge pipes
Its too bad they dont have like a 1400cc+ piss twin, any of the japanese bikes
Closest is the super tenny and rebel/twin engines
Idk why but i like big displacement piss twins or 2 smoke versions of them, but they otherwise piss me off

You have bad taste my man, endemic in Europe I’m afraid

Sometimes I forget how physically involved riding is until I'm riding home from the gym and my whole body feels like jelly.
