Hennesey's gonna make a new car called Blackbird. It fits current trend of analog supercars (NA, manual, no screens).But why not put a supercharger in it? It lets you keep similar power curve to NA while making the car faster and adding cool whistle. And considering that superchargers have been around for 100 years, we can't say it's not an analog feature. In fact even turbo isn't that unanalog, considering that F40 and air cooled 911 which people love had them.I feel that if we will have to say goodbye to ICE, a supercharged Miata would be a good way to do so.

>>29052737>But why not put a supercharger in it?Heat soak, lowered efficiency at higher RPMs, you really shouldnt' spin a supercharger at super high RPMs again because of lower efficiency, the vanes kinda require maintenance every so often, supercharger whine isn't preferred for some reason, supercharger belts can fail, it often adds height or extra dimension to the engine where a turbo can be placed just about anywhere, it adds great low to mid RPM but not insane top end power like a turbo, and turbos give higher horsepower numbers on the dyno. I think superchargers in general are simply more expensive too. Supercharged miatas are "common" since most people aren't thrashing their miata near red line on a track. I think Toyota's TRD had about a decade of adding a weak supercharger and few people bought it because it was so expensive and didn't give big horsepower increases but added plenty of torque.

The word turbo comes from them being driven by a turbine using exhaust gasses as opposed to the crank. You're talking like there's only one type of supercharger. You can get centrifugal superchargers that alleviate most of the problems you present.

Its been confirmed if they used a similar engine setup with turbos it would have far too much power and make the top fuel dragsters too fast. They keep implementing rules to go slower including 1000 foot tracks, power limiters, tire limitations, etc and the cars keep getting faster.
