what's it like driving a pick up truck? I only driven a sedan but I want a truck because they look cool as fuck and could pull a trailer which I might get in the future
>>
It's awesome.
>I only driven a sedan
Unfortunately they're only for white people, sorry bud.
>>
>>29053890
Soulless and gay
The Maverick is neat if youre a broke retard, really good value with the 4k package.
The Nissan Frontier is kinda neat.
Whatever you do get a good sound system and be prepared to hate driving.
>>
>>29053890
It’s nice. Sits a little higher but is pretty much a sedan now.
>>
>>29053890
they are mogged by body on frame suvs like the nissan armada
>>
>>29053890
I like sedans better because I like knowing that I can turn at high speed without flipping over
>>

I drive a modern Ranger for work
Pros:
>King ohv dah road baby
>Plenty of pick up and go
Cons:
>Total cunt to park
>Easy to speed/promotes shitty driving due to all the pick up and go
>Ipad controls suck absolute ass, markedly worse than dials/sliders
>Often feels like threading the needle staying in a lane
>Driver assist in miserable, although probably for the best
>Terrible MPG
>Feel bad that I'm genuinely a hazard to other cars

I understand why people drive them but they should be banned.
>>
>>29053890
It’s like a semi only harder to see over the hood and harder to park and with a shittier ride quality.
>>
>>29053890
Rent one for a few days and find out.
>>
They suck dick in cities. Especially if it's a city that necessitates a lot of u-turns and has tight traffic.
>>
>>29053944
I think everyone should be forced to buy a sedan unless they take an extra driving safety course, fill out an annoying form, pay a 200 tax stamp, and then wait a year to get approved.

>could pull a trailer
You can buy Fiesta for that
>>
>>29053890
The best part is the seating position. They're so tall that you're basically sitting fully upright. Absolutely night and day difference to any sedan or crossovers, and very few SUVs can match it.
>>
>>29053944
You know there are trucks that are actually good, right? There's a reason why the F-150 outsells the Ranger 1000:1.

>>29053974
I hear this pretty often yet I much prefer driving my giant SUV around to get groceries and run errands. Skill issues? I think so.
>>
I have a 2025 Maverick hybrid, 2020 Ranger and 2010 Accord coupe

The maverick is by far the best daily driver, it handles better than the accord and is the fastest of the 3.

The Ranger drives like a boat, I get so much understeer if I'm going on twistys. You feel every bump, it's sluggish with the turbo 4 until you're deep in the pedal. It feels fucking huge driving it while it's smaller inside than the maverick. The Ranger has you sitting like the Accord / sedan because the floor is higher from body on frame. Since the maverick is unibody and like a suv, it has a much more vertical room and you sit more upright naturally in it.

Not a fan of trugs. Big fan of fake trug (maverick aka ford civic)
>>
>>29054574
Wtf why do you have 3 shitt vehicles?
>>
do they really ride that badly?
I have some l4/l5 issues that are slowly resolving. But fuck me a tacoma trd manual seems like fun but everyone says "trucks ride like shit".
>>
>>29054597
Half tons (not your companies base model truck) are some of the smoothest vehicles you can buy. Trucks like the Raptor and the TRX ride like clouds. They're one of the few vehicles left that can still run proper sidewalled tires. Tacoma's ride worse than most 3/4 tons. Most of the small trucks ride like shit.
>>
>>29054602
ah. I'll stay away, then. I'd want something smaller. Just not for me, right now.
Maybe someday a full size F150 or Tundra.
>>
>>29054603
A half ton GMT800 is the size of a new Tacoma but rides way better.
>>
>>29054487
Yes needing 3+ lanes to make a uturn is a skill issue because they have the turning radius of a speeding arrow. Retard.
>>
>>29054658
Which trucks have you driven?
>>
>>29053890

>>

>>
>>29054597
My brother's F150 (super duty) drives like shit and my coworkers 2025 tacoma drives like shit. Just stuff like throttle jerking around the cabin and shit you don't really get in a car easily
>>
>>29054780
To add to this, my brother had a brand new manual jeep wrangler and it rode like mega shit. I think people love being jostled around while they get groceries because it feels rugged
>>
>>29053890
If you want the ride height and extra space minivans drive way nicer than any pickup I've driven

Old school truck? Short nose, long ass, vibrates on hitting anything rough because leaf springs in the back.

But you got a hug open area to toss anything into.

Towing is an engine thing, not a truck thing. My old Deville can haul more than my ranger, and my ranger has the F150 4.0 in it.
>>
any car can pull a trailer
i have a pickup
its to transport shit but since im poor i cant afford a truck and a daily driver, so i have a pickup

they are one generation behind in the interior in every current year
americans are utter and total garbage, japanese are decent
it feels like you are driving a sedan, but a little higher
unless you are a manlet
then you will feel like king lmao

>>
>>29053890
In a modern truck it's just like being in a sedan just taller. They are a little bigger but overall just fine to get around in.
>>
>>29053974
Why would you live in a city?
>>
>>29054092
Where do you put the trailer when you're not towing?

I've got a '20 Ranger, which is basically the same vehicle underneath. No iPad bullshit thankfully but the other stuff should be the same, and your post confuses me because I don't have those issues with mine. You defintely notice the distance from the ground, as well as road noise and vibrations from body on frame design (still superior to unibody in all other respects), worse with beefier tires. Bad turn radius due to RWD on a long frame, but this is only a problem if you're a bad driver/one of those sunglasses+goatee truck guys, if so you'll find it harder to drive. Dogshit fuel economy, but because of the 2-3x larger gas tank, you won't notice until you realize gas is eating more of your budget than it did with your smaller vehicle. Most trucks have a giant, squared-off hood now, so you'll see less of the road in front of you and will need to adjust accordingly when it comes to parking. Your insurance is going to be much higher, because you're essentially driving a luxury vehicle as far as appraisal/ACV is concerned, and repairs will cost a lot. If you're not using it for hauling or putting stuff in the bed that often, you'll quickly realize that you have more vehicle than you need and you're just another trugger. If you're just going to be driving the family around or something, a body-on-frame SUV is best of both worlds if any of the above sounds appealing. Generally build quality on all trucks sucks ass now because manufacturers know that the people buying them are just using them as a status symbol, so be prepared for electronics and sensors to die, engine/transmission recalls, and other large scale failures with routine driving, more if you plan to use the truck for what it's intended.
>>
>>29058264
You're not using a computer nigger you're driving a car dumbass
>>
>>29054658
1980-1996 fullsize bronco has a tighter turning radius than a Camry (any year).
Thats not typical but it does show that "trucks" vary wildly and fill specialized roles like any other class of vehicle.
>>
>>29059726
Do you think your back and hips care about what kind of chair you're sitting in?
>>
>>29055261
>any car can pull a trailer
My trailer is 900 pounds and my SxS is 1,600 pounds.
You sure you want to be towing that with a civic through a mountain pass after a snow storm?
>>
>>29059723
Why are euro's allowed to post here? Funny how you people "hate trucks" at home yet everybody who came here for the World Cup praised them when they actually drove one.
>>
>>29059772
All of my family have been in the USA since the war of 1812, I live in North Carolina and I drive full size pickups and bigger for work. I've owned F150s and Sierras. I'm sorry that you're upset that I have a different opinion than you do, but please don't insinuate that I'm a European.
>>
>>29059723

>>
>>29053890
My buddy owns a GMC Canyon Diesel (rare, I guess) and lets me drive it every once in a while. You have to really shove your feet into the acc pedal and brakes in comparison to a sedan. I can drive my 4dr with one big toe. The Canyon's pedals feel like a genuine leg workout. Also parallel parking it is a nightmare. His has a 6ft bed, so it's extra cancer. At least the mirrors are nice and big and you get a rear camera. If you live in a city and don't pull shit, just get a damn car.

Drive trucks down poorly maintained logging and oil/gas roads multiple times a week for work.
With the bad turn radius multi point turns are mandatory in most situations.
Fuck leaf springs. I hate leaf springs.
Visibility is objectively shit. Yeah you can compensate and learn to work around it, but poor visibility that you work around is still poor visibility. New trucks have theses retarded squared off and bulbous hoods that become an actual problem off road. It doesn't take much of an incline or bump for you entire forward view to just disappear behind your giant hood.
>>
>>29059857
What kind of trucks?
>>
>>29059769
Yea they care about what activity you're doing dumbass. You're using a keyboard and looking at a computer screen. Not pushing pedals, shifting and turning a wheel.

>>29059772
How much of a genuine goy do you have to be to fall for that world cup slop? Hoooly fuck.
>>
>>29059934
I didn't realize my bones had so much sentience. It sure is considerate of them to just decide things like that on their own. I do have a couple questions though.
How can I trick my bones into thinking that they're driving all the time so I never have to worry about posture anymore? Can I trick them into thinking I'm driving when I'm on the computer or the couch?
Also why is it when you look at any full time commercial driver, whether it's a semi truck, train, bus or plane, their seats are always straight upright? If it's better for your back to slouch backwards when you're driving, why do the people who drive more than anyone in the world not have the best chairs?

And my 1,597 pound SxS with its 500cc engine is rated to tow 1,600 pounds.
But we live in reality, not on paper.

Go ahead and hook up that 5,000 pound load to the falcon for a road trip and report back in a month.
>>
>>29060112
Genuine retardation holy crap. Yes the position of your neck, arms and legs matter. Sitting at a computer you are trying to prevent eye and neck strain.
>>
>>29059723
Body on frame is inherently more isolated from road noise and vibration by design actually
>>
>>29059935
enough of a goy to feel personally attacked when someone points out that pickup trucks have drawbacks like any other car. the golem conditioning was a huge success.
>>
>>29060461
You think posture and eye strain are related? Are eyes bones?
>>
>>29055147
>Towing is an engine thing, not a truck thing.
1 part, you also need the appropriate gearing, frame, brakes, suspension and transmission. Trucks have all of that whereas most other vehicles do not. Small vehicles can pull small loads fine, but saying I can just rip the hood off my fiesta or focus and drop in a higher displacement engine to pull more is incorrect.
>>
>>29060500
nta but your eyes can definitely be affected by cervical spinal issues caused by poor posture. just google what you just posted and spend a few minutes reading about it.

I've driven more trucks than I have cars, I learned to drive in a '99 Suburban and '01 F-150 V8. I don't like them nor do I find them any more comfortable than my miata other than getting in and out. Some trucks are even less comfortable going over bumps and potholes than said miata, wishbones with soft OE springs dampen out vibrations very well. I feel unsafe with raised seating position personally.
>>29057742
I'm currently sitting with my feet on the chair seat, knees toward my chest. Picrel is the only example I could think of except I tilt back into the seat rest.
I have never sat properly. Almost 40, I've spent so much time with my right arm raised and tensed on the mouse that the right side of my back is noticeably and obviously larger than the left. I have extreme forward posture and my body generally "wants" to be in the fetal position.
Still no pain and 20/15 eyesight so that's good.

It feels more like you're dragging a cargo ship's anchor. I've driven 5.3, twin-turbo ecoboost, duramax 6.6. Not the top of the lines, but some of the more powerful ones, and all I feel is the weight I'm dragging.
>>
>be me

I know I don't need one, but I've always wanted a pickup

is a Tundra worth the premium over an F150? a ~2023 F150 Lariat is like $45k, whereas a similar age Tundra is maybe $55k

You know posting this only aligns with my point, right? Your spine doesn't care that you're driving. It can't tell the difference. Posture is posture regardless of the activity. Sitting in a car is the same as sitting at a desk or a table or on a chair or a bench or a stool.
