Why did it flop?

do i even need to say it

>Double bones
On a 4 door pigfat sedan? Who cares? What are you gonna be tracking this thing.
>>
>>29054975
It means you don't need to have stiffer springs to get good body control.
But yes, the chassis is extremely capable of being tracked. The Project 8 is one of the fastest saloons round the burgerking ever.
>>
>>29054978
>fastest saloons
Again, who cares. It's a 4 door boat. Nobody buying these is tracking them, and if they do they're retarded for not just getting 2 cars that are both better suited for their specific tasks.

It's going to absolutely molest whatever tires you put on this thing in 2 laps.

And any car that can't consistently put laps down without overheating or roasting the fuck out of the tires isn't a car worth putting on a track.
>>
>3900 pounds
>burgerking
Just get a 911. It'll drive better.
>>
>>29054939
>Why did it flop
jaaaaaag reputation for unreliability, probably earned since it shares so much of its equipment with Rover
>>
>>29054939
I like it.

>>29054986
Just glossing over the M3? Post your car retard.

>>29054999
The S4 was like 3750 with 350hp.
>>
>V6 is actually a V8 with two cylinders blocked off
That's a great reflection of how much effort they put into this thing

>muh broccoli head m3
I will never understand the logic of compromising both your ride quality of a luxury sedan, while simultaneously compromising performance because it's a 3500lbs+ boat.

I would rather spend the same amount of money on a comfortable npc sedan and a lightweight sportscar for the weekend, and that would accomplish the same goals but significantly better.

Heavy cars suck ass on the track if you don't have an infinite budget. They just blow through consumables and the tires overheat after like 2-3 laps. And there's no fixing that short of completely stripping it and doing carbon fiber body panels. So if you can't rip it around the track without it overheating or constantly worrying about consumables then what's the point? Instagram clout? Burnouts? highway pulls? It's all fake bullshit for clout chasing online.

Buy a 2 door m3 like a man, take it to the track, and get a corolla or some other faggy npc car as a dd.
>>
>>29055083
But the XE S isn't a track car, it's a smallish saloon that handles well and is quite fast. Basically an M340i but supercharged and with better suspension
>>
>>29055088
>smallish saloon
>3800lbs
why do you guys keep ignoring that the most important metric for a performance car is the weight. that affects the acceleration, handling, braking, wear, heat managment etc etc etc.

3800lbs is fucking terrible.

if you want a performance car, go buy a performance car. if you want a luxury sedan, go buy a luxury sedan. Why are we trying to combine two completely opposing engineering philosophies all to end up with a more expensive, shittier version of both.
>>
>>29055088
>But the XE S isn't a track car,
and that's my point, who cares about performance if it's not a track car. You're just buying a car that's been completely fucked up to set a good burgurking lap times. it's just a pointless abomination that does neither comfort or practicality well because you fell for some marketing bullshit.
>>
>>29055095
For starters it's 3600 rather than 3800
Secondly yes it's still a bit of a porker at 1600kg, but it's quiet on the motorway, comfy because it has supsension that doesn't need stiff springs, and it's still fun/pretty fast when I do get a good B road.
>>
>>29055105
>comfy because it has suspension that doesn't need stiff springs
I don't think you understand how suspension geometry and spring rates work. Those two things are completely unrelated.
>>
>>29055083
>>29054986
Why are you always so fucking tight in the ass bro
Relax
>>
>>29055124
because I want good cars to be made and these performance sedans/suvs are a complete waste of engineering resources and you retards keep glorifying this shit.

Like imagine if jaguar made a good 2 door sportscar instead of this abomination. now imagine if every manufacturer did that and there was actually competition in the segment. You'd have more options to pick from than just fucking brzs and gt86s. More people need to be mad about what was taken from us and replaced by this bullshit.

>>29055131
why are you posting a picture of your grandmother, that's pretty fuckin weird bro.
>>
>>29055150
I think you just need to go for a walk dude.
If all new cars are shit dont buy them. Otherwise, buy the ones you like so more of those get made. You used to just be retarded but now you're also a snippy asshole looking down your nose at everyone you percieve as less educated than you while you drive an FRS and a fucking mach E.
>>
>>29055154
>We do have more options than the faggy brz and 86 what are you talking about?
name one and I'll tell you why you're wrong.

>And kek you’d rather I post some ugly fatties huh?
your grandma isn't hot or skinny.
>>
>>29055156
I'm not looking down on anyone, I'm saying you guys should expect more from manufactures. The offerings right now are a fucking joke. Overpriced, overweight numb pigfat influencer bullshit.

>If all new cars are shit dont buy them.
nobody is buying them, that's why I'm mad. You guys want fun cars to stay around stop encouraging "everything" cars that end up working for nobody and end up selling like shit.

They're going to keep getting cancelled or switched to evs.
>>
>>29055161
I couldn't care less about new cars though
Beyond that, legislation is largely whats driving these trends. Emissions and safety gets stricter every year with no upward which increases cost, weight, complexity and so on. They are also being pushed to harvest data and include surveillance equipment in the nane of safety. Manufacturers make up for this increase in manufacturing costs by decreasing cost and serviceability elsewhere.

Instead of kvetching on an image board where nobody has the money or desire to buy new cars, take it up with your legislators getting paid off by jews.
>>
>>29055167
>no upward which
No upward limit*
>>
>>29055154
Your 20 year old m5 is not faster, prettier, nor more luxurious lmao
>>
>>29055167
you should care about new cars because eventually there won't be old cars.

>legislation is largely whats driving these trends
ND miata. Despite the bullshit, they were able to make one of the best iterations of every miata.

In reality manufacturers just don't care. They produce low effort shit, complain nobody is buying said shit, then scrap it. then take those engineers and slap them onto some unholy abomination like the x5m and then pay 100,000 jeets to shill it online.
>>
>>29055172
Because he can't afford any new car so he says he doesn't care. I'm pretty sure I'm the only one here with a < 3 year old car.
>>
>>29055172
>Low effort
Just look at Porsche
>Remove MT from c2s for 2 years
>Reintroduce it with 15k MT package
>170k c2s with MT
Pay up goy
>>
>>29055201
There arent any new cars that interest me, and I dont want anything I cant service myself if I choose to.

All irrelevant

t. been to the ring, lots of f80 and g80 m3s doing lap after lap

Huge competition within the already dying Saloon class (because of the Cuckovers)

Cheaper alternatives.

It is sad to me, too.

They did.
The X351 did offer two V8 options
>>
>>29055150

They did, it was the f-type and because you didn't buy it they decided to make garish satin bricks for botoxed up new york marketing directors instead.
>>
>>29054939
jaguar is one of the most historically mis-managed companies in history. they've been on a downward spiral since ford sold them. a big problem with jaaaaag at that time was they had so many different fucking engines and options that it was hard to even understand what a model was about. should be noted that post ford both companies went with german management, and germans don't really work outside of germany. add vulture capitalism and a government actively disinsentivizing manufacturing in order to prop up the eu's continent wide industrial restructuring (ie keep germans in jobs so they don't invade cunts again) and you get jaaaaag.

aston martin seems to have responsible owners now, jaaaaaag is basically fucked.
>>
>>29055004
it's mainly fantasy. compared to its european counterparts it has more faults, but the faults are trivial; shit like air conditioning and infotainment. the european manufacturers have fewer faults but most of them stop the car from functioning.

european car magazines share a lot of blame for this because they rank all faults as of equal measure. because if they don't the germans will tell them to fuck off with their access. and so what you hear is that the british makers are unreliable.

seriously, when you actually start reading into this shit you learn how dirty and craven the entire industry is.
>>
>>29054939
It should have gotten the LSD from F-Type V6 from the factory

>>

jag's v6 is actually a v8 but jeets literally left two cylinders blank
>>
>>29056109
In case you were wondering, that jeep and the jag had niggers in them and yes it was the niggers who did the murder. In true crime videos whenever there's a nigger it's the nigger that did it. It's always a nigger who did the murder.

Except the F-Type wasn't that good, it used the old chassis from XK, instead of the new, aluminum one from the XE and last gen XF.
>>
>>29055095
>3800lbs is fucking terrible.
Doesn't a 2018+ Mustang GT weigh around that? Many don't think of that car as a porker.
>>
>>29056503
Because the F-type came out before the XE and the XF used the chassis from the S-type. The shortened XK chassis that the F-type used is an aluminium monocoque chassis. Absolutely nothing wrong with it.
>>
>>29055031
lol wtf
>>
>>29058246
I remember peering into my F-type engine bay when I first got it and a neighbour and I were chuckling when you could just see the rest of the block but missing the cyclinder heads. Making the whole upside of having a V6 instead of a V8 rendered useless. It did sound nice though.
>>
>>29058246
The V6 straight up uses the V8 block casting, it just skips out on the machining and sleeving on a pair of cylinders.
>>
>>29054939
It makes less power out of less reliable engine while weighing just as much as a Dodge that you can get in a trim with more than double the power for the same price gee I wonder why.....
>>
>>29058265
What if there was a truly modular engine that was composed of V-twins that you couple together
>>
>>29054975
Because its more comfortable.
>>
>>29061679
Some dude on youtube built a v8, if we're using a very loose definition, out of single cylinder utility motors. For something less redneck, there's a company in NZ making a v8 out of a custom block with S1k internals and heads. It's called the synergy engine.
>>
>>29055590
British manufacturers ruined their reputation over several decades. All through the 80s to (and especially in) the 00s British cars were plauged with electrical issues. Sure, these days it might only be the infotainment playing up, but 20 years ago it was the ECU and engine harness plagued with issues.
>>
>>29061806
Ruined our reputation in the 80's to 00's? Our industry was dead after the 80's.
>>
>>29054939
I see them about all the time. Yes I am in the centre of the UK.
>>
>>29061894
Not the 3 litre, less than 1000 were sold in yookay
