They are really dangerous. In many ways.

How's the quality of FEL-PRO gaskets? I need to buy a valve cover gasket for my NA8. Having a hard time finding OEM one locally.
>>
Miatas are dangerous, you have to pay motorcycle level attention in a Miata. Unlike a bike, you at least have *some* protection from shit like somebody side swiping you. But not much. And also keep in mind crash tests are adjusted for weight, so smaller cars get higher scores than reality reflects (most shit on the road is 2k lbs heavier than a Miata).

That's the nicest MX-5 I've seen, the boot lip spoiler makes it look like a mini viper. LS swap it and put sidepipes on it and that's pretty much the ultimate roadster.

The bidders in bring-a-trailer are truly insane. $23,000 and I has a decent size dent in one of the doors. This kind of retardation drives up prices.
>>
>>29055486
I wouldn't disagree that they're dangerous but how much more dangerous are they than any other 90's car? A 98 Camry is still tiny and a tin box. Honestly I think the hard top on most other cars from the era give a false sense of security (other than in flips). Even a modern compact car would get utterly pulverised, although visibility is a big issue ofc.
>>
>>29055710
modern subcompacts are surprisingly survivable, worth watching some crash test videos and comparing with 1990s cars.
>>
>>29055486
Just don't crash???
I don't understand why safety is such an issue for some
>>
>>29055778
I understand it's a joke, however:
Anecdotally between myself, friends and family, crashes have been inflicted upon them (rear ends, being merged into etc etc) rather than being at fault. There are some seriously munted drivers out there.
>>
>>29055631

Does anyone offer suspension parts that are not basic stamped metal? I wonder if there is any weight saving benefit from that.
>>
>>29056408
Also, if you don't already have them, consider getting "coilover socks" and spraying the threads and body with a fogging oil - it helps keep the threads free of the grime and corrosion that forms over time. I left mine exposed and needed to adjust them a year or so later, and it was a hell of a fight to break the collars loose. In the end I was forced to sit and clean them up before being able to adjust anything. A valuable lesson was learned that day...
>>
>>29056428
Good call, I have some ptfe dry lube that could do the trick
>>
>>29056425
>I wonder if there is any weight saving benefit from that.
From *not* using stamped metal...? Probably not, the reason it's stamped in the first place is to save weight. I doubt an aluminium wishbone that's strong enough to handle the forces required of it would be lighter than the OEM stamped steel one... or it might just be too big to fit, maybe? I know Mazda went pretty hard trying to shed weight from the ND, are the wishbones on that cast aluminium? If so, how large are they in comparison to the NA/NB arms?
>>
>>29056442
>>
>>29056448
Introduced with NC, i guess it was too much cost for NA and NB.
>>
>>29056448
Looks like cast aluminium to me, but it also looks pretty damn chunky. NA/NB arms are tiny.

Just installed the 2nd mod in my miot (precious, forever-car, cute). It's a wireless music connection device that lets me retain the stock radio. It's amazing I'm listening to all my favorite songs and I don't care that the one anon on here tricked me into making my cd player shit itself. Also when I play music I can even hit the forward and backward button on the stock radio to go to the next song on youtube/mp3.

2) Perfect radio

Installed the FM fuel pump relay to go with the DW200 pump. They give EXACT length from the fuse to the battery, but an extra two feet of wire from the fuse to the relay...

I've had miats since '08 but haven't looked into turboing them.
In the DSM ('90s Eclipse) and Subaru worlds fuel pressure regulator tuning is generally frowned upon as dangerous and promoting bad AFRs.
Big pump, big injectors, and the rest is done through tuning the injector duty cycle. I guess in the '90s and '00s people were tuning their fuel with *only* an FPR and that was the issue.
Does the miata just not flow enough fuel without an aftermarket FPR for some reason?

my miata is 2002, so there is no return line. I didnt like where the stock hardline went so I replaced everything and ran a new return to the tank so I am not returnless anymore.

I got it because I needed a regulator and I like the dial it has. I could have gone with something like a corvette filter with the built in reg but I wanted real feed and return lines. Now when I go with the LS I know I will have the fuel system to go nuts with.

No I used an extended front lip beneath the air dam that matched the thickness and position of the lower pods because I could only feel it around 160km/h and I know that pic rel versions of my car initially had a similar issue that was solved with more front downforce. So I fitted an extended front lip beneath the air dam and it made the front end a bit sharper at high speed. Obviously they redesigned the entire AU falcon bodykit professionally with engineers and I nigger rigged an ebay part but we were addressing the same problem with the same solution, mine had the series 3 rebel bodykit and it looked too good to replace with the ugly ass R-spec from the touring cars.

It's the hood/headlight gap that annoys me. On the one hand it would be quite expensive to produce a unique hood to fill in where the headlights were, but on the other hand the way the bumper randomly squares off inward to fill the space the headlights once occupied just looks like a massive bodge.

A few people have fixed this themselves, pic rel, and it makes a *huge* difference in my eyes, as it makes the car look much more professional.

Although I could have done that easily with a composite hood, I didn't want to. I wanted it's NA'ness to shine through. Built it ten years ago, if there is any regrets about the headlights, it would be than I didn't keep the pop-up's functional as accessory driving lights.

Been there, I just imagined driving your car up through the mountains where the twisty grey trees are and down through the lakes and pine trees south to north. It was a good daydream (I have never driven a roadster but almost bought a 2005 MG TF)

I only find really egregious things on NAs. The "halo" headlights are ugly and so is the eBay gv lip they add. It ruins the silhouette. NAs are also the ones I see with big wings for no reason the most. I see NBs with the duckbills more often and those are fine imo. NCs and NDs I really don't see ruined as much. A bit rare
>>
>>29061981
Of all the tuner cars, miatas are at the lower end of the riced list. A large part of the community is all about maintaining and restoring stock look.
Yeah, I see the occasional zoomer with a wing once a year, but it's barking up the wrong tree to say that that's normal. I live in the southeast, maybe I'm just not seeing the faggotry on the west coast.

NBs have a duckbill stock. Picrel, my car is stock it was an early 98 car but the US sold it as a '99. But there's a duckbill for sure.
Adding an additional, larger duckbill is somewhat ricey, but it's not too egregious. BMWfags do much ricier shit.

Getting toward the end of winter here, so I haven't used it for awhile, but I look forward to using it when the weather warms up a bit. NA only has basic AC (no climate) but that"s fine for me. I don't mind fiddling with it. Does that sound gay? LoL

I've always found coloured covers to be a little tacky, so I'd personally do with either bare aluminium (with a petroleum resistant lacquer to protect it), or black (wrinkle?). If the letters on your valve cover are raised and not sunken in, then you could also sand them down after painting to achieve a brushed aluminium finish on the letters, like I did with pic rel.
>>
>>29062151
>bare aluminium with a petroleum resistant lacquer to protect it
Oh I hadn't considered that. I do like the bare aluminum look more than most colors I've seen. I have the raised lettering so I was going to sand the them as you described.

Aren't wrinkle painted surfaces a pain in the ass to clean? I heard it was hard to wipe of spilled oil, but I imagine some brake cleaner would still do the job.

Also nice paint job anon
>>
>>29062169
Don't use brake cleaner on painted surfaces you care about, it's too harsh. I would use isopropyl alcohol at the strongest.

I've not used a wrinkle paint myself, but it seems that way if you have a very aggressive wrinkle. I like the very fine matte wrinkle myself, and again, petroleum resistant lacquer would probably help make it easier to clean.

>Also nice paint job anon
Thanks, it was a massive time sink and pain in the ass, but I was fairly happy with the results. It's gonna be really upsetting when they inevitably start flaking in a few years time~ (¬_¬ )

Alabama is a hidden gem. No one wants to be here because race war shit (which does exist), but it's like living in the Shire. It's woods and fields and meadows.
Both picrel and that last pic are from my driveway.
God, I've lived before in shitholes like Detroit and East St Louis. This place is heaven on earth. I see deer, rabbits, armadillo, possum, wild turtles, tortises, eagles, all sorts of shit on my property every day. I've got a whole fish pond entirely on my property with smallmouth bass.
People don't want to live where blacks are the majority, what they don't see is that you can live out of the city with low property taxes.

I am having an issue with the speakers in my 93 Miata LE, it is equipped with Mazda Sensory Sound System (MSSS1)
It has an aftermarket Kenwood head unit, and a JL Audio 4 channel amp installed by the previous owner.

Issue is as follows: In Radio, CD, and AUX mode the door speakers, and the seat bass transducer work. It’s hard to tell, but I think I can hear a light hiss out of the headrest speakers.
In BT mode, only the door speakers are working. Nothing out of the headrest or transducer.

I did some troubleshooting by unplugging channel 1 and 2 inputs, and plugging 3 & 4 into 1 & 2 and wise versa, and playing with all the switches on the amp in CD mode. Only the driver side transducer is working.
In BT mode, no audio at all with channel 1 & 2 unplugged.

I was going to swap it with another amp, but it’s only a 2 channel amp.
Does MSSS1 require a 4channel amp, or can it be wired up in 2channel?
What else can I do to diagnose this issue? I am currently looking at all the wires from the seat and headunit.
>>
>>29063663
I've dealt with the MSSS2 and it was a mess trying to troubleshoot.
I don't know shit about amps or channels but I'd look for shoddy wiring or something not being hooked in right as that's clearly an aftermarket amp. Maybe they're not screwed in tightly on that amp? Have you checked the wiring behind the head unit to see if someone hacked a wire or two?
Are you sure you hear anything from the headrest speakers? They may simply not work anymore.
Not the best answer for you, but I tried.
>>
>>29063680
Wiring looks okay. Nothing is loose or works again when I jiggle.
The passenger side seat was unplugged, explain why it's transducer wasn't working.

Nothing. Just terminated wires.

I'm not getting anything out of channel 3 or 4 from the amp.

If I plug the RCA jacks from 3 and 4 to 1 and 2, I just get normal door speakers.
