Yes, something like a vikingcontact or blizzak will outperform it, but the pilot 4 all seasons are no shit as good as my old nexen dedicated winter tires. They have more grip and feel than 99% of the driving population would need. the AS4's are the best set and forget tire you can get if you don't have the means or space for multiple wheel sets. I had a set of Pilot Sport 2's and AS3's at the same time once and the AS3's probably had 90-95% as much dry grip.
