So some years back, I helped my dad finance a Ford Maverick. I was his co-signer. He had a late 2000s Toyota Tacoma prior to this and used it as a farm truck for his mega garden at the homestead along with mom. He had hip surgery in 2021 and it was hard for him to get in and out of his Taco so he wanted something smaller but with a bed... He looked at the Honda Ridgeline but didn't really know much about Hondas, just Toyotas and the American domestics (Ford, Chevrolet, Dodge, etc) Around this time Ford introduced their Maverick, PERFECT TIMING I thought. We went to a Ford dealer here in north Oklahoma and got his truck 2022 year model and all. Initially things were fine with it, only 400ish miles on the dash. 2 months later, the fucking piece of shit broke down, took it to the Ford dealer we bought it from and they fixed the issue. Problems arise again and it stalled on my parents in rush hour traffic, no electricity going through it. Though it was the battery, no... the FUCKING piece of shit had a busted alternator already...

Got rid of that shit and got a Hyundai Santa Cruz and its been a great truck at the mini farm.

I'm only sharing this because Ford is shooting themselves in the foot with that upcoming Fathom EV truck when they are known for making only shit.

>Fathom EV truck
I know they're doing that to compete with the Slate compact EV truck, but they missed the point entirely on why the Slate exists aside from it not being a fucking large ass truck. It's also because it fucking utilitarian; basic as shit which means NO fucking stupid laptop-sized OLED SCREENS, no CIA shit spying on me. It's supposed to be their answer to older trucks with minimal tech shit in it and people are tired of screens being plastered all over the fucking dashboard and the new Ford mini truck is exactly whats wrong with modern vehicles, FUCKING SCREENS EVERYWHERE IN YOUR FACE.

Already shit out the gate and was probably made by some Californian trust fund hipster that never worked using a pickup ever in their life. Dropside flatbedchads just keep winning as usual.
>>
>>29057389
I don't think they're competing with the slate. I think they saw the success of the maverick and the failure that was the lightning and decided that full size truck owners dont want evs but maverick owners probably would. I think it's a smart move by ford and it will sell well. Most evs hinge on stupid software bullshit but the fathom seems utility focused and an actual car with a radio and comes with paint.

>exactly whats wrong with modern vehicles
My issue with modern vehicles are the fact that most are over engineered and a bitch to work on in your driveway. I'm not the biggest defender of screens, I don't mind them personally because I have one in my 2013 F-150 and I think that's good enough for me. Sat in an Escalade and was just disgusted by that panorama screen that stretches across the dash which also doubles as your speedometer.

The Maverick is everything wrong with the car/truck industry.
>Oh finally, a barebones, small truck that just works and doesn’t make you spend $10k for an elite sound system and a disco ball in the cab
>*Checks Price*
>$30k
>Buy it anyways because it feels heckin’ financially responsible
Like you gotta be retarded to be buying these things, right? I understand not everyone can buy used (or there would be no used), but holy shit, I’m rolling around in a Denali V8 (less than 30k miles) that I picked up for $40k. There’s simply too many trucks floating around used for the Maverick to make any real sense. And there’s more everyday because boomers keep buying King Ranches to drive to bingo, and then it gets auctioned off in 3 years after they finally keel over from spike proteins. If you want a truck that “just works,” go buy a 2006 Tacoma.

I would consider the Maverick if it was $10k, but it will never be $10k because there’s too many retards everywhere.

Like when do people start saying, “No, I’m not spending $45k on a barebones, budget vehicle.” It really feels like you can market things as “budget” and charge whatever you want. Ford could charge $250k for the Maverick, and some retard would buy it because it says “Affordable” and “Good Deal” on the windshield stickers.

>The Maverick is everything wrong with the car/truck industry.
due it's just a crossover with a bed. It's not in competition with the truck segment, it's not even a "truck", it's competition is with crossovers.

I bought one because my wife wanted a crossover. she needed awd for winter, she does a ton of gardening and we bought a house that needed a lot of renos, so we'd be making frequent home depot trips, moving rocks, bags of cement, mud and shit. I didn't want to be constantly cleaning dirt out of it and fuck up the interior moving lumber.

My neighbor does the same stuff as me but drives a santa fe, and his interior is completely fucked on his car. My maverick looks brand new still because I just pressure wash the bed out.

And the 1% of the time we need to move something heavier or bigger, and i know this is a shocker to truck cucks, but we just pay the 30 dollar delivery fee and just get shit delivered. If that's not an option, I rent a trailer from uhaul and tow 4000lbs with it which has been more than enough for my needs so far.

She also needed to daily it for work in the city So it had to be comfortable and good on gas. It gets 6l/100km or close to 40mpg. No truck gets that. I wasn't planning on buying a ranger or f150. I was planning on buying a crossover but wanted something with more utility, good on gas, and awd. The maverick ticks all those boxes. If you just look at it for what it is, it's a very capable, comfortable crossover that's good on gas at a reasonable price. 30k usd is still very cheap for a new vehicle. 50k is the new average. this is 60% of that. These things are selling like fucking crazy because it's exactly what the majority of people need from a vehicle. The bigger offense is the retards spending 200 dollars a week on gas for their f150 just to cowboy larp and haul air on the off chance they ***might*** need to tow 10,000lbs someday.
>>
>>29058682
If you ever do that again I will drop a space colony on your cunt. Stop eggshitting trucks
>>
>>29059510
Truly started with the jellybean F150 or maybe even the Ranger from the 1992 year release for the 1993 model year. Then it segwayed to a egg. I miss muh squareish pickup trucks and the only thing that remains square on them are the beds.

>$53k
A 6.2 V8 1500 Denali starts at $65k you fucking retard. I don’t care what a V6 costs because I don’t drive a V6.

My Denali also has the ultimate package, now known as the Denali Ultimate. V8 Denali Ultimates start at $85k new. It’s also now clustered with fucking screens everywhere and GM has made it even harder to delete DFM (Destroying the Fucking Motor). New cars are literally worse than cars that are 4+ years old In every way.

Do you consoomer retards here even know anything about cars/trucks?

>I bought a used truck for more than a new truck
I bought a better truck that will last longer with all bells and whistles for a little more than the same price as a unibody Maverick goy machine.
30k miles is also fucking nothing on a V8, even a GMC as long as you delete/disable the Destroying the Fucking Motor system (which of course I did).

Enjoy next year’s model which is now government-mandated spyware. Don’t talk about Israel or Ford is gonna drive you off a bridge.
