Looking to pick one up from a family friend for $2400. 160k miles and no known issues except the passenger window not working.

There's really not much better you can do similar in this pride range right?

check if any of the tires match.

and if you didn't know, prepare to struggle more trying to get parts for cars 2005 and older going forward.

Actually the tires are new. I'll have to check out the wheels themselves next time I see the vehicle.

I definitely know the struggle already with trying to find parts for a 2006 car.

10 years old used to be in stock to hand over the counter. Older, if it existed, was 24 hrs away.
Kawasaki Heavy Industries.

You're probably not going to beat it with anything that runs for that price. Worst case you get the passenger window working and flip it for 5 grand.

Main issues are the 4L60E (of course), the engine cooling fan, and temp/blend door actuators.

By 2004 they'd beefed up the splines on the Reverse Sun Shell but that just ended up with the entire flange breaking off the shell! They did eventually increase the filet radius of the flange just in time to stop making the trans in the typical GM fashion of finally getting it right and then stop making it. I'd say there's a 75 percent chance the trans has been into before now though. Engine cooling fans are belt driven but use a clutch that's commanded by the PCM. Most often the clutch seizes so that the fan roars everywhere and brokies just ignore it. Like Most GM's of the period the Temp/blend actuators actually have a position sensor, which is uncommon in the industry, and the sensor goes bad. The system then can't figure out the door position but still tries anyway and sends the actuator to one extreme of travel or the other which cause the gears inside to strip and cause a slow, light knock sound every 1-1.5 seconds. Actuators can be in ...poor...locations for service.
