They got lucky, multiple times.
Literally coasted through the decades by sheer luck. Some would say it was due to smart investments, timing and planning, but somehow the stars always aligned for them.
It all fell apart after the Soviet Union dissolved and Škoda was scooped up by VAG, but even then you can say they got lucky because they got to burn VAG money now and stay operational as a company, unlike so many other ex Soviet manufacturers.

They managed to piece together pretty decent shitboxes from the VAG parts bin, for a few generations. The Octavia with the 1.9 TDI just won't die.
No idea how their latest cars are, haven't tried any of them. I'm not paying 40k for a 1.0 L mild hybrid shopping cart, no matter how many touchscreens and online functions it comes with.

as the poorfag brand they were not allowed to roll out hyper futuristic interiors. That backfired for vag, all the boomers stuck to skoda. now the roles are reversed, their new interiors are last gens vw slop and vw cloned last gen skoda in the same price bracket. This half of the decade will not be kind to them
>>
They used to be the only decent car manufacturer in the eastern bloc.
When VAG came in, they got access to half acceptable parts.

Being on a budget meant that they weren't using the latest shitty electronics, until very recently.

Czechs are no-nonsense hardasses, they use the older proven VAG stuff in their cars.

nothing.
it's just a cheaper Fagsvagen, same shit with seat.
When Fagsvagen does a mistake an makes something Skoda or Seat attractive to people, they kill it.
You still get a Fagvagen shitbox with expensive maintenance and expensive parts.
Even if you try to buy the most premium Skoda, or Seat you don't even get access to a semi-reliable engine until you hit Audi S* tier of cars.

I'll give you an example.
25 years ago you could get for about €20k a 1.6tl Corolla vvt-i, or a 1.6lt. Primera vvt-i or
a Skoda Octavia 1.6 with 10% less hp than both Primera and Corolla, ~20Nm less torque, more fuel consumption and double or tripple the price of regular parts.
The main reason was that the Germans can't and will never be capable of designing and building engines, so the entire lineup from Seat, Skoda, VW to Audi had the same garbage engine, weak as fuck and worse in every aspect.
Skoda and Seat are for retards who don't know about cars, their primary target was FagsVagen or Audi but their pocket couldn't afford it.

>common rail diesel
garbage by design.
You people are either repeating memes from the internet or some 60IQ slavic shitposts.
the death of diesel engines was common rail fuel injection, because it took a regular person's shitbox or work vehicle from basic maintenance to Audi-tier service costs.
if you want a reliable and cheap diesel engine go for one without common rail.
I had one 4D56 non-turbo to 750000 km and I have a 4D56 intercooled turbo to 550000 km.
They both had once or twice filled up with diesel that had water and after emptying the fuel rails and replacing the fuel filter, the engine was ready to go.
If you do that to a common rail diesel like the Fagsmobile 1.9 TDI, you will need a fuel pump that costs more than the entire car.
If you want a car that will outlive your gearbox and your entire chassis, buy a non common rail diesels.

>common rail diesel
Didn't the 1.9 still use mechanical unit injectors?
>>
Volkswagen, for some reason, decided to slot themselves as an up market brand between Škoda/SEAT and Audi.
So if you are on a budget you go for the former while if you have some money to spend, why not go for the latter.
VW must have survived off sales from Golfs, Transporters and fleets.

Now no one has any idea what is going on over at VAG
>>
>>29062170

I whole heartedly agree that common rail is a step back from mechanical injection. But its way better than HEUI and electronic injection. The current problem with common rail is that they are pushing the pressures too far and everyone uses the same pump because bosch is the only one brave enough to sell that shit. In my country we get second gen common rail and zero emissions control from the factory and the engines are very reliable even with our shitty fuel. Its all about the filters for us.
>>
>>29062171

They do. I think even the same injection pump as the 200/300TDI land rovers. About $1,400 for one. Which is cheap for a diesel injection pump

the entire commercial world runs on common rail diesel and they did that decades before fag shat out its first cr engine
gotta love wrenchlets
>>29062171
they did and the added mechanical stress is the sole reason most 1.9l heads are fucked after 250k miles

in such an engine the high pressure fuel pump sits ontop of the injector and is actuated by the timing belt and a cam shaft. The first ones had a belt change intveral of just 50k miles and after ~250k miles the hole inside the head is fucked, oval and leaks
>>
It's simple: Czechs are based, Germoids are cringe.
Don't forget the original Beetle is a Czech design stolen by Ferdinand Porsceh from Tatra. Germoids steal everything from Czechs
