I've wanted an FD rx-7 since I was 12. I've only recently gotten a decent job and been able to save up some money, but they're already crossing the 50-60k mark for a decent, nothing special example. In 4 years (optimistic) when I will have 60k to blow on a car, they'll be 90k. And by the time I have 90k, they'll be 150k...
>>29060249>but they're already crossing the 50-60k mark for a decent, nothing special examplethey average 40k. which is actually 10k less than what they costed adjusted for inflation brand new.you can easily afford one if you really wanted. roturds are shit, and it's why they didn't go up in value like the Supra, NSX, Skyline GTR etc. people buy them, and quickly fall out of love with them, and dump them back on the market.
>>29060252r32's are even cheaper than rx7's. r33's are half the price of r34's while being 95% as good. The price of these cars are determined pretty much entirely by supply vs popularity, and has nothing to do with the actual quality or reliability. See: the price of NA supras
>>29060258>r32's are even cheaper than rx7's.they aren't. on average, they're selling for 10k more. reliability plays a big role in the value of ANY car. it's why 3000GTs also aren't as valuable. the "demand" lowers if people think the car is a piece of shit. very much the case with roturds, which haven't even kept up with inflation.
>>29060249Yes. Get a job that only a few people can do and you'll be highly compensated.
>>29060249>50-60k markThe fuck? Are they that expensive in the states? Over here they are like 30k at the lowest I've seen
>>29060279they aren't expensive in america.https://www.classic.com/m/mazda/rx-7/3rd-gen/OP could find an affordable example easily.
>>29060280the line shows that they're actually slightly trending downwards as people import more of them from Japan.
>>29060281the rhd cars are definitely cheaper
the anime meme car is like 20k-30k now
It depends. With taxes and everything included, the BMW M2 comes out to around $110,000 CAD.Someone needs to give me or I need to save $110k.
>>29060249>retards wants to pay full in cash holy shit p/o/l really did a number on you lot
>>29060294>getting a loan for a luxury itemshiggy diggy my niggy
>>29060295Then never have your dream car.
is the rx7 guy that was getting shit on still here? wonder how his car is doing today >>29060249I already own my one of my top 3 dream cars, comes in 2nd as the 350z. 240z in good condition is my dream car and sadly it is fairly rare by me.
>>29060249You just gotta be adaptable. Imports aren’t worth it anymore doe asking prices. They only had the allure when they were cheap easy speed for the money, now that’s gone. Rn I’m into vintage jags, alfa romeos and Mercedes. They're a lot of fun, pretty affordable and retards aren’t attracted to them so you can get them so they’re not all ruined
>>29060249I'm getting my dream car end of the year. I cant wait
no, i liked the escort cos and then the nsx
>>29060280Bro thats expesnive. That link didn't have any cheap cars
>>29060293I can get a fully loaded BMW M4 for less than 110k. You guys are getting fucked
my dream car as a kid was a 98 impreza so i probably could right now if i financed it (or just didnt get a meme model with 35k worth of upgrades sunk into it by some boomer soul'd gen x-er who knows what he got)these days i want a cute lil kei truck though and i can buy one of those straight cash right meow, theyre like 10-15k on the used market and thats getting a bad deal, i see them for 8k or less occasionally
>>29060723>multiple cars in the link selling for around 30k>this is expensiveI thought you had a decent job?
>>29060734I'll have to save up for 4 years to afford a 30k car
>>29060252>inflation meme
>>29060249i don't think i actually have any dream car. i just see what's available around me that's interesting and keep tabs on it just in case something happens to my current car that'd require me to find another one.
>>29060801You never had a car you were smitten with as a kid? A car you'd hang posters of on your bedroom walls?>>29060249I'm dirt poor so I could only afford the base model of one my favourite cars, the Alfa Romeo 156. I love it but every time I drive it I am reminded "well, it's not a V6".
>>29060802not really no. i remember getting a big poster of a saleen s7 but i never actually bothered putting it up.come to think of it i never actually really got into cars until i started working on mine. i'm a sucker for old 4 door sedans and wagons with l6s or v8s and manuals though.
I'll never own an NSX
>>29060734Thats not a decent job then.
>>29060900>>29060786
already did
>>29060249My dream car requires me to build it if I want it. Money wise it's actually quite cheap for the kit and donor car chasis, but time is the harder thing for me to afford.
>>29060249I could afford, but the problem comes with maintenance. Is the parts for the car you want available? Can you wrench it on your own? That is more expensive in the long run than buying the car initially. Like I want many sport cars in the 80s and 90s, and I am not talking about the fat round Supra that cost more than ferrari, but the box kind that looks like an RX7 coupe, but getting them now would require a tremendous amount of wrenching, time, and money, and I don't have that much time nowadays.
>>29061012Ugh is that some shitty 40hp Beetle based fiberglass turd?
>>29061017Depends on the engine, but it's a kit car based on actual GT model of the Beetle from the 1960s. So it using the VW Beetle floorplan is actually authentic and not the run of the mill Beetle larping as a Countach kind of deal.
>>29061016Trick is to just spend a bit more (usually not even considerably more) and buy a good one from the get go. I've had my fair share of 'too good to be true' bargains that would up nickel and dime me with deferred maintenance or hidden issues. Spend the extra money to buy one that's had full resto levels of money spent on it with full receipts from a shop. Those sellers are up to their eyeballs in sunk costs will never get their money back. You you can scoop up the car after they're sick of it and enjoy it relatively trouble free. You especially want to do this with a trouble prone car like an RX7.
>>29061018Looks like an anteater. Gotta give you credit for wanting something truly different tho. People give me shit for pining after beige full size luxury sedans from the 60s that nobody cares about. I honestly don't have the energy to deal with zoomers trying to sell me rotbox S13s no interiors, frame damage, pot riveted overfenders hiding lamp post dings and rust, and SR20DEs with a chinese turbos that's are about to pop at this point in my life.
>>29060249Kinda, the thing is... Would I have any use for it?
>>29060249I am glad my dream car was a Corvette or Camaro lol, I bought a C5 at 29 years old for cash.
>>29060249I got a tesla3 for 20kIt’s fast & fun to driveDon’t really have a dream car, doing pretty goodEVs make super cars obsolete
>>29060280I'm looking for an lhd car, and buying a clapped shitter will cost more in the end than buying a cleaner example.
I'm in the process of buying mine for 10k great british pound squids. It helps when you're autistic enough to obsess over some weird obscure and/or unwanted car instead of some generic shit like an r34 or a lambo. No one wants a 300zx z31 so they're relatively cheap for good condition examples. Lucky for me, I guess.
No, definitely not. But I did get to rent one and drive on Hakone Turnpike while I was in Japan.
