Dealing with people when buying/selling cars is legitimately making me tired of being into cars.
>i almost bought one for 30% less than your [2 year newer] car, you're asking too much
How do you keep your sanity when buying/selling?
>>
>>29061169
never been an issue for me and ive sold like 5 cars on marketplace in the last year, stop asking so much
>>
>>29061216
i'm 10% under market anon
these people are making shit up
>>
I'm buying, I wish I could just have a website to click "buy" and have a guarantee that it isn't a rusty piece of shit or overpriced by a dealership
>>
>>29061169
Buying and selling is by far the worst part of being a car enthusiast. I havent bought anything from a dealer since 2013 but im considering it for my next car.
>>
everyone is a little bit more retarded than they were 10-20 years ago

define overpriced
>>
>>29061169
For me it's the haggling over a low price. they drag your ass out to meet them and then hem and haw over this and that but the price is well below any comps

if i get a "is this still available" spam message, I ignore. Ask me about the listing or arrange a meeting. Also on fbm, i can see who the buyer is and know exactly who not to waste my time with.

I literally just had a meeting earlier today and the guy tried to haggle me down 2k on a 20k car because he didn't like that my tires weren't PS5s. They were factory tires.
I wish I was joking.
People just make shit up, which is what pisses me off the most.
>>
>>29061523
no, actually, define it. what metric are you using? your ass? kbb? a carvana offer?
>>
>>29061512
Maybe be more honest in the ad instead of "runs and drives". Nothing more annoying than FB Marketplace ads that tell you nothing about the car and fail to mention the check engine light, shot brakes, blown tires, dents you couldn't see in the 3 pictures that were listed, the engine sound that sure sounds like rod knock, etc. Don't want me to waste your time? Don't waste mine, tell me about the fucking car in the ad.

Selling cars legitimately put me off buying cars.
Like before I'd buy a cool car I was interested in every year for a couple of grand, have a bit of fun, drive it until I got bored with it and it needed new tyres or something, then put it in my front yard with a sign and sell it for like $1k, but now you're looking at like $10k-$15k for the stuff I'm into, but people still expect you to dump it for a couple of grand when you're done, and you have to use jeetbook marketplace to get any interest.

I ended up just buying a new Corolla two years ago and don't fuck with cars anymore. It's just not worth it.

>car in good condition that doesn't need anything for $15k
>takes 6 months to sell

>same car in shit condition that needs $20k worth of work, but asking price is $5k
>sells in a week

op here: >>29061623
my car literally has nothing. no issues. no notes. nothing.
it got a full service a month ago. the cunt tried to tell me "ummm these aren't good tires, i'd have expected PS5s or something... that's kinda a turn off bro..."
>>
>>29062181
just got a message from him saying he's no longer buying the car because he didn't factor in that he'd
>>
>>29061236
>i'm 10% under market anon
Clearly not because it would've sold at a discount if the market was willing to pay 10% more on average.
>>
>>29061976
Personally, if I can get a $5k car that runs and drives but needs some work to be done and I was going to modify and improve it anyway, I'd rather get the shtibox (with a good body) and make it all work how I want it instead of paying $15k and hoping nothing happens to it.

Look at it this way: $15k unit that supposedly doesn't need any work, and oopsies that wombulator valve broke and needs a $2000 repair. You'd be more upset knowing you just spent $17k when you could've spent $7k for the same car.

"well that sucks...sooo why didn't you?"

That guarantee is what you are paying the dealership upcharge for anon. You are buying a good faith effort to sell you a vehicle as it is represented and being given legal recourse to make you whole if the car is a shitheap.
>>
>>29061169
The more enthusiast cars you own the less normie retards you have to interact with. I absolutely loathe trying to sell a normal car, buyers will complain that they can buy another brand/model for less or something dumb like "this car doesnt have a big enough trunk for me". As if I am a dealership.
>>
>>29062366
I dunno, I sold an FR-S and two motorcycles on FB Marketplace and I got exactly one interested buyer that closed the deal on both. My C5 Corvette was chock full of retards trying to get it for cheap or trying to neg it, etc. or were flakey as fuck. You'd think a C5 would be all Boomers that were super organized and cohesive, but no, it was a lot of Mexicans and shit.
